Visions was a very, very hard prompt to figure out. Instead of presenting the theme of visions to fortell what is to come, I changed it around to mean "a vision of what could happen". Hakoda's words to Katara are very symbolic and beautiful, showcasing how love is not a compromise of yourself. Rather, it is what you willingly give up to understand the other person. This quote ties together Zuko and Katara's relationship REALLY well (and yes, I KNOW it's not about them). One of the many of the reaaons why Zuko and Katara is such a unique pairing to me is that they both sacrifice parts of themselves to understand each other: vulnerability, their boundaries, and stereotypes. But they never had to compromise for one another.

The whole thing makes Aang's forgiveness of Zuko come across as really insincere, but it's also another example of how Katara is expected to do emotional labor for Aang, to carry the burden of anger for his sake while he gets to present as pure and forgiving.

I got very lazy and recolored the last background while flipping and stretching it to fit. Sue me. Enjoy adult, married, Zutara turtleducks with three little steambabies: Kya, Izumi, and Ursa.

I genuinely feel like I’m crazy for pointing out the inconsistencies in his character when EVERYBODY insists he’s the greatest protagonist in the world.

Seriously, any bad thing said about him is always combated with “oh but he’s a character with flaws” or some other excuse and it lowkey sounds like I’m crazy but hear me out.

I’m starting to think that all the atla fandoms drama comes from Aang stans. I can’t even tag Katara under my posts because there are antis who lurk and harrass people all day. They seriously cannot comprehend the fact that Aang might not be absolutely perfect and his writing was questionable at times. Sometimes I wonder if we watched the same show because wdym he’s a green flag…

I just think it’s really unfair how zutara stans always have to filter and censor what they say to appease other people. There’s no way people have been spewing the same hate from 20 years ago, that’s insane! I know most of his stans are men but it makes me so frustrated when people just completely disregard everything he did because of how the story ended. He doesn’t have a complete character arc and I feel like the nostalgia behind this series makes everyone just believe it was a perfect series with no faults.

Let’s not even get into how Aang stans AND bryke lowkey hate Zuko (they did him so dirty in that movie oml).

I also cannot help but point out how misogynistic they are towards Katara and Korra specifically. It’s so apparent with the new movie too. Everything Aang did was justified and excused by his fans while Korra has been through years of hate for the same things, it genuine makes me sick sometimes. Let’s not even talk about how they completely disregard everything about Katara just because she’s paired with Aang.

One user was commenting how they DON'T like Katara's design in the new movie and I see their point.

As I've said MULTIPLE times, Katara is a fighter. She fought Pakku to prove that she was a fighter that deserved to learn waterbending then she went on to defeat a comet powered Azula.

Katara is one of, if not the, strongest benders in the world.

And Bryke ALWAYS regulates her to the healer.

There is a huge difference between how the original writing team saw Katara and how Bryke sees Katara.

I've been saying recently to people NOT to expect anything good from Avatar Studios. Not the movie, not the new series coming out, nothing.

The actual people who made the original Avatar good have moved on to their own projects and Bryke are not going to bring them back. They see no reason to. People have been telling Bryke for the past 20 years that they made the best animated series ever.

First off, no.

Second, because of that, they think they can do no wrong.

Everything we get from now on is Bryke's view of the characters and a bunch of yes men.

Aang will be the perfect boy. Katara will be his girlfriend and babymaker. Zuko will be the edgy emo bad boy. Toph will have a single catchphrase. Sokka will be the silly backbender.

Zuko and Katara will NEVER interact in any meaningful way ever again.

I see Katara as the greatest waterbender in the world. Katara is a passionate person who loves her people and culture. She IS a fighter.
