i feel homicidally angry every time a white person with a cult following has a controversy with resurrected racist tweets or posts or whatever. black people are always one of the targets (if not the only) and our anger and pain is always dismissed by the white fans who always form a majority of the base. because here come ethel cain fans to dismiss her resurfaced vitriolic racism as ‘uneducated deep south mistakes’. as her black fans on tiktok have been pointing out, she had access to tumblr, aka a part of the internet. she would’ve mingled with black people, who every day were experiencing overt racism and racist microaggressions. why do white people always get infantilised and coddled for ‘not knowing any better’ but it’s just the way the world goes for black people? and why are we always expected to just take it on the chin? i’m furious.
