"Materializing Spirits" by Christina Wald

This amazing piece, “Materializing Spirits” by Christina Wald @cswyellokat will be featured in our upcoming TOGETHER exhibition. The show celebrates the meaningful moments, scenes, and experiences by some of the artists from the Norway and Iceland Program.

Christina Wald is an illustrator, designer, and obsessed traveler. She mostly illustrates children’s books but recently started a publishing company and podcast about local paranormal activity. Her first comic anthology through Corpse Flower Press, Cincinnati Cabinet of Curiosities, was just successfully Kickstarted. Her latest book, A Wish for Pangolin, is out now from San Diego Zoo Global who is publishing a line of animal conservation books. She is currently working on one about a sloth out in Fall 2021. You can listen to her weekly podcast, Hometown Haunts, every Wednesday at Midnight on YouTube.

The Together Exhibition is displayed alongside Quiet Places and Daydreams – all three beautiful shows with originals and handcrafted pieces about nostalgia, feelings, and interactions with space. The shows are available for viewing starting December 4th, and you can safely see them online as well!

Here is a piece I did for our upcoming Neil Gaiman Tribute show to celebrate Know Theatre's production of Neverwhere.

This is a favorite scene of mine from Good Omens where Crowley and Aziraphale meet at St. James Park where spies from all over conspire and overfeed the ducks.

An Inktober piece called “Torn Apart”. I used to have dreams about faceless cloth dolls. I did a painting of one in college but I am not sure what happened to it. I am also excited for the new Lore TV series on Amazon.

Oddly, I forgot to post my Smaugust pieces!

My mother-in-law has been talking about the eclipse for YEARS!! Their home in Eddyville, KY was in the TOTALITY zone. She had ample pairs of glasses and it was the COOLEST THING EVER!!!

I also did a couple sketches. I love the Chinese concept that an eclipse is the sun being eaten by a Celestial Dragon.

The other is a city breaking the veil into fae.

Things are looking up for 2017!

Farewell Carrie Fisher! So much talent beyond acting and Star Wars... Also a great writer and voice in the world.

We luckily had second row seats to her one woman show Wishful Drinking in Dayton several years ago. It was wonderful!

This has been my busiest year ever as an illustrator and that is saying something because I was not sure that was possible. I feel so happy and lucky to do what I love to do all the time. I have had so many great projects and books to work on this year and have some amazing stuff lined up in 2017. It has been a difficult year in so many other ways; I am grateful to find solace in my work and wonderful clients and friends.
