Continuing the saga of LGBTQ+ media that I like!
(I've tried making this post like three times but my Tumblr always crashes, so I'm sorry if this is bad.)
The Cult Of Dionysus by The Orion Experience: The song is basically "We're both depressed, we're both gay, so wanna start a cult together?"
All Dolled Up also by The Orion Experience: A song about two non-binary gays getting ready to do some arson. What more could you want?
Take Me To Church by Hozier: The lyrics are not gay themselves, but first of all Hozier is a lesbian icon, for reasons I don't know, and I love him. ALSO the music video is actually gay. And very depressing, so prepare for that.
OK2BGAY by Tomboy: Just a very gay video and song. Also the people in the video look like Jojo characters for some reason? Don't know what's up with that, but I'm not complaining.
I Like Boys by Todrick Hall and I Like Girls by Miss Semi Sweet: Just gays coming out to their parents. Pretty good songs, I like them a lot. The lesbian version is a lot more safe for work.
Podcasts (Some slight !!SPOILERS!! follow)
The Magnus Archives: A fiction horror podcast about this institute called The Magnus Archives, where they have huge archive full of statements about supernatural events. I don't think there's a single cishet character in this podcast. The main character is biromantic and asexual. His co-workers include a gay dude, a bi dude, and later some lesbians. (Also his ex-girlfriend is bi too.) Also people have decided that his boss is gay, I don't know why, but I believe it. If you start listening to this podcast, please pay attention to characters' names from the beginning, they're gonna come in handy.
Welcome To Night Vale: A fiction podcast about a radio host of a small city. And the city is weird. Very weird. Anyways, the main character is gay and in the very first episode he falls in love with this dude named Carlos. (Who later does return his feelings.) There's also disabled representation, which doesn't really have anything to do with this, but I just wated to mention it. Very chill podcast, I love it a lot.
I tried to pick ones that aren't written by straight people or at least don't fetishize LGBTQ folks.
Bad Signs: Okay, so these 12 people get crashed on a strained island, and have to live with each other, and ya know survive. One of the main characters is gay, two are bi, and one is probably bi, but she's not sure yet. Also one of the straight ones said that he'd be down with kissing a dude to see what's that like. Also in flashbacks, you can see one of the main characters' sister, who is lesbian and trans, so that's cool. (Also during making this post it turned out that one of the characters is ace.) Anyways, it's one of my favourite comics.
Axed: Basically this girl Ax, has been training her whole life to fight monsters, but the day she graduates, killing monsters gets outlawed, and now she's unemployed. I'm pretty sure Ax is gay or at least she seems to be? I'm not sure if it's ever confirmed, but I love her a lot. Also there's this lovely non-binary forest spirit who uses they/them pronouns.
The Doctors Are Out: A vet moves next to a medical doctor. They do not get along. They have almost the same last name and cause confusion. The doctor has a kid. Also they're both bisexual. No but seriously, as I said main characters are bi, one important character is trans, and two other important characters are both mlm.
Life Outside The Circle: Ok, I might just be advertising my lovely country but anyways. Basically these two Finnish dudes chill in the countryside and fall in love and it's great. Also one of them has a kid. And one of the main dudes is trans. The comic has some slight country-typical homophobia, but y'know, sometimes it do be like that.
I just noticed that I use the word also a lot.
I'd really like to hear your favourite LGBTQ+ media, so please tell me if you have any.
