그 예쁜 마음의 뿌리는 어디에 있는 걸까. 너무 아무렇지 않게 이야기해서 정말 아무것도 아니라고 착각할 뻔 했다. 감사한 마음은 끝이 없어 어떻게 보면 답답하다. 퐁퐁 솟아나오는 마음을 몽땅 표현하지 못하는 것만 같아서.

What makes me happy: pen and paper, questions to think about, feeling free and limitless.

가만히 두면 마음이 너무 힘드니까 믿음이라는 게 있는 거구나. 믿음만이 사람을 차분하게 잠재울 수 있는 것이라는 생각이 든다. 믿음이 없을 때 불안해진다. 그래서 ‘어떻게든’ 붙잡아야겠다는 이유로 규정이나 틀을 만들어 그 안에 사람들을 가두고, 나자신을 가두고, 그렇게 불안은 더 커지고….

그래서 일단 믿는 건가보다. 믿음이 있으면 생각보다 많은 게 해결이 된다. 나중에 어떻게 될 지는 원래 누구도 모르는 법이니까 일단 믿어본다.

Things aren’t that easy this year, but I guess that means we are still on the right track.

Watercolor + gouache + colored pencils.

This combination is my recent favorite. It allows the artwork to evolve after I apply the paint. The paint spreads and creates marks and gets mixed with other colors, and even the color I put down changes as it dries. These paint and pencil strokes are intentional, but also full of surprises.

I love anything that feels organic; something that feels like it has life and warmth to it. It is not so strictly clean cut that you feel things are accepted, respected, understood, and embraced.

It feels like Autumn runs away faster and faster from us each year. Winter comes to us so quickly.

Autumn has always been my favorite season. I usually don’t like anything cold, except the cool fall breeze and iced coffee. Trying to appreciate this friendly coldness before it goes away.
