The pokemon scientist was busy trying to clear the cluttered papers from her desk. Most were just her own personal notes, deciding the least she could do is keep records on what wounded pokemon came to her office. Only a few pokemon so far had shown, which was always a good sign.

No news was always good news, or that’s what she heard. Leonidas, her Litleo, rested in her desk chair as the woman busied herself with the flower box she’d begun setting up on a shelf. Just as she thought the day would go by quietly, she heard a knock on her door. 

“Yeah- she worked outta our home for sooo many years.. She’s real good at it- before that she used to work in the flower shop near Rustboro. I like to go there every now an’ then when I.. ah, get the money for it.” He nearly slipped up and told her he goes when he gets missions over that way. He was cutting things a bit close for comfort. 

His expression falls a bit as he sees the way she talks about her brother. “I’m.. real sorry to hear that.” He pauses a moment, trying to figure out how he should word what he wants to say without being insensitive about it. “I’m.. real sure he’d be proud of ya right now though. You’re doin’ so much for him I bet.”

He grins. “No worries! I’ll definitely keep it in mind next time I do some cave explorin’.”

Lilias smiled, “Flower shops...she must’ve been living the dream then. I miss working with all those flowers, I’ve been considering opening my own. For now though, it’s just one of those dreams. I bet your home always smelled so sweet like her perfumes.”

It felt like it was forever before she answered, even though she had answered rather quickly. She was expecting him after all. “Hey, Lili, don’t worry ‘bout it okay? I was still up anyways an’ I wanted to make sure you’re doin’ alright.” He paused briefly before speaking again, trying to think of what to say. He wasn’t really used to making phone calls very often. “Did ya make somethin’ warm for yourself?”

“Yeah, I’m gonna try some chamomile tea first. It usually calms me down” Lilias replied, her face scrunching in concern.

“Well yeah- ya pulled me off an’ treated me to one o’ the best meals I’ve had in a while and ya didn’t even know me! If that ain’t nice, I dunno what is.” He grinned a bit, rubbing his hair. “Hey, don’t worry ‘bout it, I mean you were jus’ doin’ your job. I wasn’t s’posed to be there.. An’ I mean if I ran into anyone else they woulda done the same so..”

He lights up. “We did-! I hadn’t really been that open ‘bout myself in a while. I’m real thankful for that.” He blinked a bit. “W.. well, I ain’t surprised ‘bout that, You’re not the only one from Aqua that’s chased me down. I think I’ve only gotten so fast is cuz I’m good at runnin’ away-” He gives a chuckle.

He gives a shrug. “Who knows? I just know not to interrupt him at certain times or well.. I feel like my job gets on the line y’know?” He straightens out a bit. “Like touchin’ is not an option, do not touch the boss cuz the one time I did, the next thing I knew i was on the ground an’ I was bleedin’. That wasn’t pleasant..” He shudders a bit. “An’ then there’s the rumors where he throws bad grunts into the volcano.. He’s real scary..”

He smiles lightly again though. “Same, that’s how my mom raised me, but I get labelled a softie a lot cuz of it. Like I don’t belong in a place like Magma. An’.. I guess they’re right. I don’t really wanna be a criminal. I’m jus’ doin’ what I gotta to take care of my family.”

The lime haired grunt gave a soft smile, “I guess it goes to show that just a little bit of kindness to someone... can really go a long way after all, huh? After all, where would we be without it?” 

“Isn’t that a bit harsh? But, well... I guess it seems harsh to me ‘cause when we do it to the boss he normally takes it as a challenge. I’ve seen grunts get into these small wrestling matches with him, all for the sake of fun.” Lilias seemed to laugh a little at her next thought, “I used to consider Magma, but hearing that about Maxie makes me glad I didn’t.”

who is most likely to steal their trainer’s food? - This would have to be a tie between Wulfgang and Nibles, both little monsters use their cuteness to fool Lili.

who is most likely to rebel or ignore orders during a battle?  - If she ever used her in battle, it would definitely be Minami. That Furfrou would only ever respond to Ciaran’s commands and is still hesitant of Lili but their relationship is getting better each day.

who is the least welcoming of new pokemon/people? - Selene, she’s very protective of Lilias and as such is very hesitant to accept new members of the team. who is the laziest? - Sobek, he likes to sleep in while Lilias attends her early morning guard duty who wakes up the earliest? - Vincent, he’s the one who sticks by Lili during guard duty so he always wakes up early to pull Lilias out of bed. who stays up the latest, or doesn’t sleep at all? - Selene, she likes to watch over the other members...just to make sure everyone’s safe. She can’t sleep unless she’s sure it’s safe.

who is the messiest? - Wulfgang, but the pup cant help it, he’s still pretty young after all. who is the loudest?  -  Vincent, he’s very vocal and it’s mostly him trying to show affection. who considers themself the ‘leader’? - Sobek, after all he’s been with Lili since the beginning, he thinks it’s only natural he be the leader.

who is the weirdest? - Without a doubt, Siren, she just up and leaves all the time and sometimes won’t come back for days. She avoids the other pokemon and sometimes even Lilias. who is the biggest cuddler? - Copper! She’s practically a ball of fluff anyways and she loves cuddling. who gets themselves into trouble the most often? - Vincent and Wulfgang, both of them are super energetic and often times cause more trouble than they should be able to. who hates bath time? - Selene, she hates having her fur be wet, Lilias normally has to fight with Selene just to give her one and afterwords she won’t go near Lilias for several hours. who gets the most visibly excited from seeing their trainer after a long absence?- Copper. Copper basically looks up to Lilias in so many ways, so being apart always makes her sad. Copper wouldn’t be leaving Lilias’ side for the rest of the day. who is most protective of their trainer? - Sobek and Selene. Ever sine Sobek defended Lilias the two have had a strong bond, Sobek would probably bite off a hand if anyone tried hurting Lili. Selene’s basically the same way, most of the time she won’t let anyone too close to Lili unless she’s absolutely sure they won’t hurt her. who uses their charms/cuteness to try and get away with things? - Honestly, Selene, cause even she causes trouble, so she always finds a way to turn her cuteness around against Lilias who messes with other trainers for fun? - Sobek, he’s pretty mischievous but he never takes it too far. who is the most submissive to their teammates? - At the moment, it would have to be Wulfgang, he’s still trying to learn about his new teammates, he’s still trying to fit in. who is the purest angel? - Copper, she’s just an innocent fluff ball who wants love. who gets jealous the most? -  That would be a tie between Sobek and Selene, the two are always in contest with one another, so when Lili pays more attention to the other, sparks can fly. who is the one laying on their trainer’s face in the morning - Copper. who is the most distant from their trainer? -  Siren and Minami, they care for Lilias sure, but they still have a hard time moving on from Ciaran. who is closest to their trainer? -  Well, most of Lilias’ team is extremely close to her, but the closest would have to be Sobek, they’ve been through a lot together. who is most alike their trainer in personality or habits? - Sobek, he mirrors so many of Lilias’ traits and the two are in almost perfect sync sometimes. who races ahead when on a walk? - Vincent, when he goes for walks he cherishes it, his walk is his favorite part of the day, so sometimes he just can’t help himself from running ahead. who is the most loyal/obedient? - Vincent, while Sobek is extremely loyal, Vincent listens to everything and will always be loyal to her no matter what. who eats the most? -  Sobek who is the quietest? -  Copper, sometimes it’s hard to know she’s even in the room. who is the clumsiest? -  Vincent is almost always knocking something over throughout the day, he doesn’t mean to...it just happens. who is the most hotheaded? - Sobek, his temper definitely reflects Lilias’ at time, but Sobek seems to have an even shorter fuse. who is the ‘mom pokemon’? - Siren, while often gone, she still cares deeply for her fellow pokemon, she’s always making sure they’re not getting to trouble but when they do, she always seems so disappointed. She has a way with guilt tripping the others when they do bad things.

//Sorry I haven’t been active on either of my blogs lately, I’ve gotten pretty bogged down with classwork recently alongside my mom being pretty sick and it’s just...a tad out of control atm and I’ve lost my muses for all my characters. So, as much as I hate to, I’ll be putting my blogs on a Semi-Hiatus. 

“You do? That’s cool- my mom’s a perfumer, so I got real familiar with all sorts of scents. I still tend to name my pokemon after ‘em.” He’s practically beaming; it certainly wasn’t often that he found someone that actually burned sandalwood incense. It made him feel a bit giddy. He’d nearly forgotten her allegiance to Aqua at this point.

“Oh really? Sounds like you an’ your bro were real close. I’m glad you got a pokemon to help ya through tough times-” He nodded along as she told about her brother. “Yeah.. I know how ya feel.” She seemed a bit down after speaking, so he thought it might be better to focus on another subject.

He was in thought for a moment as he tried to picture what she was describing. “Wow, that sounds amazing- That should be enough for me to find somethin’ that looks similar if I happen to see it. There ain’t many rocks that’re pink-”

“Oh, she’s a perfumer? That’s amazing.” she smiled, “I used to work for a Florists in high school, it always smelled so wonderful. I guess that’s how I got into incense, I liked to keep ones that were meant to keep you calm. It really helped us.” 

She nodded, “Yeah, my brother raised me from a small kid, he...well, he saved us from a bad situation, let’s just say that. He tried to do everything for us, he meant a lot to me but, now he’s gone...”

Whatever it was that was bothering her, he hoped he could help with it. He wasn’t sure if he’d know the right things to say to cheer her up, or if he could give good advice. But he should at least try. He couldn’t stand the thought of her being upset. He dialed her number on the nav before bringing the device to his ear and listening to the rings.

She tried her best to occupy her time, to keep negative thoughts at bay. Carefully, she began to make herself a cup of chamomile tea. Glancing at her phone she waited. Only when the cheerful bells rang from her nav, did the grunt jump across the break room. As much as she’d expected it, it’d still managed to scare her. Crossing the room, Lilias gently lifted the pokenav to her ear as she accepted the call.

“Th.. that’s what I figured, but.. you were jus’ so nice I couldn’t help talkin’ away with ya anyways even though I knew.” He gave a bit of a nervous chuckle. “I ah.. I realized that when ya tried to throw me outta your base that one time. That was the fastest I think I’ve ran in a while. But it was nice gettin’ to know the other side of ya.”

He shakes his head. “It’s alright, I mean some of my uh.. coworkers can be unnecessarily mean and cruel, even to other Magmas let alone to Aquas. So honestly it’s probably better to be cautious than not.” He nods. “I get that for your boss but.. I think our boss is mostly concerned about information leaks. Which I get, that’s important too.” He sighs. “He’s so scary.. it’s hard to know if he really cares ‘bout his grunts or not.”

He laughs a bit nervously. He was lucky she was so open minded and accepting because otherwise he felt like he may have biffed this conversation a long time ago. “Y-yeah, that’s how I see it anyways.” He was still embarrassed by himself though. Seriously, why did he bring up underwear at all? He nods. “That makes sense.” Though, he wasn’t sure at all if he was happy with who he was now. There were a lot of things he wished he could go back and change. 

“Gosh Lili, you’re so nice to me, it’s hard to get used to. N-not that I’m complainin’ of course, it.. makes me happy.”

“Ah...am I really that nice? I’ve...never really had anyone tell me I was nice before. Most people tell me I’m this huge hothead that no one could ever stand to be around but, well, hearing that from you is...nice.” Lilias gave a smile before she tilted her head in confusion, “Threw you out of the base? ...Oh I did try that before didn’t I?” Lilias gave a look of sympathy, “Man, I’m sorry about that, I guess maybe I was a little harsh then wasn’t I? But yes, I must agree that getting to know each other without knowing who we truly were was...really nice. I feel like we kinda bonded, y’know?”

“Yeah, I know I’ve heard a lot of discourse in the break room where lots of the grunts will talk down about Magma or boast about how they’d beaten up a Magma grunt on a mission.” The grunt stared at Adrian before her eyebrows scrunched in confusion, “Well, sure, I guess information is pretty important to Maxie but, c’mon he has to care about you guys at least a little right? After all, without you guys he couldn’t have made it as far as he has.”

“Aha.. maybe I guess. I dunno it’s.. kinda hard for me to just get new friends.” In more ways than one actually. “Maybe one day they’ll kinda see how rude they were actually being..”

He nods. “Yup- Sandy’s my probopass! Actually, a lotta people assume I named him that cuz he used to know sandstorm but actually Sandy’s short for Sandalwood. It’s a long story how he got that name.” He nods again. “We met when I was real young. I got a feelin’ me an’ Sandy are gonna be buds for life. So it’d be nice if I could make him as happy as he makes me, y’know?”

He sighs wistfully. “Yeah, I understand what ya mean.. Though I was actually born in Johto, I grew up more in Sinnoh so that’s where I feel most at home. It feels strange to go there now.” He pauses a moment. “I wonder what woulda happened if I’d gone on my pokemon journey all that time ago with Sandy with me. We coulda gone all sorts of places too. But yeah, like you said.. life happens. I love all my sisters so I don’t regret havin’ to help take care of ‘em. It was somethin’ I felt like I had to do.”

His eyes light up. “Yeah- that works. Color, shape, stuff like that, anythin’ helps!”

“Well, yeah I guess that’s true, it is kinda hard to find friends I guess. How well do I know that?” She gave a soft laugh.

“Sandalwood, huh? That’s a nice fragrance, I burn incense with that scent all the time. It’s really calming, one of my favorite scents actually.” the grunt shook her head once she realized she was rambling, “But I think Sandy is a perfect name.” 

She gave a nod, “I understand how you feel, my Croconaw was a gift from my brother and we’ve been together since I was little. Sobek means the world to me. He’s all I’ve got left to remember my brother by...and Sobek protected me in hard times. I want to make him as happy as I possibly can.”

“I would’ve wanted to travel and do so much but...as my brother got sick I had to help him. I don’t regret what I’ve done, I would’ve done the same things all again. Even if I wish I could travel the world, I wouldn’t trade it for spending time with my family.” Yet, Lilias couldn’t hide the intense feeling of remorse that washed over her. She always acted like family came first and yet..she could never face what family lived in the large cities of Kalos.
