understand how this site’s algorithm works: likes mean jack shit here. posts you like do not show up in feeds, they do not show up in suggestions. no one sees it when you like a post besides you and the one who posted. reblogs are what keep the site alive. so if you want this site to continue to be a blight on this capitalist hellspace, damn near anonymous and completely unprofitable to every corporation ever, reblog shit.

- mock, block, ignore. someone leaves comments on your posts that aren’t dangerous in any way but they still make you uncomfortable? block ‘em. someone gives you shit because you don’t have a dni and they want to make sure you’re ‘okay’ to follow? fuck 'em. blocked. you curate your own experience on this website, and that means accepting that you follow and will be followed by people who are weird as shit that you’ll otherwise know nothing about. most are harmless, some are not. familiarize yourself with that block button for the latter; it’s your new best friend. and on the topic of curating your own experience…

- unfollow people you don’t jive with. you followed someone because they used to post about power rangers and now they’re into gundam? unfollow them. someone figuring out their identity went down the wrong path, fell into terf territory, and you recognize it’s not your responsibility to pull them back? unfollow them. cleaning up your dash because it’s just a fucking mess? unfollow. and don’t waste your time sending people an anon message as to why; i guarantee no one cares. speaking of anons…

- turn off the allow anonymous messages if people are abusing it. and make it so only certain people can dm you! if someone is harassing you, make them show their face. if it’s someone you’ve blocked, they’ll have to make a new account to send you hate mail and that’s just a bad look for them. also: don’t send hate, anon or otherwise. it’s rude as shit and you won’t come out of that looking good. and last but not least…

- clout is not a thing here. you accepted that clown nose when you signed up for this circus. being tumblr famous isn’t actually a thing, because nothing here matters (social media wise.) tumblr’s algorithm is notoriously broken, which levels the playing field—you have to look for the shit you want to see and share, and that’s why reblogs matter more than likes. most people find new content because it showed up on their dash by someone they follow. block people who act like they’re the bees knees because they have a lot of followers. if someone is accusing you of 'clout stealing’ for rebloging, block the shit outta them. screenshotting someone’s tags and adding them onto a post is not 'clout stealing’ or stealing in any way, period. in fact, it’s a running joke that the tags are a peer review system where users look for the funniest responses and tack them onto a post. the only way you would be 'stealing’ is by screenshotting someone’s post outright and reposting that image*, or downloading someone’s art from their tumblr and reposting that. it’s a dick move. don’t do it. also i really shouldn’t have to make this point separate but…

- stop this previous tags bullshit. see above as to why. i’m not going through a twenty chain prev tag nightmare to figure out what the hell you want me to see. if it’s worth posting someone’s tags or reply, copy & paste or make a screenshot and reblog with that addition.
