i actually interpret it as both the narrator and the person who’s proposal was rejected as having champagne problems... bc both rejecting a proposal and being turned down are not big deals compared to war, poverty, etc. but would feel huge to that person 

so like for the narrator the last lyric is literally “you won’t remember all my champagne problems” which to mean could mean the mental health issues this person was struggling with or whatever lead them to turn down the proposal 

but the narrator also says when the other person finds the one they won’t be left on the landing with champagne problems which makes me think that persons rejection is also supposed to be the champagne problem

Alright friends there it is!! I finally actually started in the lover journal (and did not chicken out haha been there before) I made a spread about every song on lover, how I see each song visually, how it feels to me, including my favourite lines and some photos of loved ones and friends! I enjoyed doing this so much, I did not start a project in a while that made me feel so excited and calm, all thanks to @taylorswift who had the perfect idea to include blank pages with her album journal 💓
