Tea Patterns and Lettering
Here’s some of my own lettering work. It naturally gravitates towards a more illustrative approach. I generally surround the text with related imagery or enclose illustration within the lettering. For this project I decided to explore some ideas where the lettering was secondary to the overall illustration. You can see more of the detail and concept behind the designs over on my portfolio site: Jamie Clarke Type.
TypographHer featured these designs in the excellent blog article titled, “Craftsmanship that would make William Morris proud.”
Last December, I had this opportunity to help out this wonderful boutique motion studio with their explainer video! I really enjoyed being able to create a different style for each part of the script :) Thanks TwoFresh Creative!

The Art of Krzysztof Skórczewski
Krzysztof Skórczewski was born in Kraków in 1947. In the years 1965–1971 studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow under the tutelage of Professors Adam Marczyński, Mieczysław Wejman, Włodzimierz Kunz and Franciszek Bunsch.
When he first graduated from the Printmaking Department in 1971, he was interested in linocut and graphic design. But, in 1976, while studying at the Royal University College of Fine Arts in Stockholm, he became interested in copperplate engraving. Since then, he has created over 210 copperplate engravings, some of them in series, “The Tower of Babel”, “Building the Ark”, “Dolls”, and “Gardens”, as examples.
Together with his wife, Krzysztof Skórczewski runs a graphic workshop in Kraków from which all of his copperplate engravings originate, and since the mid-1990s he has also created series of works using pastels, and watercolors.
Many of you remember Sara from the Pediatric Cancer series last month. I’m very sorry to report that shortly after her story was published, Sara’s cancer returned very aggressively. Yesterday morning she passed away. I’d like to honor her by reposting her story, and allowing Sara to be remembered by her own words:
“My biggest worry is that I’m going to die and not do all the things I wanted to do. The funny thing is—I didn’t even realize how many things I wanted to do until I got diagnosed. Simple things like meeting a guy, getting married, getting a job, having my own apartment, and even picking out my own furniture. Those never seemed too interesting to me. They just seemed like adult things that were guaranteed to happen. Now I want to do them so bad. Because I want to know what they feel like.”
—————————————————— Our fundraiser for Pediatric Cancer research at Memorial Sloan Kettering is still active. If you’d like to make a donation in honor of Sara, you may do so here: http://bit.ly/1NZZMFc

This is a piece I have done for an editorial brief at University, where we had to choose a magazine article with its illustration removed and then produce an illustration to replace the previous one without seeing the previous artwork. The article I chose was based on home brewing your own wine and beer. I played around with a few ideas and decided to run with the idea of a parody label for a bottle of homebrew based on Scrumpy Jack. This piece still needs more work but due to time constraints this will have to suffice for now I am still pleased with the main bulk of this piece and hope to return to it in the future. I hope you enjoy this illustration.
Know Your Game. by Aymeric Bernard.
Check out the information about these sceneries.
This is the Base Portrait used for the stamps I previously posted.
These are four stamps I designed for my subsidiary module Ideas Through Design we were given a brief to form an independent state or country and then design four stamps that the country could use. I chose to form the State of Hyrule which is a city in Nintendos illustrious franchise Zelda. I have based them around the tunics you use throughout the game of Ocarina of Time, each of them having special abilities and also basing one around Dark Link.
They were rushed in the end but I hope you enjoy them none the less.
Thanks Chris.

This is a portrait of Bill Bailey I am working on for a project at university, which is going to be a book of props to accompany his 2004 stand up Part Troll. This image is going to eventually be part of the front cover but it still needs alot of work but its getting there slowly but surely. Hope you like my half finished Bill.
this is a double page spread from a book I am working on for a self directed brief at university. The book is based around the comedy of Bill Bailey whose colourful use of language and incredibly visual jokes have influenced me personally in my sense of humour. The book is going to be a 32 page book of props to accompany his 2004 standup (Bill Bailey: Part Troll). This Particular spread is Based on his Argos joke.
'Dont You love Argos, with the laminated book of dreams.'
'you know why it laminated don't you? to catch the tears of joy!'
(Right side):
'little grey door gives no hint of what lays beyond, The Narnia of household goods. Tardis of toasters.'
