Literally just saw a life-sized bird shit mid air
the concept of a life-sized bird
two rookie witches making a potion together and after reading a recipe that needs something akin to a toenail or an eyeball, they'd both go like, "hm, you know what, what about no."
In a deal with a fae, you must give up something you hold dear. Whether it be your name, your first born, or something else, it must be held dear. You, gave up your addiction. It worked.
imagine this, a group of magical intergalactic inmates escaping prison and find beauty and meaning in life instead

pro-tip: don't ever use the sentence "thousands of years" in your worldbuilding unless you really know what a thousand years is like
Quick cheat sheet:
The middle ages were one thousand years ago
I don't know if I need you to tell you this but Jesus was alive 2 thousand years ago during the Roman Empire
3 thousand years ago the Mediterranean and Middle East were recovering from the bronze age collapse. None of the philosophers of Western philosophy (or Eastern for that matter) were born yet
Earliest writing dates roughly to 5 thousand years ago.
Agriculture started roughly 10 thousand years ago
So yes, you can write whatever you like but if you're telling me that an individual dynasty has been ruling since 8000 years ago (HOLA JORGE) I have to wonder if they even had writing back then
To be fair you can find one guy like that in the comment section of most metal bands on youtube
You’ve all played fantasy games, or even made fantasy games, that set up the stakes of their world with the EPIC BATTLE BETWEEN GOOD AND EVI
Shameless plug
He was just in a silly goofy mood.
HEY?
This is insane
The greatest supervillain the world has ever known is dead.
That should be something worth celebrating!
....Right?
But for Ilhami Zaheer, the victory was short-lived. The ultimate evil that threatened to destroy the peace and harmony of the Kingdom was no more. The townsfolk threw a celebratory party to commemorate the end of an era of darkness.
Men wore their finest suits and women wore their most expensive gowns on this wonderful day. Children of all ages were dolled-up as well, giggling as they chased one another playfully.
At every corner, there were food stalls offering varieties of food for free. Candies, apples, candy apples, whole turkey legs, bowls of buttered corn and much more delicacies.
At the heart of the town, some of the men even burned down tapestries depicting the supervillain as a symbol that they are free from his wicked grasps. Cheers, chants and laughters filled the air for the Kingdom is free.
But why was the young lad, Ilhami Zaheer, looking troubled at the sight of victory? Hell, he looked sad even.
. . .
"Hi," The redheaded young man meekly greeted, a finger scratched his temple as he awkwardly made his way in the therapist's humble office, "You must be Dr. Yuisa?"
"Yes, that's correct," She answered, her gentle soft hands adjusted her glasses, "Hello, thank you for coming, Mr. Zaheer."
The doctor gestured the redhead to the green sofa in front of her as she sat herself down and took out a notebook.
"I must say it's a surprise to see you here, Mr. Zaheer," Dr. Yuisa said, a teasing smile slowly formed on her face, "Or should I say, Great Hero?"
Ilhami chuckled, his cheeks blushing red at the joke.
"But to address the matter at hand, what is it that you would like to talk about?"
Ilhami Zaheer straightened his posture, eyes distant as he looked to the ground.
"The celebration made me realise a lot of things," Ilhami muttered.
Dr. Yuisa raised an eyebrow, her fingers placed a streak of blonde hair behind her ear, "Such as?"
"I have no idea people can be so happy when someone dies."
"Somone evil," The therapist corrected, "People can be happy when someone evil dies, especially when it means they are free from that person's oppression."
Then, Ilhami asked a question that not anyone in town has ever thought of.
"Has anyone even seen the Heinous Storm in person? Besides me, of course."
Dr. Yuisa frowned at that question.
"Well, no."
Ilhami shot another question, "Then, that makes me wonder. When one day, I were to disappear, would anyone be sad? Or would they be so happy they'd throw a party?"
"Mr. Zaheer, that's simply an unfair comparison. You are the Great Hero, after all. You put an end to the reign of the Heinous Storm and brought peace and happiness to the people. When you pass away, I'm sure plenty of people would grieve over your loss."
Ilhami's face contorted into a look of discomfort. It was clear as day that something was bothering his mind.
"Feel free to tell me, at any time, what's bothering you. I understand that ending a person's life can impact you severely. But I can assure you, that does not make you a bad person."
"Then, why does this feel... wrong?" The redhead asked.
"None of this is your fault."
"It just feels even more wrong that people are celebrating the death of someone I killed. They looked so happy, I can't help but question if I really did the right thing."
Dr. Yuisa placed her notebook down, scribbles after scribbles of notes could be seen as she analysed Ilhami's behaviour.
"But I can say for certain that having a moral dilemma does make you a good person, Mr. Zaheer. You're reflecting on your actions when a lot of people don't. That's a good first step."
Ilhami looked at the therapist, his first time making direct eye-contact ever since he walked into the room.
Tensed and troubled, he asked, "Well, what am I supposed to be feeling if the Great Hero and the world's greatest supervillain are the same person?"

Show, don’t tell
"Show, don’t tell" means letting readers experience a story through actions, senses, and dialogue instead of outright explaining things. Here are some practical tips to achieve that:
1. Use Sensory Details
Tell: "The room was cold."
Show: "Her breath puffed in faint clouds, and she shivered as frost clung to the edges of the window."
Tell: "He was scared."
Show: "His hands trembled, and his heart thudded so loudly he was sure they could hear it too."
2. Focus on Actions
Tell: "She was angry."
Show: "She slammed the mug onto the counter, coffee sloshing over the rim as her jaw clenched."
Tell: "He was exhausted."
Show: "He stumbled through the door, collapsing onto the couch without even bothering to remove his shoes."
3. Use Dialogue
What characters say and how they say it can reveal their emotions, intentions, or traits.
Tell: "She was worried about the storm."
Show: "Do you think it'll reach us?" she asked, her voice tight, her fingers twisting the hem of her shirt.
4. Show Internal Conflict Through Thoughts or Reactions
Tell: "He was jealous of his friend."
Show: "As his friend held up the trophy, he forced a smile, swallowing the bitter lump rising in his throat."
5. Describe the Environment to Reflect Mood
Use the setting to mirror or hint at emotions or themes.
Tell: "The town was eerie."
Show: "Empty streets stretched into the mist, and the only sound was the faint creak of a weathered sign swinging in the wind."
6. Let Readers Infer Through Context
Give enough clues for the reader to piece things together without spelling it out.
Tell: "The man was a thief."
Show: "He moved through the crowd, fingers brushing pockets, his hand darting away with a glint of gold."
7. Use Subtext in Interactions
What’s left unsaid can reveal as much as what’s spoken.
Tell: "They were uncomfortable around each other."
Show: "He avoided her eyes, pretending to study the painting on the wall. She smoothed her dress for the third time, her fingers fumbling with the hem."
8. Compare to Relatable Experiences
Use metaphors, similes, or comparisons to make an emotion or situation vivid.
Tell: "The mountain was huge."
Show: "The mountain loomed above them, its peak disappearing into the clouds, as if it pierced the heavens."
Practice Example:
Tell: "The village had been destroyed by the fire."
Show: "Charred beams jutted from the rubble like broken ribs, the acrid smell of ash lingering in the air. A child's shoe lay half-buried in the soot, its leather curled from the heat."

the true cycle of life
Spread illustration of Shaymin Village created for @pmdzine!! PMD started my lifelong obsession with shaymin, so of course I had to paint this location!
I wish fantasy settings would show more dark magic healing.
Shadows bandaging wounds
Ice cold shade to cool down heatstroke and fever
Engulfing distressing mental imagery in darkness to calm a patient
Snuffing out the afterlife light so the soul won’t leave the body
Perhaps using any necrotic nature the darkness has to target cancers and infections, though it would take a great deal of precision
Mages who work with Decay being able to call infections out of sick people and towards themselves.
Necromancers reviving dead flesh long enough for a graft to take.
Dark magic being an easy way to pass energy through a body and find malignant growths, like a reverse MRI.

Fujii's post about the mouth inspired me
So happy to see that the pmd fandom is still alive and well
a fantasy comfort story where the characters live their everyday modern life and the magic and the fantasy aspect of it is just there for the aesthetic
