Imagine, if you will, a world of “cookie cutter” similarities. A world where everyone is exactly the same. No individuality. No idea of self. A world where those in charge silence anyone who shows the slightest inkling of being different. Whether it’s their tastes in music or art. Whether it’s their personal beliefs or sexuality. Whether they are innovators or brilliant misfits. Suppressing their rights to be who they were born to be, express their individuality, and share that individuality with others who may share those same ideals, is the first step in the march towards a totalitarian society.

Our diversity is what makes for a rich and thriving society. It also allows us to find, and share, our thoughts and creativity with individuals who are likeminded, and perhaps build a more vibrant community together.

I’m a student of history, and firmly believe in the adage that “if we don’t learn from the mistakes of the past, that we are doomed to repeat them”. No good has ever come from one group regulating another because of the pressure they are under to make the world a perceived “better place”.

Tumblr has branded Adult Content as an inconvenience which must be purged. It is an inconvenient segment of their makeup which is running against the so-called mainstreams current set of ideals. But I pose a question to you. What’s next on the hit list? As our alt-right society’s tolerance for anything non traditional regresses, in this hostile Trump based world, who will our next target be? Wrong religion? You’re out. Wrong skin colour? Out? Wrong political views? Out. Suddenly that diversity which made us a great society has turned into a Stepford type society, where we’ve all been painted by the same brush, and need to hide who, and what we are for fear of reprisals.
