Hiiii I saw that you posted about creating the sevenspins au and I just wanted to ask if you're aware that there's another artist who did the hockey player Mike x figure skater Will au before you? You posted about it on the 22nd of Feb and they posted about it on the 12th of Feb but they didn't call it sevenspins.
I promise I'm not trying to be rude but I just wanted to bring your attention to it because I think both of you played an important role in making it into a widely accepted au. I know this is all just for fun but I just wanted to let you know regardless because we should all lift each other up and give credit where credit is due 💙💛

Also I love hockey player Will x figure skater Mike but that's just a personal preference and you don't need to like it but saying people can't invert the sevenspin au is a bit mean since people are allowed to do that if they like it.
It's like Surfsahoy and scoopspizza, Mike works at Scoops Ahoy whole Will works at Surfer Boys Pizza but people swapped it so they made Mike work at Surfer Boys Pizza while Will works at Scoops Ahoy. Some people don't like it but some people do and I don't think we should ban people from having fun with the new variants because at the end of the day it's just all of us Bylers having fun :)
I'm trying to be as respectful and kind as I possibly can, because I just wanted to bring this to your attention, and I'm trying really hard not to diminish the effort you put into this au.

hello! Thank you everyone for all the love on my variant (sevenspins), I’d like to clear some things up.
1st — This variant was indeed my original idea and made by me.
- I have seen quite a lot of people be mixed up as the creator of this au, it is indeed not a big issue but I’d like to just say this! The name “sevenspins” comes from a comment on my original video of constructing this au. ( user forevrnats on my tiktok @/lacedrecords )
people have also been saying I copied this idea which is not true at all!!
2nd — The roles will not be switched
- to the people saying things such as “the roles should be switched”, “can we switch the roles”, “hear me out sevenspins flipped(?)” kindly I’d like to say please👏come👏up👏with👏ur👏own👏ideas !! yes you can not like an idea but no you may not ask me to switch the roles of MY idea
3rd — the competition??
- please do not say things under the lines of “___ is better then sevenspins because…” or “sevenspins is better then ___ because..” competition will never be accepted or enjoyed by me because this is simply just for fun!

the internalized homophobia plot line within the sevenspins au is so fucking juicy
like imagining, will byers, a renowned figure skater that came from poverty despite the common idea that pushes ice skating is only for the wealthy, comes out as gay to the public years later. which of course immediately puts a huge strain on his career because of the following backlash, but he still bravely pushes on and ends up competing in the olympics.
and then insert mike wheeler, an equally famous hockey player that is also competing in the olympics the same year along with his team and best friends dustin henderson and lucas sinclair.
now in mike's case, he absolutely adores the ice, but he never actually wanted to be a hockey player. instead he was much more interested in the storytelling and artistry of figure skating. but the only problem was his father, who constantly berated him for the desire and always argued about how he'd never let his son do anything so feminine, and decidedly pushed his son into hockey instead.
so for years mike never allowed himself to look more into figure skating because of how badly he wanted to pursue it meanwhile dustin being an absolute philomath knows just about every fact about anyone who steps on the ice. so as the hockey team watches william byers step onto the ice for his performance he notices mike's immediate shift in focus and starts telling him his life story.
mike is absolutely enraptured by will as a person, by the artistry in his work, and by the concept of figure skating once again and immediately knowns that no matter what it takes, he needs to meet will, (maybe learn some skating tips from him because it'll be such an advantage to hockey lucas i swear!), and the story expands into mike accepting his desires, and queerness + more feminine side, falling in love with will and vice versa, + will opening up about how hard being queer can be and how shame still creeps up on him but how he keeps his head up and never stops expressing himself and so on and so forth
just discovered sevenspins and ts is actually so peak. ngl tho this took way longer than i thought it would 😭 but worth
i’ll draw will next, but i want some opinions because at first i thought that mike would really fit as a figure skater. but this is cute too. idk. help
