Google is a huge disruption to the industry of education. Today it is the biggest search engine around the world and bring us to the sites we want to visit, such as the places we look to connect with people around the world like social media, shopping websites, gaming sites and the point of topic educational websites. For students young and old Google has been the place where if you have a question a answer can be found. Some answers might me right and some might but tweak a little bit because sites like wikipedia are filled with information from multiple amounts of opinions from different people all around the world. People use Google as the main source to access information instead of going to the library or even just asking questions from teachers and pairs because this application is in every device we have now today. Devices like computers, cellular phone, Ipads/Ipods, and yes even our gaming systems. We sometimes completely miss out on the idea of researching with books and talking to librarians in our own school and I am guilty of such actions as well. It wasn’t until college that I started using resources outside of the computer to get help like going to my school writing center and or just accessing books physically from the library. Students as well as the everyday individual should learn that without these kind of skill sets Google and the computers we use today will take over our lives because as we access information from these computer they access information from us. The average person might not even know this but it is happening. Instead of asking Google questions we need to ask ourselves some and the people around us to help more innovations to come forth, if you think about it all the inventions that come out in our lives like the new phones they come with every year only comes out because these companies get information from us and Google, to give the new best product that we want and more. This idea that information is taken from what we search or what we do not search is weird and I still have not come to terms with it. For the past few years this has been the topic of discussion and I do not completely know what side I am on. I do know that I do not feel comfortable knowing that they are using my information like that but will I stop using Google? No. Will a lot of other people stop using Google? No. Why? Well because they offer some much more than many other search engines, but would I change search engines if something new came out and was better? Yes, I would but how long would that search engine take to get off the ground? Would it really be able to compete with the one we have now? Google has taken over and it would be a surprise to see it fall.

The idea of having a “guardian” is weird for me because it go goes back to the world debate of having net neutrality and being able to have the right to be forgotten. Having the government control the lives of all people is already a problem that in reality probably will not change. Giving one person or multiple people the power to have control to say what is right and what is wrong won’t be beneficial or fair to all the users. The guardians of the web should not be people who want to control us as users nor should it be just the people who want to benefit from it financially, the guardians of the web should first start with the people. Everyones opinion should matter and every voice should be heard, and the only thing that there should be is people to put each act in place after each person has had a say. So just like the world has a voting system for presidents and for people to run the country and the laws that we have to abide by I feel if the government wants to stay “in control” but have a better connection with the user they should implement a voting system that will give every user a chance.  Again who knows if this will even work, this is just an idea that could be tested and if it still does not feel user friendly then more ideas should be heard. And I don’t mean to keep coming at the government because there are a lot of companies search as our Internet Service Providers, search engines like Google, and social medias like Facebook that perform the same actions. I feel the battle between user and program will continue to go on if the user does not have a voice and these companies continue to abuse the power of money. I say money because it has been the one thing that always seem to come up in each debate about the internet being completely free to the user. “With the internet being free it would not give companies incentive to want to provide better service for the users”, one of the things I remember a few of my classmates saying and this actually might be true and just sucks to see how Sir Tim Berners-Lee idea of the internet has come to be in 2016.
