I was rewatching and something got my atention, tell me what you think. Kala and Wolfgang had sex on ep 6, then they had the "morning after" talk, she says "Im trying to make a life". They only see each other again in the restaurant scene on ep 8, right? Then, she talks to Riley on ep 10 asking how it is to be with Will. Then she talks to Wolfgang again, in the same episode, and you remember he was the one who wanted to talk, and she finally agree to meet him. Wasn't it a sudden change of heart?
Hmm I think you might be misunderstanding the entire Kalagang relationship because it was never about the heart, and always about the logic.
Going back to the beginning, Kala & Wolfgang’s hearts have always been with each other - from the very first second they laid eyes on one another in episode 1x02. From that point on, it was truly love at first sight and that has NEVER been a question. With that being said, the biggest issue they both had to face/overcome was the looming negativity of their individual logics.
For instance - when it comes to Wolfgang, he always believed that Kala was way too good for him; that he was never going to be enough. His world of violence and criminal activity was something he wanted to keep her safe from, something he wanted to keep her as far away from as possible. And this wasn’t because his heart wasn’t with her, it’s because it was. He wanted to protect her and keep her safe and he believed sending her off to be with Rajan was the only way to do that. He knew Rajan could give her a good life, and more importantly he knew he could give her a safe life. But with recent events in season 2 we learned that might not be so, since Rajan is also tied up in a world of criminal activity. So with this new discovery, Wolfgang’s logic changes. If she isn’t safe with him and she isn’t safe with Rajan, she should at least be with the man she loves so that they can try and keep each other safe. And the man she loves has ALWAYS been Wolfgang. When they have the “talk” in episode 10, they both come to terms that they can’t avoid their love anymore, that their individual logics are getting them no where, and that they’re finally going to be together - some place far away from all the violence. Some place where they can start over brand new (Paris).
For Kala, she always thought that the right thing to do was to conform to society and the wishes of her friends & family. They all kept pushing her by convincing her that Rajan was the perfect man for her, the one she should be with (well, everyone except for her wonderful supportive father who would have been happy for her either way). But Kala was practically persuaded into this marriage in the first place. She had no interest in Rajan from the beginning, but believed she could fall in love with him eventually because that’s what happened for her parents - and for soooo many other marriages in her culture. Remember how different Kala’s upbringing is, and how traditional Indian society is when it comes to marriage. Rajan is a well established, kind hearted man who she was already engaged to marry, before she even met Wolfgang. Then witnessing what Wolfgang did at the end of season 1 only pushed her even farther in the direction of her logic, believing she could be “happy enough” with her choice. That’s why she says to Wolfgang that she is trying to make a life. But he responds with an extremely important and valid point; that “pretending isn’t a life.” He knows Kala better than anyone and he’s absolutely right; Kala has been pretending with Rajan the whole entire time because her heart has always been with Wolfgang.
At this point, after everything they’ve been through, they both realize that their love for one another is inevitable. It always has been and always will be because they’re soulmates. So this is the point when they have a change of LOGIC (not heart). They realize they’re only going to be truly happy if they’re together, so Kala decides it’s time to tell Rajan the truth so she can finally follow her heart to Wolfgang. But then, as we all know by now, shit hits the fan.
All I know is that Season 3 better fix this mess.
