1. Where are you from? The US of A

2. Fandoms? MCU, obviously, but Harry Potter is my first and forever love.

3. Tea, coffee or hot-chocolate? TEA ALL DAY EVERY DAY, though I do enjoy some coffee and hot chocolate every once and a while.

4. What's your occupation (ie, job, student?) College Student

5. Fav food? Do I have to pick just one?! Ugh, okay, um. . . I can’t do it. I have to say Italian food just over all and I’m talking traditional Italian food not Italian American, though I love that, too. Pasta and bread and cheese and gelato and more! I love it all!

6. Ambitions/Hobbies? Reading fiction and fanfiction, writing, baking, & submerging myself in music.

7. Hogwarts house? I’ve been sorted into Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, and Hufflepuff, sooooo. . . I guess if I have to pick one I would pick Ravenclaw.

8. Fav musical artist(s)? Bastille, Queen, the Eagles, & RUSH, just to name a few.

9. What do you think is the closet thing to real magic? The unfailing order of the universe; there is so much that we still don’t know and probably will never know because the universe is so vast, but it is always united and cohesive and we are part of that. We are an irrefutable and irreplaceable part of the universe and that unity is just mind boggling and amazing!

10. If you had to choose a fictional world to live in for the rest of your life, where would it be? THE WIZARDING WORLD OF HARRY POTTER, 100%! (All of you who have seen my main blog know about my love-hate relationship with MCU so that is out of the question, unfortunately.)

Here we go:

1. Where are you from?

I'm a military kid, so I kinda grew up everywhere. I've never left the US, though, which is on my bucket list.

2. Fandoms?

I've been in tons of fandoms over the years, but the main three that I've written for is Marvel, DC, and HP.

3. Tea, coffee, or hot chocolate?

Hot chocolate. I don't have it throughout the year, mainly fall and winter, but I'm not a caffeine person and I've never actually had tea before.

4. What's your occupation?

I took a gap year from school, so I won't be a student until next spring-ish. Right now I currently work as a ride attendant at a very popular amusement park.

5. Fav food?

Uhm... can I pass? I dunno. I love food. I love trying new food, too. I'm not very picky, although I do get in moods for certain food. Pasta and/or burgers is probably my comfort food because that was my dad's favorite growing up so it just reminds me of my childhood.

6. Ambitions/hobbies?

Well, I want to go to school, I'm just undecided at this point. I think it'd be cool to work behind the camera on movies. I've always been interested in photography and movies, so it just seems like an awesome job. Either that or set designing. Also, on a completely different note, being a therapist, just because I deal with a lot of mental things between me, my family, and my friends, but I've never had a good therapist and I think we need more.

As for hobbies? Writing, working, reading, watching stuff, I wanna start working out again once I move into my apartment. I like hiking and car trips, too.

7. Hogwarts House?

As cliche as it is, I'm a Gryffindor. I've gotten it nearly every time I take the tests. The only other House I've gotten is Slytherin.

8. Fav musical artist(s)?

I'm one of those people who likes basically every genre and knows individual songs rather than artists. A few artists I know albums of, though, are Beach Boys, The Beatles, Queen, AC/DC, Halsey, and Harry Styles (who is sorta my guilty pleasure. Not a lot of people who know me would guess that I listen to him.)

9. What do you think is the closest thing to real magic?

Oof. This is such a deep question. Uhm...love probably. I'm awkward and I've never actually been on a date before, but I've had relationships that hurt me. It's just amazing how someone is able to find another person who they don't necessarily get along with all the time, but they make it work because they live each other that much and want to spend the rest of their lives together. It's astounding what love will make people do.

10. If you had to choose a fictional world to live in for the rest of your life, where would it be?

I've been asked this a few times and I always say it depends. Like, if I chose Marvel (not MCU because I would cry) would I get to hang out with the Avengers or the F4 or the XMen? Or would I just be a normal person? Or a villain, that might be fun. Or if I chose HP, would I be a muggle or a wizard? What era would it be in? And for comic universes like Marvel and DC, I wouldn't know which universe to choose because there are so many.

3. avoiding sexualizing elizabeth or the other female pirate characters in the first 3 films by allowing them to wear period-accurate pirate outfits that aren’t tailored to be revealing and impractical for ‘sex appeal’ just because they’re women

6. I run a corseting panel at cons and literally use Elizabeth’s lace-up scene as a video clip of what historical corseting was actually like, because the only thing they got wrong in this scene is that tightlacing wouldn’t be a thing for about another 200 years (and you couldn’t tightlace with the corset style Elizabeth is wearing anyway). It’s one of the most accurate corseting scenes I’ve ever seen.

7. Will’s hat.

8. That scene with all the pirates on the gallows where that little boy starts singing Hoist the Colours? Yeah, that’s fucking legendary. The rest of AWE was kind of a trash fire, but that scene gave me goosebumps.

9. There’s this great shot in the first one where they really drive home the class differences inherent in this time period by having the governor talking about progress and civilization to Elizabeth in their carriage, and then they cut to a shot outside the carriage where a beggar gets splashed by mud from the wheel. It’s a perfect way to underline that everything is not, in fact, a nice little upper-class fairytale, and to give some weight to Will’s storyline, because he has a lot more in common with that beggar than with the governor.

10. For its time, the CGI was fucking amazing.

11. And let’s not forget the work of the makeup department, which had to actually invent new ways of putting on makeup for this movie.

12. The governor’s death scene. Holy shit.

13. They could have gone with a Jack/Will/Elizabeth love triangle, but they didn’t. There are some hints Jack is in love (or at least in lust) with Elizabeth, but he recognizes that she loves Will, and that’s that.

2. They had a woman pirate right in the first film, when the tradition is to only show male ones (hell, the PotC ride at Disney had a wench auction scene until recently). And it was a female pirate of colour at that!

3. Elizabeth may not have known how to fight in the first film, but she wasn’t helpless either. Her first instinct was to fight, but she also had the brains to recognize when it was best to hide instead. Plus when given the chance she stabbed Barbosa that one time.

4. Elizabeth’s lack of fighting ability was not simply because she was a woman, it was clear it was due to her societal circumstances, since we saw other women of different socioeconomic backgrounds being able to fight (and when given the opportunity to learn Elizabeth took to fighting like a duck on water).

5. The Hoist the Colours scene where we see pirates of multiple ethnicities and their varying flags, reminding us that pirates came in all shapes and sizes and weren’t just white men.

6. One of the Pirate Lords being yet ANOTHER woman of colour. She may not have had much of a speaking role if memory serves, but even her presence is already a big deal.

Davy Jones CGI is legendary and a ton better than some of the stuff done today 😄
