Diopside is a common kind of pyroxene. It belongs to the monoclinic system. It belongs to silicate minerals and is a silicate of calcium and magnesium.

Mineral characteristics

Diopside is a kind of natural calcium magnesium silicate, diopside appearance is grayish white, after burning is clean white, is a very close to the theoretical composition, harmful impurities and low loss on ignition of high-quality diopside. Common colors are mainly blue-green to yellow-green, brown, yellow, purple, colorless to white, long column, granular or flaky. The luster is glass luster. The transparent and beautiful diopside is also regarded as a gem. If chromium is contained in diopside, the minerals will be green. Therefore, diopside gems are often confused with other gems, such as yellow-green olivine, (green) tourmaline, golden emerald, etc., of course, This must rely on the differences in other physical properties between minerals to distinguish them. Diopside is a common raw material for ceramics. Pyroxene is used in daily porcelain glaze. It combines the advantages of talc and calcite, and can not only improve the gloss, translucency and flatness of the glaze. But also can reduce the firing temperature of enamel and expand the firing range.

Some diopside may also have the phenomenon of cat's eye. Such gems, such as quartz, beryl, chlorite, etc., if they are figured out with an appropriate convex round surface, there will be a linear light gathering place in the center of the round surface, forming a white bright band, so the whole gem looks like a cat's eye, so it is called cat's eye.

Many minerals may have the phenomenon of cats eye. The cause of the cat's eye phenomenon is that these minerals contain many parallel needle-shaped or tubular inclusions. When the bottom of the gemstone with a convex round surface is parallel to the plane where these linear inclusions are located, these inclusions will reflect light and gather in the dome of the gemstone, creating bright bands and forming cat's eyes. If you are lucky, some diopside gems will also have two perpendicular cat's eyes-cross star color. It is said that star color diopside is the birthstone on July 4.

Chinese favorite jadeite also contains some diopside. Jadeite belongs to jadeite in mineralogy. It is a collection of pyroxene minerals. The appearance of diopside brings white and light green. Calcite and neon pyroxene respectively show dark green and black green. The foreign iron oxide precipitation is dotted with red. The combination of these minerals creates the beautiful color of jade.

Diopside, like fluorite, apatite, calcite and other minerals, belongs to fluorescent minerals-they may emit fluorescence, that is to say, if we use high-energy electromagnetic wave light sources such as ultraviolet light and X-ray to irradiate minerals or heat minerals, some trace elements inside the minerals will absorb these light and energy, and then release these energy again. If visible light happens to be released, it will of course be seen by our human eyes, this is the fluorescence phenomenon. For example, white calcite will emit red light after being irradiated by ultraviolet rays. However, not every diopside will definitely fluoresce. If you have a diopside specimen or gem in your home, you may as well take a look at it with ultraviolet rays to see if it will“change face”.

Diopside is widely distributed in basic and ultrabasic rocks, and symbiosis with garnet, idocrase, wollastonite, calcite, etc. in skarn. Natural diopside is mainly hydrothermal and magmatic clusters. It is also a characteristic mineral of silicon-containing carbonate protolith metamorphism and is widely distributed in China. According to purity and symbiotic mineral natural diopside can be divided into six categories. All kinds of natural diopside ore can be found in the ceramic industry.

This is a very general starter post for making your own charged water or using it for spells! It is entirely an Norse based post but you don’t have to be a Norse pagan to use the info! All plants listed are native to Scandinavian countries and some herbs/crystals are tied to the mythology of the Norse. Please keep in mind these are my own personal, modern correspondences because there’s not a lot of surviving pre-Christian text on seiðr and galðr.

🌿Herbs🌿 You can use herbs(or their essential oils) to make your own cleansing water spray, altar offerings, or to charging water with a specific intent. The listed herbs are not meant for ingesting but rather for aromatherapy, varying spells, or making charged water for deity/spirit offerings.

Birch - Birch is sacred in Norse mythology, up to the point where it has it’s own rune Berkanan(ᛒ). It is tied to the hearth deity Frigg, who better to work with when wanting to do ritual cleansing of the home? Birch is associated with healing depression and anxiety, renewal, growth, cleansing, and invoking the divine.

Spruce - The Norway Spruce is one of the most commonly found trees in Norway and Sweden, and still seen as sacred today. Fun fact: Old Tjikko is the oldest (clonal)tree in the world which gives spruce it’s association with ancient wisdom. It is also associated with healing, connecting the mind and heart, protection, purification, and spiritual refreshment. 

Oak - Not only is Oak tied to the protection deity Þórr(Thor) but it was actually the wood used on the highest-ranking viking ships and has long been associated with victory and protection do to this. It’s also good for charging water or oils with prosperity, enhanced manifestation and divination, strength, and mental + emotional healing.

Hazel - .It was commonly used in making arrows(as well as the tree Holly). It’s associated with wisdom, magic, protection(another tree associated with Þórr) and communication.

Calendula - Not to be confused with it’s Mexican sister Marigold(which is not native to Europe). Both physically + metaphysically Calendula can be used to detoxify and cleanse. It can also be used in seiðr for happiness, beauty, good health, physically healing, and releasing depression. It’s also often associated with the Vanir deity Freyja.

Cranberry - A common plant found throughout the lands, is still used in modern times to celebrate Jól. It is often associated with welcoming positive energy into the home, emotional healing, protection(another Þórr one), and invoking courage.

Chamomile - This is another plant associated with the deity Frigg. It can be used to help bring peace and harmony into the home, healing, protection, and purification of negativity.

Primrose - Primrose can be used to help one acknowledge their own feelings and flaws, healing grief and heartache, inspire hope, and transmute negative energies(this last meaning is mostly based on my personal work with Sif).

Thistle - Thistle can be used for increased endurance, prosperity, protection, good health, and improved energy

Orchid - Resilience is the first property that comes to mind with Orchids, I would’ve never thought Orchids could survive so far North but there’s dozens of smaller breeds decorating the hills. Orchids are also a good aid for fertility magic, harmonizing the home, invoking love, and beauty.

Yarrow - It’s believed it was used for protection magic do the the Anglo-Saxon translation to “to be ready” or “to prepare” and being used in talismans at the time. It can also be used for healing, the release of negative emotions, divination, and banishment of negative energy and spirits.

🔮Crystals🔮 Crystals can placed in or around water to help charge it with a specific intent. Make sure you do your research on each crystal, a lot of crystals are water-soluble. Especially ones under a hardness of 6! All listed crystals are local to Scandinavian countries.

Peridot - warmth and well-begin, prosperity, blesses and energizes one work

Amber - often associated with the Brísingamen, it can be used for light, warmth, positive and solar energies, clarification, and healing

Fluorite - clarity and mental enhancement, divination, insight, clearing the energy fields

✨Cleansing Water Recipe✨ This is a cleansing spray I use around my home after cleaning! I usually dedicate the act of making it Sif + Þórr and the act of using it to Frigg or Sigyn. It’s main intention is to cleanse your house of any negative residue or energy left behind and stabilize the energies, welcoming harmony into the hearth. I use home made oils for everything but the spruce(I use a low concentrate essential oil) because I get worried keeping the branches.

Make sure while mixing your ingredients you focus on intention of cleansing the home and addressing whatever god(if you’re working with one). Gather all of your ingredients and pour your moon water in the bowl first. It’s important to note that between adding each oil you need to stir thoroughly(thirty seconds give or take) before adding in the next one. Start mixing your water with one hand and add two drops of spruce oil, mix, add two drops of yarrow, mix, three drops of birch oil, mix, and then three drops of orchid oil, mix. Pour your mix into your spray bottle and tie a piece of fluorite to the outside. I usually try to spray all the windows and doorways in the house as well as our most used rooms. Make sure you shake or stir it for thirty seconds before use each time!

Extra Tips

I would advice not risking putting crystals in with essential oils, they can corrode the crystal(s) and it’s hard knowing exactly what concentration your oil blend is in terms of alcohol + extract.

You can use moon water for your cleansing or charged water if moon cycles are your thing(you could also then say it’s blessed Mani too).

You can leave offerings of water spells or charged water on your altar for Vanir, Sigyn, some jötunn, or whatever deities you want really.

You can use a marker to draw corresponding runes or staves on the outside of your bottle.

You can recharge the cleansing water spell by keeping it out under the new moon or placing it next to a burning white candle and quartz.

Charging water can be done a lot of different ways! You can leave water out under the full or new moon, or even out in the sun for energy. Placing certain crystals(like quartz or fluorite) in or next to water can charge it as well. The same can be said with certain herbs ~

Ingredients

Pen (for writing)

Black thread or electrical tape (banishing)

Photograph of only the person (or any taglock)

Note: Emotionally-driven; 100% want the behavior to stop

Instructions:

Focus on picture all of your hatred, anger.

Name the picture (person’s full name) aloud.

Tell the picture what they have done and why you need it to stop, as if it is the actual person.

Flip over the image, write at the very top their full birth name and date of birth. This links the image to the person.

Write what you want to stop and why it needs to stop.

Feel the anger and hatred about their behavior.

Turn paper/image 90 degrees counterclockwise.

Sign your name 3x (three times) across. Put your energy into your signature.

Fold the image in half with the picture/image inside.

Continue to think and feel the intention (what you want to stop and why it needs to stop).

Turn clockwise.

Roll the paper up.

Take the black thread and loop away from you, make it tight around the image/paper.

Focus on binding the behavior: You are the thread. They are the image.

Chant: Full name. Date of birth. I will bind you. I will bind your actions, full name. (REPEAT)

Knot the end of the thread. Do 9 knots in total. For each knot, state:

I bind you once to stop the negative action against (who).

I bind you twice for (reason).

I bind you thrice (or three times) for (reason).

I bind you four times for (reason).

I bind you five times for (reason)

I bind you six times for (reason)

I bind you seven times for (reason).

I bind you eight times for (reason).

I bind you nine times ro stop the negative action against (who).

Note: can do multiple bindings. Can bury or burn. The thread can loosen around six (6) months.

2. Choose your method: Determine how you want to conduct your spell. It could involve a physical ritual, visualization, meditation, or any other method that resonates with you.

3. Gather materials: Select any materials that you feel represent health and healing to you. This could include candles (white or green are often associated with healing), crystals (such as amethyst or clear quartz), herbs (such as lavender or chamomile), or any other objects you associate with well-being.

4. Create a sacred space: Cleanse and prepare your space to create a focused and positive environment. You can burn incense, use essential oils, or play calming music to set the mood.

5. Cast a circle (optional): If you follow a tradition that involves casting a circle, you may choose to do so to create a sacred and protected space for your spell.

6. Visualisation on and affirmation: Close your eyes and visualize yourself in a state of vibrant health. Imagine energy flowing through your body, revitalizing and healing every cell. Repeat affirmations or mantras related to health and healing, such as "I am healthy and strong in mind, body, and spirit" or "Every day, I grow healthier and more vibrant."

7. Symbolic actions: Use your selected materials in a way that feels meaningful to you. For example, light a white or green candle to symbolize healing and well-being, hold a crystal in your hand while visualizing your body's vitality, or create a healing herbal bath or tea to consume.

8. Gratitude and release: Express gratitude for the health you currently enjoy and for the healing energies that surround you. Release any doubts or negative beliefs about your health. Trust that your body has the innate ability to heal and restore itself.

9. Closing the spell: Conclude your spellwork in a way that aligns with your beliefs. This could involve thanking any deities or spiritual entities you work with, closing the circle if you cast one, or simply expressing gratitude and sealing your intentions.

Remember, creating a spell is a personal practice, and it's important to trust your intuition and adapt these steps to suit your own beliefs and preferences.

There is a lot of books by people who are racist and part of far right side of Heathenry and I’m going to try my best and list the books I have that helped me on my path that isn’t problematic and have questionable intentions. Books and YouTube channels.

Anglo Saxon Socerery and Magic by Alaric Albertson. He is very knowledgeable in his work and path especially on runes which includes the rune poem to make your own interpretation and witchcraft side of things. He even talks about the Elves which I appreciate because not a lot of Norse authors talk about them. It’s more Germanic than Norse but I can’t see any problem adopting certain aspects since they are very similar. I will say he does take himself a bit serious at times but his information is so good and worthwhile. I have not read his first book on Travels through middle earth but it focus on more the pagan side.

Poetic Edda and Prose Edda: it’s what every Norse pagan needs. It’s the foundation of Norse paganism not bibles but myths and tales that can help along our journey. There is tons of translations, but my favorites are Dr. Jackson Crawford Poetic Edda and Anthony Fawkes Prose Edda. But look into other sagas as well like Volsung which Dr Jackson Crawford also wrote about.

Beowulf. More of a Germanic tale but again includes it has roots of Germanic sorcery, traditions, religion like the concept of Wyrd (Fate), the runes, and values within his society like loyalty and mythical creatures. Again there is many translations even Jrr Tolkien did a incompleted version of Beowulf but I think Tom Shippey finished that version I could be wrong. Nonetheless explore more than one, the oneI have is by Seamus Heaney.

Grimm Fairy Tales this mostly German Folklore but it’s still quite important to learn about in German folk magic, creatures and entities in German folklore tends to be very real to the practitioner in their spellwork.

The Way of Fire and Ice by Ryan Smith a very progressive outlook in Norse paganism, he talks about creating communities in Norse paganism and calling out and denouncing Nazis in the community how Norse Paganism is inclusive and how to be open to all types of people. But he has a beginner approach to the deities, beliefs, values within Norse paganism.

Look into a lot of academic sources that’s where you will find a lot of information on Norse paganism and religions.

The Norse Witch: Bente lives in Germany and their channel encompasses all of Norse paganism more around magic. They do interviews with other Norse witches of folk magic like Icelandic and Danish. Even gives good book recommendations and advice on general spellwork as well!

Freyja Norling: Freyja actually lives in Norway and is a Volva, she focus on so many things within Norse paganism like Trolls, the runes, the gods, knot magic, etc. I love her channel because she actually lives in Norway and very experienced in her work.

Dr Jackson Crawford he is an author but he also has a YouTube channel. He is a professor in Georgia on Norse culture, mythology, and language. He did a series of videos on the runes which are more historically accurate. Discusses the myths and the language and what do they mean. Jackson Crawford isn’t a Norse pagan nor he doesn’t care if you are one but just letting you know he isn’t coming from a pagan perspective.

The Welsh Viking also like Jackson Crawford but still has really great knowledge on Viking culture

Scent is just as much a form of self-expression as makeup or clothing. It says something about yourself and how you want the world to see you. It also helps set your intention for the day going forward. In this way, it is an excellent addition to your everyday magical practice.

Signature scents:

You'll see some talk in perfume communities about finding your 'signature scent', a perfume or cologne which you wear on an everyday basis, something that makes you feel more you. Some people swear by it, but I personally let my daily feelings, workings and emotions dictate what will be my signature scent for the day.

Finding a perfume:

One of the first things you do when finding a perfume, of course, is smell it. This will give you an idea of what you're going for, what scents attract you and feel comfortable to you. Are they light, heavy, musky or floral, masculine or feminine? There's a world out there to chose from of unique scents.

In your magical practice it helps to know what goes into a scent. Most perfumes and colognes have a breakdown on their box of what is in them, top notes, medium and base notes. These ingredients can be great for correspondence if you're big into herbal magic, or perhaps if there's a certain herb you work with regularly.

For example, I'm a big fan of the glossier "you" perfume, which is comprised of mainly base notes, including pink peppercorn. The pepper gives it protective qualities, but it's also floral and works with your own scent to create something alluring and perfect for glamour. Great for attraction magic.

Whatever you choose doesn't have to be expensive to be useful in your witchcraft, and it also doesn't have to seem "witchy." A perfectly modern body spray, when used with intention, can find its place in your practice. Hell, I sometimes use lynx body spray as a masculine glamour.

Using it with intention:

Putting on your scent with intention doesn't have to be a complicated process. It can be as simple as knowing that one of your perfumes has rosemary in it and you want a bit of extra protection today, or rose for connection to others, or pine for protection and energy. It's about being thoughtful about the process but also letting your intuition and nose guide you to what you want.

You can also dedicate a particular bottle for a particular purpose or deity: for example, I keep one of my colognes on my altar to Asmodeus so that when I wear it it helps bring me closer to him and keeps his infernal energies around me as a form of protection and glamour. This doesn't apply to just deities, however. If you have an altar for money or beauty, for example, you can add whatever bottle feels right to the display and use it to add to your workings.

Ritual uses:

As well as simple intention, scent can be a great and powerful addition to ritual magic. The energies you surround yourself with are important in a ritual, and the ones that you place on your skin are a powerful signal that can be used to boost your performance in a spell. In the same way incense or scented candles are used in rituals, so too perfumes or even room sprays have their place.

Glamour uses:

Perhaps the most obvious use of perfume that comes to mind when considering it's magical potential is as a glamour, and this is not without good reason. Glamours are chiefly about how others perceive you, and perfumes are a quick but effective way to help a person notice you with certain intentions. The right scent can draw someone to you, make you seem more powerful or interesting, or have a whole range of effects.

My favourite use of glamour magic when it comes to scent is to help make me seem more masculine. As a trans man, I find that wearing colognes is a gender affirming and simple way to help people perceive me more clearly as the gender I identify as.

I'm sure I'm not the only trans practitioner to use this method, but if you're non binary or gender fluid it can be great to experiment with different traditionally gendered scents and mix and match them. Floral and pine, sandalwood and roses, experiment! Find what works for you, and how you want people to perceive you when they're around you. Glamours are so much more than having people find you attractive as they're seen by many, and scent gives you a very real and immediate way to control how people are affected by your presence.
