i want to make an intro to me !! and this blog

⚝ so i've made this studyblr blog to document my own studying journey and hopefully to start motivating me to study and fall in love with the process!!

⚝ i'm 16, scottish, and, as of last friday (19th april 2024), have just finished my penultimate year at secondary school, and am about to sit my exams for my sqa highers!!

⚝ my favourite subject in school is physics and i'm soon going to be applying to university to study astrophysics !!

⚝ i've been obsessed with space since forever, in my old house i even had one of my bedroom walls painted to look like space complete with galaxies and constellations so it's always been my area of interest and i'd love to use this blog to meet people whose interests align with mine or even study astrophysics and want to give me tips (would be much appreciated!!!)

⚝ other than physics, in school next year i will be studying maths and computer science, and this past year i also studied chemistry and spanish

⚝ outside of school, i've been involved in youth theatre since 2017 and acting is a big passion of mine and was my number one career choice up until recently. my biggest interests are music (music means everything to me), and cringe late-2010s stuff like dan and phil, homestuck, steven universe, sanders sides etc etc because i dont know how to move on from the past lmao

⚝ my fav music artists are my chemical romance, pierce the veil, OLD!!!! p!atd, hozier, tally hall, and just to continue the nostalgia theme, i also love the oh hellos, dodie, aurora and set it off and so many other artists PLEASE talk to me about music

ok i think i've waffled enough and gotten off topic lol pls be my friend if you have any of the same interests as me though, especially academically!! <3<3

1. stayed up super late catching up on missed astrophysics lectures (about 8-10 hours worth)

2. sat an astrophysics test

3. went to my physics lab on uncertainties and error propagation

4. went to the gym for ~1.5 hours, hit arms and cardio and a little bit of legs while waiting for the bench press to be free

i still cant lift the bar on the bench press yet 🥲 but i did a similar thing with two 5kg weights to hopefully work up to the 20kg bar eventually

plan for tomorrow: attempt physics questions before my tutorial, catch up on sleep, go to the gym again, if time allows i should also start on next week's tutorial questions for maths astro and physics and maybe watch more of my catchup lectures

left my chemistry revision way too late and now its 9 hours until my preliminary exam and ive done almost no studying 😰

also update i got rejected from cambridge :(( well technically waitlisted in a way.. i might make a separate post explaining that at some point

i keep forgetting to post here because i have been in a slump recently but i am ready to get back on the grind now (hopefully).

academic updates from the past couple months !!

⚝ I got all A's on my exams !! (idk if i mentioned that already)

⚝ I applied to uni in early october. made my application to cambridge (MSci natural sciences), st andrews (MPhys astrophysics), manchester (MPhys physics with astrophysics), glasgow (MSci physics with astrophysics) and edinburgh (MPhys astrophysics)

⚝ I got unconditional offers to edinburgh and glasgow !! (unconditional means i could fail all my exams this year and still get a guaranteed place in the course, a conditional offer would be that my place is only given if i get certain exam results) and also a conditional offer to manchester (AAA in my exams including As in maths and physics)

⚝ and the super scary one, i got interviews to both manchester and cambridge 😰😰

i did my manchester interview last week and my first cambridge interview is TOMORROW and i also have one on friday

im gonna try to be more active on here because i REALLY want to get into cambridge lol. academic comeback starts TODAY !!!!

okii thats all the updates so far, still waiting to hear back from st andrews, but they probably wont respond until april/may. hoping to get an unconditional !!

1. oh my god its so soon i have to lock in NOW or else im gonna do so bad

2. i have no chance of getting in this is the end im gonna throw up

3. whatever i dont even care anyway. i should be proud i even got to the interview stage, if i don't get in its not the end of the world

4. oh my god its in three days WHY HAVENT I LOCKED IN YET this is the end of the world

like ive struggled with completing homework but it hasnt been a big deal until now because this is a really important and challenging year academically and i havent done a single piece of homework since school has gone back sooooo im struggling

lost all motivation yk how it is.

ANYWAY life updates academic wise

1. i got all As in my exams !!!!

2. i have just applied for the cambridge ESAT for their Natural Sciences course and ohhhh my god did it cost a LOT of money

gonna try be more active on here so i can get the motivation to study for possibly my most important exam to date :P wish me luck bc im sitting it next month

life update: i just sat the first part, reading and writing, of my spanish exam and i'm sitting the second (and last) part, listening, in around 25 minutes. i've been super stressed about this exam but reading and writing went pretty well and im just hoping listening goes well too!!

i have my maths exam on this coming monday which i've barely revised for so i need to lock in when i get home today lmao !! i'll try and be more active now i just fell into a complete depressive slump but we're so back (it was sunny today. seasonal depression??? whos she????)

hope everyone is doing well!!

thought it would help motivate me to study if i had a sort of countdown and study time table for my upcoming exams!! i will try to do this every week until my exams are done

study plan for this week:

today: memorise all flash cards & complete a past paper for physics

tomorrow: physics exam !! after, go over maths notes & catch up on what i've missed when i was off school

friday: go over spanish notes & check how to structure directed writing

saturday: do some practice questions for maths & a listening paper for spanish
