hi friends, clearly this is a bit of a transitional period for my blog, so i'm going to hit you with two more changes and i am sorry in advance for any confusion this is going to cause - but i am going to be changing my url one more time - storyfm > subatomicblip > cliqbaits - as i have decided to merge my oc multi with this one. this should not affect any threads other than the url change, and I am sorry for the confusion and inconveniences this might cause.
cliqbaits is moving.
drop this sunflower 🌻 into the inboxes of the blogs that make you happy !!! let's spread a little sunshine ☀️ !
you are so sweet you're going to make me cry.
Why is it so easy to slip back into those feelings? Kyle had told himself this time that it wouldn't happen again. He'd tried to move on and focus on work and studying. Forget about men. Why do these feelings just sprout up again when he's tried so hard to quiet them? "You were working?" It's easier to believe it than to question it. Which makes Kyle feel pathetic.
He falls silent, polishing glasses and trying to ignore the way that Kip's eyes are burning into them. "I missed you." The words tumble out eventually, his stomach coiling with twisting loneliness and resentment at having given in so easily. "Just - Stop pretending you want me, alright? I'll have sex with you. I'll listen to your ideas. You don't need to keep acting like you missed me." It's his attempt at standing strong. It's not really working. He clears his throat, returning to his polishing. "Did you see they're making a movie about the making of Apocalypse Now?"
henry nods, his eyes wide, and face so sincere he really should have considered a career in the theatre, "you know i had those scripting contracts." he says, leaning into the bar, his hand resting on the bar top, palm up and he waits, for kyle to take it, to show that he's stepped back into them. he's not waiting long, smiling down at the hand in his and biting the corner of his lips to surprise a grin, "i missed you so much. i thought about you every single day." and the biggest surprise was that he had, kyle is special to him. more special than anyone else henry was seeing or had been with lately. there was just something about kyle he never could get his fill of.
"i always miss you." his pout returning when kyle insists what they have is just sex, and he doesn't like the feeling that twists in his gut at the implication that what they have is cheap. he didn't write poetry about things that were cheap. they had a connection, they had depth. "don't say that. don't say things just to hurt me, ky. i know i did wrong, that's why i'm here, trying to make things better." it's manipulative, and in the moment henry knows it but says it anyways, needs kyle back, so the ends will justify the means. "you've always been more than just sex, and it hurts when you say you're not…"
elisha brushes his fingers through sawyer’s hair, drawing him in closer to cover his lips with more kisses – his cheeks, his forehead, his nose, all down his jaw and throat. he wants sawyer to know how much he means to elisha and does his best to show it through various acts and the repitition of the words i love you bleeding with sincerity. “hey, nothing has to be different then, yeah?” of course, they, as people, will change and evolve as life happens to them, but elisha’s confident they’ll do so together. he eagerly welcomes his lover into his lap, kissing him breathlessly. “i love you, too, more than you can comprehend.” doesn’t sawyer know that he’s exactly what elisha’s been begging the universe for? he is this man’s dream come true.
elisha's touch is grounding, bringing sawyer back down to earth with him and he nods slowly, nothing has to be different. things can change, but what they have doesn't have to. and he believes in elisha, the sincerity in his eyes is always clear, and sawyer's grateful to have a partner who seems to anticipate his needs, no matter how irrational they might be. "yeah. yeah." he murmurs his agreement against lips he knows by touch alone, kissing his lover and melting into his hold, "i don't know what i've done to have you…" his musings are whispers barely spoken, thanking whatever power in the universe game him this man, who's gentle and compassionate and creative. "i love our life together." he adds, which is why he's always so terrified of losing it, even when there are no eminent threats to their way of being.

despite the nature of the world that they live in, wes remains calm and serene – a quietness among the chaos, a watching eye. he’s a good counter to blade, that’s for certain, but they’ve always been opposing, magnetized poles. it feels like wes couldn’t get away from blade even if he tried (even if he wanted to). but he doesn’t want to. so he stays firmly rooted where he is, ready for the other man whenever he comes calling. it’s the only relief he gets. “okay.” he replies back just as easily, pliant, ready to take orders – at least from this man, right now. he leans back, drinks blade in, pulls him down on top of him just to feel the weight of him. “i’m always overthinking.” he sighs, fingers in the hair at the back of the other’s head. he nods at the question. “how long can you stay?” he wants it, however long it is, he wants it.
"you are…you have to stop thinking so much." and despite what most people thought about blade, he was thinking all the time too. it was just easy to let people think there wasn't a brain inside his head, less dangerous to appear as cold and detached when the truth couldn't be further away. he'd always been a deep thinker, he was analytical about the ways he planned to lead his club in a new direction. that was why he was in such a precarious spot - the old head didn't want change, blade knew change was vital in this new world. and he wanted change. for his sons. for his daughter, who he adored. it was really she who had changed it all for him. the moment he'd held that tiny bundle in his arms, it was like something clicked into place. nearly a year later and he was implementing those changes.
"a while…" he mumbled, letting his shoulders drop, relaxing into wes' touch. he should have been back hours ago, but this was where he'd rather be, and so he'd stay a while longer. "why don't you try to rest. i'll stay until you fall asleep." he promised, kissing wes slowly before settling on the bed next to him, and pulling his arms around the blonde, "one day things are going to be different." he added, no explanation needed, because they'd been saying it to each other since they were kids. one day…but they both knew deep down that day would never come. not in the life they'd been born into. there was only one way out - and running wasn't an option. "sleep now baby."
wren has a natural grace about him, that’s true, and he knows that people are sometimes envious of the way he carries himself, the casual ease with which he can strike up a conversation with anyone. it makes him exceptional at his job and difficult to ignore on auditions. he always leaves a mark, one way or the other, but it feels like he’s left a bad one on teo – a foul taste sitting on his tongue. and that doesn’t feel good for wren who feels as though he’s never done anything but been kind toward teo, often reaching out for something across the void (even if buffers were always present). it’s been a long string of things that have led him to the conclusion that teo doesn’t like him, but his continued comments (and presentation of such comments) only server to solidify this assumption. “right…” he says, lips pursed.
wren’s genuinely baffled when teo looks at him like he’s gobsmacked, like this is news or confusing somehow. he wants to be irritated and snap at teo about the laundry list of wrongs and perceived slights, but he can’t bring himself to do it with the way the other’s looking at him, asking him if he did something with such an innocence that it softens every hardened edge that wren had sharpened ready for the defenses.
something in him dissipates, like letting the steam out, and he watches teo curiously as he frowns, looks at the ground, takes that fragile and shaking breath as he apologizes, even though he doesn’t quite know what he’s apologizing for. it’s endearing, wren thinks, and the smallest of smiles creeps up on his lips. he tucks golden blond curls behind an ear and steps closer, especially as the confession falls from teo’s lips. i like you a lot, wren. it matters more than being told how cool teo perceives him to be (like that’s hard?). “it’s not anything you’ve really done, per se, more, like, subtle shit… it feels like you’re always avoiding me. even now, you’re suggesting i leave? like, why? you don’t want to hang out if i’m so cool?” he asks, catching teo’s gaze with his own curious eyes. “i like you, too, shit, teo…” he pushes the other’s shoulder playfully. “take advantage of the situation… stop walking around like you’re a ghost! people want to talk to you, want to know you. besides, that whole awkward thing you got going on is pretty cute.”
he's struggling to process it all. how anyone could think he hates wren? how anyone could hate wren? wren, who is the most vibrant person he's ever met, so full of life and energy and a smile that could genuinely kill teo if it was trying to. no, there had to be some sort of mistake. no one could hate wren, least of all teo, who spent so much of his time trying to avoid the way his heart flips every time the blonde so much as glances in his direction. as if teo is worthy of a glimpse of the sunlight wren radiants. "i-…" his confusing is palpable, he knows it, he sees it in the way wren reconsiders his accusation, in the way he's being studied and teo does his best impression of a guy who can withhold scrutiny. trying not to glance away, trying not to allow the flush across his chest continue to creep up his neck and onto his cheeks - he hasn't succeeded though, and after a moment of inspection from wren he has to look away, if only just to catch his breath.
"i'm sorry." and he is, but after a moment he's trying not to break into a grin, what wren describes is not him trying to push wren away, or make him feel othered, but he doesn't know how to explain himself, and if he couldn't he's not sure he's ready to make that sort of assertion. no one knows he's gay. he's only just figured it out himself. and telling wren will only lead to heartache, of that teo is sure. "i just…i figured someone like you would have better things to do, than wrap silverware and talk to…well…me?" he shrugged, "no one talks to me. i'm…" a ghost. that's how he's always seen himself, so it renders him speechless to hear wren say it, as if he's sensed the ghost hovering nearby, waiting to be noticed, but just as scared of the very same thing. "i don't think anyone…no.." he laughed humorlessly at that. no one wants to talk to him. besides his sisters maybe. his parents rarely even did, unless it was about the restaurant or school. at some point he'd just realized he wasn't that interesting of a person. not like wren. who everyone seemed to gravitate towards, leaning in to take in every second of whatever story he told, embellished with funny anecdotes, and hitting all the right notes to make people laugh and connect. teo could never imaging anyone hanging on his words in such a way.
"no." he answered in response, shaking his head, "thank you but no." he shrugged, "you are welcome to stay…i really didn't mean to upset you. i just…i assumed you'd want to leave."
eddie’s anxiety about it bleeds into their every interaction. they don’t live together (yet! eli reminds himself with perhaps too much hope), but they see each other frequently enough because eli is never satiated. it’s eddie. that’s it. eddieeddieeddie. that’s all he can think about to the point that his brain is practically swiss cheese outside of all the classes he’s attending, busting his ass to stay at the top of the game because he has to be the best at something. and school’s always been his gig. eli does his best to quell the storm that torments his lover, but he doesn’t understand the whole gravity of it. he’s too naive about the situation, can’t see the forest for the trees – really. but eddie does. eddie knows danger is looming, that the fucking hawthornes, of all people, will never accept a man like him into their fold. he’s less than, marred by society – a pockmarked, diseased thing to be kept at a distance. but eli doesn’t see the world they do, he’s never fit in with them. all he can see is all the good in eddie, all the shit he’s overcome, how he’s had a gun to his head from the moment of his birth and just kept walking forward, dodging those bullets whatever way he could. but this is inevitable. his mother and father (and sister) know he’s seriously seeing someone. the introductions have to be made. and it’s gone on too long.
[sms → eddie bear ❤️ ] ha-ha-ha [ sms → eddie bear ❤️ ] i got you a suit, did you not see it? it’s in your closet.
it's not funny. but eddie doesn't say so. he can feel the dark clouds closing in, and it's suffocating. his therapist says not to immediately jump into doom and gloom, and he does his best to imagine a scenario where the worst doesn't come to fruition. it's only this universe, where he's with elijah that therapy has ever been something he'd consider, because suddenly eddie has a reason to be better. for elijah. but no matter how much better he gets, it'll never be enough, not for eli's family. and despite the supposed power of positive thinking, eddie's right back to where he started, imagining every scenario from seeing mrs. hawthorne faint on sight upon meeting him, to some sort of horror movie plot where the hawthornes collectively decide to hunt him for sport.
he sighs, a calloused hand rubbing his now clean-shaven face and nods at eli's text, walking over to his tiny closet in the house that he's had under renovation since he bought it three years ago and finds a suit that brings on a wave of nausea. it's beautiful. and eddie doesn't even want to begin to think about how much it cost, because he already knows that even though financially he's no longer struggling, he still couldn't afford it.
[ sms ⇋ richie rich ] i'm going to look like the help. [ sms ⇋ richie rich ] maybe they'll let me stay if i get them drinks all night.
if only eddie could get into his brain. poor eli. he really can’t relax, so it truly is hilarious that he’s telling eddie to do so despite the current turn of events. if elijah had been the one to ruin such a piece, he’d be in shambles, probably ready to throw himself off the nearest high surface just from the mortification alone. but he can dish out the advice he’s not willing to take himself. it’s all part of the territory and will probably give him an ulcer one day, but, as it stands, he’s young and can handle it. “i know it was.” he says softly, and his expression is as tender as his words. “i saw it happen, remember?”
elijah grins when the guy says he can do weed. “perfect. i’ll take it, then.” he says, figuring every dealer from here to the other side of the country claims to have the good shit, and he doesn’t really care as long as it gets the job done. he knows he’s been overcharged for lesser shit, comes with the territory of being a stupid rich kid. but tonight? he’s getting it for free. who cares if it’s reggie? he’s got a hot guy to share it with, and that’s more than he can say most nights.
as soon as the stranger reacts to what eli’s said, he wishes he could take it back. he frowns a little, uneasy on his own feet. if that’s what it takes. he completely misses the smirk on the broader man’s lips and flushes slightly, thankful that it’s dark outside and they’re not immediately under a street lamp.
he shifts backward when the other guy gets closer, like elijah’s crossed a line and eddie’s just leaning into it because he thinks he owes the younger guy something. he does, sort of, but not his body, not his time, and elijah’s not going to take advantage of it. “only if you’re into it. i’ll be icked out otherwise.” he confesses, eyes scanning the dude’s face. “my name’s elijah, by the way.” he says, thinking they should probably know each other’s names if he’s going to leave here with the guy.
he sort of despises the implication that he’d be doing this as a fuck you to his family, and huffs a sigh. “how could it be a fuck you to them if they don’t even know?” he asks, voice quiet but curious. he nods his head, though, when asked if he wants to get out of here. “never wanted something more.” he confesses and falls into line behind the other guy, heading toward his truck. “why’d you park so far away?”
eddie nodded, his gaze never leaving the other's face, he was adorable, but there was something more there, in his eyes. a sadness that eddie recognized. it was the same sadness he carried with him every day - loneliness. he let out a soft laugh and shook his head, "yeah i remember." he was pretty sure he'd never forget this night, meeting someone like this guy wasn't something that you ever forgot about. he was without a doubt the most gorgeous man eddie had ever laid eyes on, and that was saying something because in his life he'd met a lot of people, it was just the nature of his work. but none had ever struck him quite like this, to the point of near-stupidity.
"yeah?" he grins, his offer accepted, and it's the first time in a while he's offered a freebie and really meant it. this guy, this rich kid would never have to pay for a thing from eddie if eddie had any say in the matter. he might hand over his entire stash right now if demanded, and still manage to leave the interaction feeling like he got the fair end of the deal. "well then i think we should get out of here." he agreed, wishing it wasn't so dark, wishing they weren't so out in the open and he might be able to offer something more than the stash in his pocket to satiate the other.
"elijah."
the word rolled off his tongue in a way that felt almost familiar, and he let it process through his brain, connecting it to soft facial features, that sexy voice and committing it into the deepest parts of his brain. "elijah." he repeated, "i'm eddie." he says after a moment, in truth he hasn't been called eddie by anyone in years - other than his mother. it's buck to everyone else, he's been buck for as long as he can remember. but elijah has him wanting to try on something new, "well…edward, but not even my mother calls me that." he adds on with a soft laugh, folding his arms across his chest as elijah continues.
oh. the implications of that are dangerous. the idea that eddie might not just be a dance on the wild side. he shakes off the thought immediately though. even rich kids liked a thrill every now and again, even a secret one. and eddie was happy to comply, to be used by elijah for the night, or however long he needed. "you'll see." he added with a grin, looking to elijah, taking in his face again, he didn't want to forget a single thing. by the time they reached eddie's beat up truck, looking like he'd only just driving it out of the wrecking yard and saved it from being turned into a cube of scrap metal, "that's why." he gestured vaguely in the direction of the vehicle and walked over to the passenger side, pulling the door open for elijah to climb into it. "don't worry…i'll keep you safe." he promised, and meant it more than he'd meant anything that had come before this.
chocolate hues widen, shock written on his features. ari's shy, usually prefers to walk through life going unnoticed, so the idea of being on camera terrifies him. "rip…" gives the other a smile ( his roommate is always coming up with wild ideas ). but, ari can't deny this is a brilliant one. brows furrow, "wait, are you serious? you'd…you'd be okay with your viewers thinking we're dating?"
"yeah, why not?" and he takes a beat, he's never really looked at his roommate as more than that, his sister had warned him that dating roommates was a bad idea, so he'd kept it platonic until now. but if they're fake dating, he couldn't have picked someone better. ari is gorgeous, plus he's one of rip's best friends. if he was going to date someone, ari would be a pretty great candidate. "my audience will love you." he adds reassuringly, "so…what do you say? wanna be my on stream boyfriend?"

Kyle has to suppress an eyeroll, tossing the cloth to the side and folding his arms across his chest. He can feel Kip's stare burning into him, silently telling him to resist. But then he sees that fucking flicker of sincerity and his rigid expression crumbles. It's pathetic how quickly he folds at the slightest show of affection. How much he craves someone wanting him. Even if he knows it's not healthy.
He turns away from Henry, focusing on making him one of the new cocktails he's been trying out. "I don't think you actually miss me. I think you miss having something to write about." He mutters as he salts the rim of the glass, looking over at Henry. "Do you even think about how it makes me feel? Needing space one minute then pulling me back the next?" Kyle pours the cocktail into the glass, placing it in front of him and picking up the money. He puts some of it in the register and pockets the tip before returning to rest against the bar. "It's been weeks." Fuck, he's hot. "What have you even been doing?"
he can see he's won. it's written in kyle's body language before the drink is even made, and henry makes a point of picking up the glass and inspecting it before taking a long sip, appreciating it for the art it is. "of course i miss you, ky." he pouted, but chose not to answer the question specifically. it wouldn't help the situation to admit he'd been in ibiza on a bender sleeping with several men and women who's faces he couldn't even remember anymore.
"i was working. had some script deadlines." he says in a non-committal tone, and some of it is true, he did have some deadlines, he'd missed them of course, but kyle didn't need to know that part right now. "did you miss me?" he asks instead, "did you even think about me?" he adds, and he can feel the heat of kyle's coworker's glare. he knows the history too, and takes pleasure in knowing he's had kyle in ways kip hasn't, even if kip wasn't remotely interested in kyle in that way.
Kyle lets out a frustrated grunt as he wipes down the bar. "Henry, I'm working." He hisses softly, trying to ignore the pull that always happens whenever he's around. Why the fuck can't Kyle just say no? Why does he always end up back in Henry's bed, hating himself and the whole situation that brought him there.
"You wanted a break. You got it. You can't just come in here and try to get me back just because you're in a writing slump." Although - Part of Kyle feels a little flattered. Which is the fucking problem - Stop it. He's so tired. And lonely. And sick of watching Kip and Scott flirting.
"I'll give you ten minutes to talk. But you've to buy a drink." A pause. "And tip me well."
it's pathetic, the way he's always crawling back, transactional the way they function, and there had been a time when he might have found that tacky, over-tipping his younger boyfriend in exchange for one more night together. but at this point their tit for tat was how the relationship worked. they were good together. they were terrible together. kyle was the perfect muse. henry was obsessed. until he wasn't.
"i didn't want a break." a lie. but he wasn't about to get down to the technicalities of their break up, "i just needed space. i'm an artist…sometimes i just need the freedom to express myself." he explained, his eyes meeting kyle and there's a sincerity in them that he rarely shows. he misses kyle. misses the way they are together, the way kyle inspires him.
"make me something new.." he finally spoke, letting out a sigh as his hand reached for his wallet and he pulled out a hundred and set it on the bar. "come home with me. i miss you baby."

rafferty’s stupid for sending it and almost consumed by the shame of it. as soon as he hits the up arrow to send the message off into the ether, he has to put his phone beside him, face down so he’s not tempted to face his mistake. he picks up a glass of vodka, chilled, from beside him and swallows down a bitter mouthful. rick’s the first man he ever loved, and he’s given pieces of himself to the older guy that he can never get back. he’s okay with that, though, romanticizing the notion that maybe, one day, they’ll find their way back to each other again.
or maybe not.
your first great love doesn’t have to be your last, but isn’t it so romantic? an enticing and lovey thought?
he’s not mad at shep for not listening to his warnings – he got over that a long time ago. he’s just a little jaded with how rick reacted afterward, letting what they had unravel like thread from a spool rolling across the floor, forgotten in the corner. at least until it’s convenient, or until jericho does some reminding. sending texts like a kick.
[ sms → be strong ] i need it [ sms → be strong ] i need you
he swallows down the rest of the measure of alcohol he’s poured and shifts back down in the sofa, phone screen unlocked, message page with shep open so he can watch the next messages as they pour in. the desperation and need haven’t left him, still buried within the very fabric of his dna. he doesn’t think he’ll ever escape this, but he doesn’t think he wants to, either.
jericho's text spurs something in rick, it's deep seated and vulnerable. the younger man has always brought out a side of him that seems almost untapped in every other aspect of his life. he's given more to jericho than anyone else before, and he knows there won't be anyone after. perhaps its the nature of what they do, the unrelenting trust between them, the things they've seen, experienced, dreamed together. jericho knows the inner corridors of his mind, seen the things he's seen in dreams and never turned away, stared the darkest parts of him down, and stayed. loved him. it was long ago now that rick knew he'd developed an addiction to that feeling, and he'd been chasing it ever since.
[ sms ⇋ echo ] our spot.
because nothing else needs to be said. the safe house had always been a middle ground for them, especially since things had fallen apart. it's a halfway house for their feelings, a place to put everything rick pushed aside now and only resorted to on nights like this. he's out of his house in minutes, flying through the city in a daze until he reaches the destination where he'll get his fix. they have to stop this. they're compromised, but they have been for years. and beyond that, he knows about echo and ranger. he knows that look in echo's eyes, knows he's lost him already, but he'll hold on until the ship is entirely sank.
"i thought you were abroad?" he questioned, as soon as he climbed out of his car to find jericho waiting for him, the sight enough to make him reach into his pocket for his totem again, sliding finger tips over the ridges. you're not dreaming. he reminds himself when he walks over, his hand reaching to touch jericho's face, pulling him close and kissing him roughly. "let's get out of the open…"

elisha knows life isn’t black and white – it’s so many areas of grey, and color, too, but he chooses to perceive it the way he does, just as sawyer’s perception is a choice (even if not an active one). he hopes to break some of the habits in his lover some day, hopes to help him see the world a little differently. but, even if he doesn’t, he’s happy loving sawyer just the way he is, and happy reminding him of it, too. “i’ll always talk you off the ledge. no matter what ledge it is.” he says, and he squeezes sawyer to him, stroking the other’s hair so gently. “you’re everything to me, you don’t need to be more or wish for anything different. i don’t.” he reassures, leaning in to offer sawyer as many kisses as his heart desires.
it's elisha's generosity that he's still not attuned to, the way his partner gives affection, love, gratitude and support without fail, without expecting anything in return that leaves sawyer off balance, feeling like he needs to repay some unspoken debt, because that's the way life has always treated him. it's grounding, but at the same time sawyer feels inadequate. "i don't want anything to be different…" but everything always changes. he doesn't speak his fears out loud tonight though, because tonight he's in elisha's arms, feeling his breath against his own lips and it feels like for once maybe things won't, so he takes the kisses, crawling into elisha's lap greedily, sighing into his lips. "i love you so much."
diego feels sympathy for the man – he wishes there was something more he could offer. it’s in that moment that he decides that he’s going to do this, whatever it is, for the benefit of the other man and his family. at first, he had just been humoring his agent as a favor, but now he’s locked in – no matter what. he just hopes he can have some creative liberties.
he sits through the meeting and listens to what’s pitched, turning toward griffin when all the is have been dotted and ts crossed. “i’m a blank slate, though, you know me. i’m aching for something queer, something maybe a little horrifying… you know?” he asks with a grin. “let’s go get lunch and discuss this further?” he suggests. “you have a brilliant mind, and i’ve been meaning to pick it for some time.”
griffin's whole demeanor is different now, knowing that there's a chance diego would sign onto the project. as the pitch goes on, he can see the vision, what this could be. they could tell a story they'd never told before, from perspectives that felt fresh, while still being written by someone - two someones - who had a track record for success. there was a genius to the idea and he almost felt back for writing it off before now. once the contracts were signed into fruition and some tentative deadlines set, he looked to diego, already taking the lead on brainstorming and smiled. "i think that's something we could do." he nods, he'd always wanted to tell more queer stories, felt he should as it was his own experience as a bisexual man who'd never hidden that fact, maybe now was his chance to try something new. a new chapter, so to speak.
"i'd like that. are you free now?" he asked, though he wasn't sure how brilliant his mind was lately, the block he'd had for months still felt firmly lodged into place, but he had faith that excitement about a new project might pry it loose, open the floodgates again and usher him into a new era where he could write without a crush weight on his chest. where every word didn't feel like loss. "my brain is on the table for you doc. not sure how much good stuff you'll find in there though, it's been on a bit of a hiatus lately, i'm afraid."
