Harry’s Glasses

Cisco was in his workshop, long since changed back into his jeans and t shirt after suiting up as vibe earlier in the evening. Although it was nearing 8pm he had a peanut butter and jelly sandwich in front of him. It was the most substantial thing he’d eaten all day and still the four bites he’d taken out of it glared up at him from the plate. He promised himself he’d finish at least half.

Harry wandered into the workshop hoping Cisco hadn’t left for home already. He had an idea of how to stop their latest big bad and he needed Cisco to tell him what was just a little bit off about it.

Without each other they were both separately and thoroughly brilliant. But Harry still made mistakes and oversights at times, loath as he was to admit it. Cisco always knew exactly where Harry had gone wrong

As Harry turned the corner into the workshop he paused in the doorway. Cisco was holding a sparsely bitten sandwich up like he was planning to take a bite but was staring off into space.

“Knock knock,” Harry started and Cisco startled but looked back at Harry with a suggestive eyebrow raised.

“Who’s there?” He asked tongue in cheek and put the sandwich back in his plate.

Harry threw Cisco a look but softened back up right away.

“Wanted to run something by you but it can wait until after you’ve had your …” Harry gestured towards the pb&j “dinner?..”

“I’ll be lucky if I even take another bite.“ Cisco waved off the sandwich and spun to fully face Harry from the rolly chair he occupied.

Harry frowned. “You said you hadn’t eaten all day when you got back from fighting and said you worked up an appetite. You have to eat more than 2 bites of a soggy peanut butter and jelly sandwich.”

“Hey! I took like four bites. Four bites I’m very proud of.” Cisco protested, indignant.

“Why don’t you take at least one more before I distract you with my question?” Harry asked. It had been a long time since he’d had to wrestle with Jesse about finishing what was in her plate but the instinct to make sure someone he cared about was taking care of themself was still strong

“Fine” Cisco picked up the sandwich and took a big bite out of the middle. Strawberry Jelly pressed from the sandwich to adorn his cheek.

Harry smiled sadly and stepped closer. “You’re a mess Ramon,”

With his thumb he pressed his hand to the spot of jelly on the corner of Cisco’s mouth, sliding the strawberry jelly off Cisco’s skin, onto his finger, brushing the edge of his lips where they met his cheek. Cisco blinked hard at Harry as he allowed Harry to touch his face. Muscle memory kicked in and Harry pressed the thumb to his own mouth, sucking the sweet strawberry jam.

Cisco looked at Harry with wide curious eyes, his eyebrows pulling down in the middle at the gesture.

Harry froze realizing he had just licked jelly that had been stuck to Cisco’s mouth. It wasn’t quite like tasting Cisco’s lips but Harry found himself thinking it was probably the closest thing to it that he’d ever get to experience.

“Sorry - I.” Harry was frozen his thumb still hovering at the corner of his own mouth. “That was probably weird.”

Cisco smirked at Harry’s nerves. “Weird? For us? Nah. Just a normal Tuesday.” His eyes were tight as he smiled at Harry and Harry felt heat rise to his cheeks.

Harry turned away from Cisco then. “On second thought my idea can wait for tomorrow. I’ll be back in half an hour though, and the rest of that sandwich better be gone.” He muttered and retreated from the workshop.

As Cisco stared at the doorway where Harry had disappeared he reached up and touched the spot at the corner of his mouth where Harry had pressed his thumb.
