Okay let’s face it the different fabrics are most likely the first thing that comes to ones mind when you think about this colorful and sparkling costumes.
Aside from the basic white fuku you mainly have three other fabrics to look out for:
the skirt and collar fabric
and the fabric for the underskirt part (which luck for us is the same as the bow fabric just another color)
When it comes to the fuku fabric any white spandex or lycra will basically do the job. Sometimes white stretchy fabric can turn slightly see though so please check and decide whether you have to double your fabric. Also note that those costumes have a zipper running all the way across the back, reaching as far as to the skirt. You could maybe skip this if you go with buttons or something similar at the crotch, but since I wanted mine to be as accurate as possible I’ll to go with the zipper as well.
Now let’s start with the easier fabric to track down. The front bow (not the back bow!) and underskirt are the same shimmery and very glittery kind of fabric. The most accurate find I have for this is some rather flimsy glitter jersey you would -around here at least-usually use for some cheesy carnival costume. But hey, at least that means this is relatively easy to come by!
But first let’s have a slightly close look on the references:
keynotes: very very sparkly <3
The fabric you want to look out for is some glitterjersey/ lurexjersey, which means the fabric will have some slight stretch and basically be a pain to work with because you will find that glitter flying around your room for ages but oh well…
You well obviously need two colors: blue and turquoise.
The material will be kind of see-through so I ended up tripping it along with some heavy interfacing for the bow.
As for the main fabric of the skirt and the collar you can see it’s a very shiny fabric, that almost looks metallic. The original fabric has some kind of ‘pattern’ to it, which you can kind of see here:
So far I only tracked down this fabric in a different color, but you can always go for some metallic jersey or jersey lamé which will look pretty similar.
aaaannd skip that first part of that sentences because… I just found it o0

The price is everything else then nice and if anyone finds another shop pls feel welcome to share your source! (or not and spare me from debating whether or not to place an order when I have 4m of my metallic jersey already here….^^°)
Bonus-Find: the back bow!
Okay actually I wouldn’t have included this point here because it still gave me headaches, but I was lucky again and finally finally found the fabric!
It’s not the same as the front bow. Although similar in color the back bow material seems to be some kind of foil, or laminated fabric which again looks rather flimsy and kind of light in real life. This point kind of drove me crazy because especially after seeing myu life again I could literally guess the texture and feel this material would have but wasn’t able to find it anywhere.
Ton of research later I am pretty convinced they used some kind of holografic lamé like these:

if anyone knows how to order from this site let me know!
