do you also get the feeling that you look at some tutorials or explaination and it feels... out of grasp? Like, maybe it's my neurodivergent part, but sometimes there are some of those reels that says "color theory in 15 seconds" and they tell you "pair a color with its complementary" and I mean. The concept is 100% right. And I did 8 years of art school and a bachelor thesis about colors and of course I know this is like- just the tip of the iceberg.

But like- Does a beginner understand that this just means that color A have to be applied to a color that goes TOWARDS color B in the color wheel and not like, the color B itself for this to work or??

Like. Say you have a red and a green. I mean yes you can "pair" them but you see the color of the words I used? They are exactly complementary opposite. But they look like shit because there's too much contrast.

Like- since I did art school, I know that to find a aesthetically pleasing combination of color you need to take into consideration the % of saturation and luminance of a color in correlation to the opposite one you use (or maybe you use a triadic or complementary split palette) and also to the % of color A in the space of the canvas compared to the one of color B but-

But does a beginner know that???

I'm rambling, but yeah sometimes I see a beginner tutorial and think: yeah, this is 100% true, but if a beginner takes what you said by word it wont help them a lot if you don't go a little deeper than simply "just choose the opposite color" or "deconstruct the body in boxes and circles"
