But There's Still Me

(like for a starter)

She arched an eyebrow slightly at the other when it did not seem the other wanted to answer her. “What do you want?” She asked and tilted her head slightly in question. “I’m glad we are.”

Anna quickly turned the question back onto Claire. "What do you want?" Anna didn't know if she actually didn't care or if she just didn't want to answer the question.

“ See how I have my stripy pajama pants on? That means I’m NOT doing anything for anybody else for the rest of the night. People skills turned off. Nada. Zero. “

“ DON’T do the ‘puppy eyes’ with me, young lady- “ The words are followed with a look of intense disgust. “ That’s a phrase I have never, ever used before and never intend to use again.       Anyway, yes, it’s Supernatural Saturday, you idiot,       of course I’m stealing the remote. Coming? “

Anna giggled and got up. “Of course.” She covered her mouth as she continued to giggled. She uncovered her mouth to say, “Young lady? Really, Max? We’re basically the same age.” She smiled at her and said, “I’m going to go get a snack, then I’ll go to the living room.”

Unsure she returned the other’s smile while she listened to the other’s words. Raising her eyebrows slightly, she bit her lip not sure what exactly Anna was suggesting. “Anna? What exactly do you mean?” She bit her lip again and looked down. “I’m not sure if I like that idea……. I mean, I’m not sure if it’s a good idea? What if it ruins everything?” She hesitated slightly. “I mean, we’re friends?”

She smiled at Claire and said, "We're best friends, but nothing could ruin that."

Unsure Claire stayed in place when the other moved closer again, but sent her a slightly wary look. Smiling softly, she nodded slowly at the other’s words although not really sure what the other meant by that. “I guess we are……?”

Anna smiled at Claire. "I mean you said that kissing me was nice which means you liked it and I liked kissing you and that's a start. We don't have the emotion thing figured out but-" Anna giggled. "I'm really bad at this. We both like to kiss each other so we can keep doing that or not and like there doesn't have to be any strings attached."

“Wha–?” Claire looked up at the other and bit her lip slightly before looking down at the other again. “Oh…… Thanks……” She mumbled shyly not daring to look up as her cheeks still felt hot. “You’re nice to kiss too.”

Anna was uncomfortable and Claire was also obviously uncomfortable, but Anna pushed the feeling aside and scooted closer to Claire. She touched her arm and said, "Well it sort of sounds like we're on the same page."

“Oh……” She bit her lip slightly when the other pulled before looking down at her fiddling hands.  “Uhh…… It’s okay…… I guess we’re even now…..” She mumbled unable to look up as she felt her cheeks burn. 

Anna looked up at Claire and quietly said, "That's not why I did it." She looked back down and shrugged. She tried to joke. "You're not a terrible kisser." It just made Anna blush. That was an incredibly stupid thing to say.

“Really?” She could not help but smile, glad by the thought that they could just go back and pretend that nothing happened. Maybe they could not, she realized as she suddenly found the other’s lips pressed against her own. It was nice.

Still smiling, Claire found herself leaning closer before resting her forehead against the other’s. “I’m sorry….. I really didn’t meant to –––––– mess things up…..” She breathed out before biting down her lip as she found herself focusing on the other’s lips for a bit too long.

"You didn't..." Claire was way too close, but she didn't seem to care. Anna cared very much though. She was pretty sure anyways. It was kind of hard to think with Claire too close and staring at her lips. Anna kissed Claire which was a really stupid idea.

“I just woke up actually.” He admitted. He’d managed to wake himself up, before the nightmare woke him up. “You’re one to talk. What are you doing up?” He returned the question.

"Oh." She nodded. She'd had nights were she had woken up in the middle of the night too. She probably should've expected him to turn the question on to her. She looked away from him and said, "I just couldn't get myself to go to sleep." She shrugged casually. She looked back to him and smiled. "You want to go to that 24 hour diner we saw on our way into town?"
