I am wearing Damned Claws by L'Emporio but otherwise it is preferred you wear nails that can show/ hide by finger. For female rigs reBorn and Legacy tested with Demonic Touch and has a bit of minor clipping but otherwise feasible. Default Anatomy long nails works ok, ReBorn not so much, they are too wide.

Something many of you may not know is that there's a good quality video recording tool that doesn't require ugly watermarks shipped with your factory set windows computer: the Xbox Game Bar.

The problem is the troubleshooting process for it is downright ugly and tedious. I had some free time to breathe today so I decided to once and for all iron out all of the bugs that stopped me from recording wips and live previews of my work and keep receipts... mostly so I don't pull my hair out the next time I want to record.

I want to share some of my settings in the hopes that some other lost soul might benefit from them. This is assuming you know for a fact your audio and video drivers are all up to date and don't want to mess up any drastic settings within your machine. This is also assuming you know how to navigate around your computer. 

1/ The record button is greyed out (can't hit record), and/ or Game Bar not recognizing my viewer as a game.

When you turn on the Game Bar click on settings (furthest gear icon to the right) and check the box "Remember this is a game".  This may or may not work, it didn't for me so that's when I tried the next step.

Sometimes when loading the Game Bar it doesn't register that you opened up the viewer even though you are clearly on it. In this case make sure to turn on your game bar UI first then hit "alt+Tab" and cycle through (keep hitting Tab) the windows till you get back to your viewer.

2/  What's up with this buzzing sound and where'd my audio go??

After figuring out how to finally record you could be shocked to find out you worked so hard recording something only to realize the audio is a long static buzzing sound, or no audio is being picked up at all from the viewer.

First I went to Start > Settings > Gaming > Captures and made sure this setting was enabled:

Afterwards I tweaked the mixer settings within the Game Bar, primarily muting the mike and enabling some specific sliders at full audio, in order to record directly from the viewer and avoid microphone static:

It’s important to note if you’re running Discord, it heavily impacts other applications for me when it comes to audio issues, so this is why I highlighted it here. Also, when the mic is off, for me “Host Process..” slider needed to be turned back on.
