Here there be classpects. Send me a chat about classes, aspects, sessions, trying to figure out your own title, theory, whatever. This blog is currently CLOSED.
Hey folks, guess this is where the road ends.
So Iām sure youāve noticed I havenāt posted publicly in a while, especially not about Homestuck stuff (promotion for my album is a different thing altogether, but it is way more stylish.) And with the recent news about Tumblr prompting people to leave the site, I think itās about time Iām honest with the state of this blog in general. Iām pretty much done on this blog with Tumblr.
Thatās not to say Iām totally done, of course. Iām going to be compiling everything Iāve posted into a master document sometime soonish(?), which should hold everything I believe about the classpect system that I love so much.Ā
At the same time, Iām a 20-something nonbinary music major struggling to make it in the business, which is why Iām getting way too busy to actively run this kind of blog as much as I used to. If you like Homestuck music or mildly emo queer music, please check out my musical project The Facades! Or hey, hit me up if you want me to write a song for your OCs, I can do that as well.
Lastly, I want to thank the three-and-a-half thousand people whoāre following me for joining me on this ride. I started this blog almost five years ago during the middle of the Gigapause, and I never expected this to get as big as it is today. The classpect system has grown for me from a weird little mechanic from a weird little webcomic into something really important to who I ended up being, and it still is today. I met so many people through this blog that are really important to me, and Iāve helped so many more that Iāll never know.Ā
This blog is dead, but the person behind it is going god tier. Join me, wonāt you?

You want your own theme music? Something for your next TV show, movie, short film, D&D campaign gone on for too long, or just want to hear every time the word ādeadā is used in a goth album? Iāve got years of experience and love making music, and Iād be more than happy to write you original music, mix and master your next album, or even make you a musical meme for your very own use.
Check out the Commissions tab on my Tumblr for details! Check under the Read More for who I am and why Iām doing this.
So yeah. I write in a Homestuck-inspired musical style if that helps, but I'll admit I wasn't planning on putting this on this blog for a while. But here we are!
You come into my house and disrespect me like this
You make a mockery of me
You point out a valid flaw in my logic that I shouldāve realized
How..
How dare!
(P.s. this is joke, I am not actually mad)

So you know how the new aspect test is annoying a lot of people
I decided to look into it, mainly because I was annoyed with my results. (Hope. Iāve never seen myself as Hope.)
āLooking into itā started with figuring out which questions coincide with which aspects. (Aspects are definitely paired, by the way. This quiz just confirms that beyond a reasonable doubt.) From there, things got ridiculous and Iām just going to put all of this underneath a cut.Ā
Pretty much what I expected. The thing with tests, whether they're quasi-canon or entirely fanmade, is that they're reductive by nature. If this quiz gives you a new jumping-off point, congrats. As for me, I'll stick with my more in-depth analyses, and if you're concerned about the quiz not giving you the aspect that feels right, my message box is always open.

So Hussie decided to give someĀ āofficialā notes on aspects that really shake up a lot of what my initial thoughts were. Stay tuned for more, probably. Brave new world and all that.
Iāve noticed a spike in new analysis blogs about more specific parts of SBURB (prototyping, alchemization, the classpects of random inanimate objects, etc), and Iād like to take the time to say that Iām always open to helping people out with the mechanics of SBURB in that regard as well, though my specialty is for sure in classpect work.
Except for quadrant, or the inanimate object thing. Canāt really help you there.
As a conclusion to myĀ āFinding Your Titleā event, Iāve gathered all Part 1 responses from classpect blogs and attempted to summarize their information in a single post.
According to several classpect blogs, nearly all criteria in determining oneās class and aspect are encompassed by the following 8 questions.Ā Descriptions of how specific classpect blogs utilize these questions are included under each specific question, after the cut.
My end goal for this event was to guide fans with classpect interest but little expertise in determining their own titles. Ā At the very least, answering these questions may be useful information for any classpect blogs you ask for assistance in determining your title. Ā Blogs currently accepting classpect inquiries (as of January 2017) are listed at the bottom of this post.
Well, people seem to want to see what I had to say. I got about 100-120 chats through the pile out of the 300-400, so keep in mind that itās not a total collection of my chatlogs, or even a list of all the titles, but thereās a fair amount of cool stuff here. Iāll try to remember to keep it updated every so often with new cool facts.
Iāve got it carefully sorted by general game facts, aspects, classes, specific titles, and fun trivia/my opinions of game mechanics. The bloody thing is about sixteen pages long, so have fun scrolling through it if youāre into that stuff.
Itās stored on my blog at this link, and thereās a new tab on my sidebar called Chatlog Information which will also take you there.

First of all, thank you all for sticking with me. I donāt realistically post a hell of a lot on the page proper, even while Iām chatting with people pretty much every day. I really appreciate the support.
Secondly, I was originally planning to post a massive infodump when I reached 2500 followers as a celebration. I would have gone back through all 300-odd one-on-one messages Iāve had with people over the time Iāve been doing this, and assembled a huge pile of my thoughts on classpect in general and a collection of individual titles.
I got through solidly 70 of these messages before giving up when college started up. Thereās still a good deal of information in the logs I did sift through. Would anyone be interested in seeing what I do have?Ā
Hello, Classpect Blogs! The "Finding Your Title" Event: Part 1
Hello, fellow classpect blogs! Ā Iām interested in learning about the different strategies used to determine god tier titles. Ā Ideally this could provide advice for people finding their own titles. Ā However, it will still be informative to understand how you view and assign the classes and aspects! Ā
Specifically, Iām looking for the process you use in assigning god tier titles to real people whom you communicate with, whether IRL or through the magic of the internet. Ā This communication can be āwhat classpect am I?ā-type asks, private conversations through instant messaging, a personality quiz that you created (or want to create), etc.
(Classpect fans who want to write about finding their own title: see Part 2.)
What I would like to know is:Ā How do you assign god tier titles to others?
My process is a pretty personal one that Iāve developed over the last year or so, out of a disappointment that there wasnāt a classpect test around that really expressed everything I wanted to explore through this system. Thereās just no way of accurately discovering someoneās title through pre-written answers. As such, I mostly work through one-on-one messages to help someone discover their title, a system which has worked for quite a number of folks so far. Iād look through this post I made that explains my general opinions on how class and aspect work.
My process is pretty straightforward. First I ask about aspect. The easiest way Iāve found to do this is to ask the person what gets them up in the morning and what they view the universe as being (fundamentally good, evil, indifferent, ordered, etc). Through the wide range of answers I can get, I can usually narrow it down to a few through a matter of the optimistic vs pessimistic and internalized vs externalized axes. Even if Iām still left with a few different options after clarifying questions, I generally move on to class. I generally ask for a brief summary of their personality and their story arc. Who they are, how theyāve grown, and how they need to grow. For me, that defines class, as it is your role in the story. Class is a lot easier to pin down in this way, as it tends to have a lot of similarities. Thieves tend to act at least somewhat similarly to other Thieves, for the most extreme example, so theyāre not hard to pin down. So to summarize, class is about your archetype, while aspect is about your spark.Ā
Both combined can make a story.
Iām always accepting requests for title analysis, help in figuring out your own title, session help, etc. The ask box is closed but I use Tumblr messaging constantly and reliably within 12 hours.
I woke up this morning and found that this little blog of mine managed to reach 2000 followers. I thank each and every one of you for your support over the last two-odd years, and hereās to many more. Also I didnāt get a lot of responses for what I should do in celebration so like feel free to speak up.
So I just noticed that weāre starting to get pretty close to 2000 followers, which is utterly wild. I kinda want to do something cool for the event but Iām not sure what, so Iāll leave it open for you all to respond. What do you think a good 2K event could be?
Since Iāve been working more heavily through 1-on-1 chats (which Iām always open to, please message me), Iāve gotten to think through a lot of really neat ideas about class and aspect that you all never really get to see. Thatās about to change, at least with this post. Iām thinking I might start compiling some of the interesting stuff Iāve come to think about into a series of posts (that may never really come to pass to be fair). While I consider it, have some philosophical musings that I use to help determine class and aspect without ever using a test, unreliable as those can be.
Aspect is how you see and understand the world and yourself, class is how you work with all that. More details under the cut.
Your aspect is what gets you up in the morning. The way I initially figured it out was during a nasty bout of depression where I was just lying in bed and asked myselfĀ āwhy should I really bother getting out of bed today and facing the world?ā My answer was out of sheer spite, essentially āScrew you depression I wonāt do what you tell meā, which is why Iām a Rage player. Aspect is a pretty deeply rooted thing, and it's what you fall back on when times are tough and you have nothing else. It's more obvious with the more internalized aspects like Heart, Hope, or Rage, but I'd like to think it works with Space and Time in its own way.Ā So it's sort of a mixture of the way you view the world, personal philosophy, and motivation in tough spots.
The fastest way I generally approach class is as your story arc. The lessons you learn, the type of person you start and end as, and what impact you leave on the world or the people around you.Ā I vaguely and possibly inaccurately separate these into four categories: stereotypical heroes, sufferers, Peter Parkers, and trickster gods.
The stereotypical heroes are Seer, Sylph, Knight, and Rogue, who fill pretty standard RPG roles (caster/sage, healer, fighter, thief). Their problems and character arcs generally deal with their own way of being a hero, choosing not to be a hero, and/or are just their personal problems and prejudices coming back for them.
The sufferers are Mage, Maid, and Page, and they usually get their asses handed to them. All three of them have to go through hell to get their powers, whether the universe has it out for them, their friends do, or the game itself does. Once they push through all that stuff through, they're survivors and put themselves to good work. They also tend to have a pretty big impact on the story outside of any given fight, good or bad.
The Peter Parkers are Witch, Prince, and Thief, and they have the most sheer combat power out of all the classes (though not the most power, all classes are fairly balanced eventually). Their arc is generally about using their powers responsibly, ideally without having Uncle Ben die on them, or in this case generally murdering their entire team. Using their powers for good and all that jazz. Can be hard to work with but incredibly powerful players.
Finally, the Heir and Bard are trickster gods. Their arcs are vague and indistinct and they ALWAYS have a huge influence of the story, so it's hard to pin them down. They just sort of are, without any real challenge to overcome or without a desire to do so. They do change a lot and have stuff to deal with, sure, but it's less a defining part of them. Their aspect (for the Heir) or sheer chaos (for the Bard) define them more than their class.
Please argue with me about all this stuff, I want to make sure this idea holds water and Iove talking about this system.

So I have noticed when classpecting characters that I have a difficult time figuring out which of the six pairs of the aspect duality they fall under. Example. I cannot identify between a Heart and a Hope player because of the general openness they have towards others, or a Mind or a Void player because they deal with obscuring some aspect whether it be intentions or information. Thankfully, there is a subtle difference to what they focus on. This is the main reason why I have not done this blog for a year because identifying the aspect is what takes the longest and is also to explain exactly.
When I came back to classpecting, it got a little easier for me as I tried to allot the focuses of each aspect and soon realized that each dualities share a certain factor of reality.
Here, I will begin to explain key words to use for the duality pair and how it makes sense to me.
After 4 years in development, hopefully it has been worth the wait. I first started a guide like this many years ago on a different blog. Since Homestuck has recently ended, I now have more information on aspects and classes than I did back then. Iām ready to try this again. *Cracks knuckles.*
