The night of Metallica's 1983 gig, Erin is electrified by the raw energy of the performance. She's in the front row, headbanging and screaming along to every song. After the show, she's exhilarated and a bit disoriented from the intensity of the music and the crowd.
As she makes her way to the bar, she's already had a few too many drinks. The room is spinning, and she's feeling lightheaded. James, still buzzing from the adrenaline of the show, notices her stumbling and quickly comes to her side.
"Hey, Erin, you okay?" he asks, concern etched on his face.
Erin tries to nod, but her head is spinning too much. "Yeah…just need some air…"
James quickly grabs her arm, supporting her as she sways. "Whoa, easy there. Let's get you some water."
But it's too late. Erin's legs give out, and she collapses into James's arms, fainting from intoxication.
James scoops her up, cradling her like a child, and carries her out of the bar, his bandmates and crew members rushing to help. They lay her down on a backstage couch, fanning her and trying to revive her.
As Erin comes to, she's mortified, her head pounding and her mouth dry. James is sitting beside her, a gentle smile on his face.
Erin nods, still feeling woozy. "Yeah…sorry about that…"
James chuckles. "No apologies needed. You're just a little rock 'n' roll overwhelmed."
He hands her a water bottle, and Erin takes a grateful sip. As she looks into James's eyes, she feels a spark of connection she can't ignore.
