the implied story of minecraft is fascinating to me. it’s entirely experiential - you’re a lone person in a ruined world, filled with the debris of civilisations past. abandoned temples, mansions, and shipwrecks litter the land, but with very few people - the only people are in the villages, and they’re different from you, set apart by their staying in one place while you are a traveller. by night, undead monsters that wear your face ravage the darkness, strange destructive creatures stalking you with intent to kill. and all through your travels, you find the ruins of portals to a hellish otherworld, where even more dangers lurk…waiting to be completed, and explored

So if a teenager is at school for roughly 8 hours, and they are doing homework for 6+ hours, and they need AT LEAST 9 HOURS OF SLEEP FOR THEIR DEVELOPING BRAINS, then they may have 0-1 hours for other activities like eating, bathing, exercise, socializing (which is actually incredibly important for emotional, mental, and physical health, as well as the development of skills vital to their future career and having healthy romantic relationships among other things), religious activities, hobbies, extra curriculars, medical care of any kind, chores (also a skill/habit development thing and required by many parents), relaxation, and family time?  Not to mention that your parents may or may not pressure you to get a job, or you might need to get one for economic reasons.

We only had home room in middle school and for us was literally like 5 minutes for attendance & announcements at the beginning of the day, waiting for dismissal at the end of the day, and where your locker was located near. It wasnt actually a class.

In homeroom in my school it is 45 minutes but the teachers assign shit to do during the homeroom period and due by the end of the homeroom period and they are assignments that take up the entire homeroom period so you can’t even do homework during the homeroom period and teachers get mad if you’re doing other shit instead of their work so like-
