So I finished Go For it, Nakamura!!
And wooh, I don't watch too many anime anymore but I'm glad I did this one. Anyways, Spoilers!
The last two episodes were pretty tough and I really felt bad for Nakamura. Like, I was kind of expecting, 'Oh, this is just how it ends. Statistically Hirose gets the girl and that's life.' Whole series seemed almost built up for that.
Then the second half of the last episode and omg. It didn't even go back to status quo either, so even though Nakamura doesn't quite go for it, they're still on closer terms than before which is very sweet. Ah, but what I wanted to talk about was everything that can be read between the lines.
Like with Hirose's gf. She dumps him right after she notices Nakamura's pen looks exactly like the one Hirose has and the fact that he gave it to Hirose? And the fact that Hirose wasn't that into the relationship? She figured out he was gay before he did. The real question is does Hirose actually know that or not? Because what are you doing? You get dumped and your next move is to chase down Nakamura, ask for his phone number, respond quick to all his texts, and ask him to see a romance movie? AAH! The signs are there!
The ending is sweet too, kind of the anime's way of saying, 'Oh? Season 2 maybe?' Which I'm unfortunately skeptical about. I know anime takes years and the author wasn't treated well by some fans. But I certainly could see this getting another season where Nakamura finally goes for a confession and we see if Hirose has been teasing or not the whole time. Hirose's perspective would be very interesting to see. Because is he *waiting* for Nakamura to make a move? Or is he clueless? I truly want to believe the feelings are there, they're just not figured out yet. And Nakamura's been through so much over his own feelings. It hurt to see him think he wasn't worthy of love. So much left to explore here.
For now, I'm just happy to muse over the ending. How we saw all the characters one last time, I think that's something of a troupe but it was done well and very cute. Which, honestly, is my overall view of the story. Well done and very cute.
Also! Nakamura was legit happy to think Hirose was happy with a gf, and that he wanted to be happy because *he* was happy, which is just like super mature for him. He's really a good person at heart. And then you get to the part where he's reflecting that he wants to keep loving Hirose despite the odds stacked against him and, man, I feel for you. He's a really romantic sap and I think that's what makes him endearing.
Okay, blah blahing over for now. Bye!
