Halt! Papiere Bitte. Terrorist search during the gulf war January - February 1991. I am 19 years old in the federal German police in this photo. I had a few strange experiences during that 6 week mission, including a fake bomb on a trainstation platform, which I decided to open and check myself. I got reprimanded for that by my superiors and the bomb squad, which came for nothing. It was obviously a badly done fake, otherwise I wouldn’t have touched that thing. We also had a nice midnight dinner of confiscated meat and alcohol, including champagne, with the Swiss border guards. They invited us, during a boring night shift. Boy, have I been drunk, when my work finished at 6:00 am. Unfortunately, our Lieutenant came to pick us up, instead of the usual driver. He had a van full of totally drunk cadets, but decided to not say anything and never talked about it after. He was a good leader ;-) Needless to say, that we didn’t catch any terrorists.
