          “Gar, this isn’t a horror film.” Or, at least, Tim hoped it wasn’t. He’d heard scarier on the GCPD radio lines, he’d seen and experienced scarier. But this... This started sounding like regular holiday shenanigans. He’d be more laser focused on Calendar Man’s Arkham cell if he wasn’t trying to entertain the thought that there might be something else in the air. He was no stranger to the strange, but this... this was unexplained.

          Not to mention he had a frantic metahuman to try and console.

It’d been easy to fall back into their familiar routine. Patrolling together, sparring with each other, even just sitting in silence—it’d been a sense of normalcy she lacked in Hong Kong, one she willingly gave up when she left Gotham. When she left her family. Cass swallowed back the bitterness that crept up the back of her throat, grabbing her water bottle in an attempt to rinse it out, except it never really went away. She cleared her throat anyways.

Tim had never been the hardest for her to read. No, that title belonged to someone else. She knew that asking him to work out together would eventually lead to some type of feelings talk, but she didn’t know he’d start off like this. Cass scooted closer to her brother, nudging him with her shoulder. “That depends,” she starts signing, then reconsiders, continuing with a slight teasing tilt to her voice, “Did you think I didn’t?”

          Tim had been gasping for breath when he’d asked the question, a bit off the handle but it was a question that had been on his mind since he heard whispers around the manor that the Wayne Daughter was back. His grip had barely tightened on the wooden staff in his grip as he spoke it, more concerned with his balance on shaky knees and the hand tousling his sweat-soaked curls than the tone in his voice. But... In hindsight, in the next breath he took, maybe it came out a little harsh. Maybe a little too forced, maybe a little too... Something. He had a special sort of relationship with Cass, where they’d both been brought up on completely different sides but met in the middle to do the same, honest work... Though, Tim wasn’t so sure his current work, the work he’d done so recently, had been all that honest anymore.

          He let out a breathless chuckle at the nudge, almost thankful it was less of a hit he was sure his brothers would’ve given him in it’s place. His brows knit together in slight thought, not as deep as his normal state of deep, contemplative thinking, but enough to suggest the cogs were turning deep in his mind. “Well-” He started, one hand automatically gesturing as she had started before. “I’m a pretty hard guy to miss. You know, with all the brooding and computering I do in my cave of a room.”
