the moment Daryl’s eyes connected with Merle. It’s like he flinched back INTO the Governor, the man holding him captive and shouting for him to die. He sees the Governor and barely reacts, but then he see’s Merle and tries to step away from him despite what he is stepping into.

To me, this was so significant. Daryl loves Merle and would give his life to save him but Merle is unpredictable and dangerous and has caused Daryl serious pain in his life to have that reaction. Simple shock even, he would have moved TOWARDS Merle if he knew Merle meant safe and family and love. But Merle does not mean safe. Merle means danger and pain and unpredictable risk.

From this moment on…

When Daryl saw Shane snap and force Rick to stop and control his chaos instead of deal with the problem…

I think Daryl thought…

I can do better…

And the only time Rick had to hold Daryl back again…was when he was full of righteous hate for more chaos caused by Shane…

From then on, Daryl was SOLID!

Daryl looks so desperate. Struggling to pull his shirt up to cover his scars, to keep Merle from seeing…it was so painful to watch! Broke my heart! Just look at his face, the way he slightly looks back at Merle, and the humiliation exuding off of him at them being seen!

And Merle just standing there, taking it in, not looking away, horrified to see evidence that him choosing to leave left Daryl for their father to beat. All Daryl wants is for him to look away so he can cover up the evidence that, at one time, he couldn’t fight back hard enough, that he was beaten, a victim, powerless over his own body. Daryl looks as if a hole is burning through to his core and all he wants is for Merle to look away. Norman played this so delicately and complex. I almost wanted to look away for Daryl’s sake and save him some fraction of pride he felt slipping through his fingers. And for something so awful and Merle to never have seen the scars…he carries this with him, and to do something like that, carry that kind of burden completely alone, without a soul knowing the damage it caused, always aware that the proof is hiding just under his tattered clothing, defines a core piece of someone. I can’t get that out of my head! For something so private and painful to be revealed to the one person he never wanted to know, Daryl looks as if his soul was laid bare. Heartbreaking!

Merle looks like he wants to smack his little brother in the head but he just doesn’t quite get there! lol I think he is more unsure about how serious Daryl is than he wants to be! …maybe even a little scared of what Daryl is capable of…dare I say :)

…not only for the incredible sweetness of this scene but that Daryl is just sitting there thinking quietly and actually brought up Merle on his own. He wanted to talk about him, and not in an angry or belligerent way, but just wanted to acknowledge what his brother had done and that it was important. He got his brother back. The brother who protected him no matter what the cost. The brother he loved. He found him in the end. And he needed to say it to someone he could trust. Someone that wouldn’t make fun of him or scoff at him because Merle was a “bad” guy. I love so much that Daryl allows Carol to comfort him and to see him vulnerable!

And Carol just walks over to him for no other reason but to make sure he was ok, to acknowledge his loss and to let him know, with a tiny little smile, that he isn’t alone; he still has his family. And that’s all Daryl needed. :)

is that we have no doubt that he genuinely loves and appreciates every one of us!

even when his twitter feed is so packed with ‘follow me’ requests and the mass amounts of fan love that we all have for him and he can’t see our little tweet or dm…he makes sure that we all know how much he loves us!

he’s always super sweet, he freely gives us hugs, holds our hands, gives us sweet little kisses, responds to dms and tweets when he can, is so incredibly sweet when met by fans completely jet lagged and tired, he stays super late at cons to make sure everyone gets an autograph and after hours upon hours of signing, he still makes each one of us feel beautiful and special and there is not even the slightest hint of irritation or impatience and Norman is just as attentive and sweet to the last fan as he was to the first…

there is no doubt in my mind that we are loved by the most genuinely sweetest man in the universe and that we are the most cherished and beloved fanbase that has ever existed!!
