Unable to help but smile, the magician held out his hand, biting down on his lip softly.

“Well, first ah- give me your hand again. It’s easier for the other one to rest on the hip, if you don’t mind me doing that. Feet planted, it’s better to keep them slightly apart as well.”

Noel’s face still heated, he stepped himself closer to make it easier. He decided they’d start slow, left and right swaying, the rest could come later..

     She laughed as Noel put his hand on her hip, nodding. It was a little embarrassing, and her face did flush a little, but she didn’t mind.

     Claire enthusiastically planted her feet way-too-firmly into the ground, as you would expect someone like Claire to do. But she learned quickly enough, when Noel started swaying, that that wasn’t going to work, and so she lightened up a bit. She leaned into him and did her best to follow his movements, although she couldn’t help stepping on his foot once. Poor, clumsy Claire. Poor Noel, too.

     “So... what you’re saying, is...”

     “You wanna have a sleepover party!”

     That probably wasn’t particularly what he wanted, but Claire’s mind was already set in her fluffy fantasy. She didn’t even stop to think that Ashe’s room was half practically-a-library, and only had one bed.

     Per usual, his ego was...tiring.

     “Is that so...” If you were only cooking for yourself, why make so much extra, though? The answer eluded her. But Claire was the type to take things at face value, so she listened to him without any doubts. She was blissfully unaware of their shared past, and without intervention from another, it would remain that way. To her, Sirius was as new a presence in her life as the demons. She simply wanted him to act a bit less rough towards her, if she could have such a thing.

“Well, it’s… Er..You just surprised me, that’s all, really,” Ashe simply puts. Noticing the opened door, he shakes his head. “Did I forget to lock the the door now? How forgetful of me..”

He walks over, closing it. “Could you knock before entering and close after? It would save me a startle.”

     “Huh?” Her smile was replaced by a mildly stunned expression as she realized that, perhaps, her sudden and unannounced intrusion was actually rude. “Oh. Hehe. Sorry~ I’ll be more careful next time!” Now that she was here, though, she had no plans on leaving.

Noel watched, ready to offer to take over the chore for her at any moment but.. she seemed to have it handled. Unsurprisingly so, Claire could probably pick Noel up after all.

“That’s- perfect, actually,” a pause, to allow himself to run his hand through his hair without disturbing that perfectly placed bang, “thank you..”

Impressed to say the least, Noel glanced down at his hand, the one she had gripped so quickly. A moment later, his cobalt gaze returned to the familiar girl before him, 

“Well, now that we have the room to, ah.. may I?” Once more, Noel’s hand idled to be gripped. Leading was easy to Noel, teaching, however.. was another story.

     “It’s no problem! It’s the least I could do!” with a carefree grin, Claire hopped back from the table, her hands on her hips in a proud pose. After a second, she dropped her arms back to the normal position and walked over to Noel, taking his outstretched hand, a bit more gently this time.

“I would look, Miss Claire, but I’d prefer to keep my retinas unburned, ahaha..”

Life in the mansion was dull. The others were racked from paranoia and anxiety of their current situation, Sirius stuck up in his room, Wilardo tending after his flowers and all the while managing his own agenda in the mansion, and Noel doing who knows what in who knows where.

Claire was an outlier. From the same cloth, they were always buzzing around, waiting off for new interactions and shenanigans. But unlike him, her spirits would simmer down in the veil of night, and she’d bid off to sleep.

So, he’d be alone. Alone to not only investigate the mansion, but alone to the comfort of no one. Usually, after no leads, he’d retreat back to his room to read off more of his papers. And when the sun peaked from the clouds, with elbow rested on the ledge and face leaned on hand, Ashe would revel in the sunrise.

Sunrises were beautiful, no matter how many times Ashe saw it. With burning orange and red, the colors paletted the sky to a beautiful dawn.

It marked the start of a new day, and the end of another.

Though this time, Claire was with him. Ashe didn’t say it, but it was a pleasant surprise and he appreciated her being there. “Say, Miss Claire, have you ever heard of Dzogchen?”

     “Ehh..? But it’s so pretty..!” But as she said that, her eyes started to hurt from staring, so she guessed that he probably had the right idea and stepped away from the window, turning to look back at Ashe while rubbing her eyes. “When the door opens and we get to leave, you should come watch the sunrise with me outside! There’s lots of pretty places. ...Or, well... Maybe the sunset, instead, just so I don't fall asleep.”

     “Dzz.. Dzogchen?” There was a puzzled expression present on her face that said, plainly, that she hadn’t. Or, if she had, she didn’t remember. She thought it was cool that Ashe knew about so many things, but at the same time, she kind of wished that she knew about things, too...

     “But Noeeeeellll..!!”

Noel found himself enamored with the idea that she didn’t. He tilted his head, brow raising slightly. 

“Is that so?” the man cracked a smile in the faintest, wearily offering his hand out to the shorter girl.

“If you’d like, I’ll gladly teach you- we’d just have to move the table, it’s sorta in the way…” 

Claire fumbling was something the hater didn’t often see, and seemed to value it when he did. It was.. nice, in a way, to him.

     Teach her to dance? Ooh, how romantic! The thought made her giddy, and the vague nervousness on her face was promptly replaced by excitement. She grabbed his hand, maybe a bit too roughly, since she had such a bad habit of overestimating her own strength.

“Send 🌇 to watch a sunrise with my muse.”

     Claire was starting to get really, really, really sleepy… She wanted to watch the sunrise, but at the same time, it was taking so much focus not to flop down and doze off where she sat. The only thing that stopped her was the friend she invited along in hopes that he would enjoy it too.

     “It’s gonna come up soon, right..?” She mumbled, staring intently at the horizon despite the weight of gravity pulling her eyelids down. It had to be almost morning by now. She probably should have taken a nap earlier, but she thought she would be fine, and yet, here she was, not fine.

     The sky got lighter, but that was it. Just a lighter night. None of the pretty purples and oranges she wanted to see. Just as she was beginning to lose hope–

     The colors began to spread across the sky. Slowly, but surely, they appeared, and Claire’s heart skipped a beat. Suddenly, it seemed as if all of her previous exhaustion had faded away, replaced by her usual spunk.

    “Whooooaaaa! Ashe, Ashe, look!” She pulled on his sleeve with one hand, and pointed aggressively at the tiny sliver of light peeking over the horizon with the other. “It’s here! It’s here!! It’s the sun!!”

     Claire was so, sooooo bored. This huge mansion wasn’t necessarily bad, and sure, there were lots of places to explore, but it was kind of weird to go playing in a place that didn’t really exist--not to mention a little dangerous.

     Unfortunately for the others, she’d taken to pestering them for attention. And Claire, hardly having a concept of personal space, barged into people’s rooms left and right if their doors were unlocked, and talked to every unfortunate soul she ran into outside those rooms.

     Of all the things Claire expected to hear, (among which were yelling, groaning, the occasional weird demon scream,) song wasn’t one of them, so she found herself drawn to the source. When she stumbled upon Ashe, she was a bit surprised, but then again, it didn’t seem like most of the people here would randomly sing to themselves.

     “Unfortunate? Is something wrong, Ashe?” She failed to recognize that she’d startled or embarrassed him, and simply stared. 

     Noel knew how to dance! Good! Great, even. He looked and dressed pretty fancy, so of course it made sense that he would know. He seemed pretty shy about it, which Claire couldn’t understand. It was a good thing to know, after all. But upon being prompted on if she knew how to dance, Claire snapped back into reality, and realized her predicament.

     Exciting, exciting, exciting! It was really just so exciting! A night out dancing was like something out of a fairytale, so, in essence, it was perfect for Claire.

     There was one liiittle problem, though. Claire didn’t actually know how to dance.

     But anyone who knew Claire knew that little things like that didn’t stop her.

     “Yes, yes, yes!! I want to dance!! I totally want to dance!! ...Do you know how to dance, Noel?”
