It was only recently that I actually walked into Diptyque’s New York flagship interior on Bleecker St when I was greeted with THIS. Interior design by Christopher Jenner, complete with bespoke wallpapers and fabric designs, and a mirror diorama. I’m reminded of eighteenth century porcelain cabinets in royal palaces although I bet that the brand’s contemporaneous clientele is similarly oriented…

Traveling by train makes up in romance what it sometimes lacks in style. Imagine how many Before Sunrise-style love affairs would be forged in the Channel Tunnel if the high-speed Eurostar train that travels between London and Paris in 2 hours 15 minutes were remade according to British designer Christopher Jenner’s vision. Jenner, explaining the impetus for his bright and sexy proposed redesign, writes that “the Eurostar needs an urgent makeover” because it is ”travelling from the capital of cool to the capital of fashion.”  We hope the rail world powers that be are listening. Riding the rails in this kind of style would be worth the bump in a first-class fare.
