One bc I’m still young and lazy and I don’t have any money..if that’s what’s even in commissions?..and two I probably would never do it until I’m older.

for example the moon will sing: i had Mayor Jones and Fred Jones in mind when putting that on and THAT song is about unrequited love and emotional neglect and the loss of personal identity (“I shine with only the light you gave me”/“I could have been anyone”)

do you see where im getting at…? if you look at the full song lyrics you can kinda understahd it more I’ll send a longer ask explaining it later. idk personally their relationship stuck out to me because of how morally gray mayor jones was

"there's a fire in my brain and i'm burning up / i keep running to the sink but the well is dry" so, i imagine this as fred sr. searching for the pieces of the planespheric disc. he hasn't succeeded in his goals and it's like him going back to his task but coming with hardly any results

"every word i say is kindling, but the smoke clears when you're around / won't you stay with me, my darling? when my walls start burning down, down, down" i can kind of see this being related to his relationship with fred (jr)... how he’s trying to shroud his involvement in the search for the discs and him being the freak of crystal cove in smoke. however when fred jr is alone he can’t hide it all that well because of his tendency to solve mysteries. burning down his walls of secrets basically 

"this house says my name like an elegy / echoing where all my ghosts used to be* ghosts could be referring to the original mystery inc and how he betrayed them. YOU COULD ALSO take this as a reference to a haunting in crystal cove with pericles haunting him and whatnot

"there's still cobwebs in the corners and the backyard's full of bones, won't you stay with me, my darling, when this house don't feel like home (x2)?" i saw this as how long he's been working on finding the rest of the pieces, to the point where cobwebs are metaphorically growing and there's bones all around him.

“oh ashes to ashes, dust to dust, the devil’s after both of us” the devil = nibiru who is you know this destructive entity and catalyst hence the use of the phrase ashes to ashes and dust to dust. its after not just him but everyone in crystal cove. 

“lay my curses out to rest, make a mercy out of me” my curses… the curse of crystal cove of course 

“this tired old machine is rumbling/singing songs to the secrets behind my eye” the eyes are the mirror of the soul, get it? he’s referring to the big secrets he’s been keeping from everyone, his identity as the freak of crystal cove, not being fred jr’s biological parent. also, the machine is fred sr’s drive for the treasure, encouraging him to keep moving on with all the secrets.

“all my aching bones are trembling, and i may yet fall apart/won’t you stay with me, my darling? when the war starts in my heart (x2)” ok so i could make fun of him and say he’s getting older. but it’s not just that. i always imagined the “darling” in this scenario to be fred jr… not in a romantic way of course! but im sure he still wants him to be in his life. its complicated but he DOES love him. the war in his heart is deciding what means more to him: the treasure or his son. we all know what choice he makes in the end, but he also wants to know if fred jr sees it the same way. 

“oh ashes to ashes, dust to dust, the devil’s after both of us” in my mind i was seeing this as the scene in all fear the freak where the freak (fred sr.) confronts the gang and fred jr chases after him since it’s an intense chorus 

“ashes to ashes, dust to dust, tell me i am good enough” this change of lyrics means a lot to me cause it’s him being vulnerable. it made me think of when he says that fred jr is still his son, and that he raised him. he’s asking if he’s good enough as a father, if he’s worthy of that one thing 

“lay my curses out to rest, make a mercy out of” the song ends without saying “out of me”. it feels like an unfulfilled request since the curse has corrupted his mindset to do heinous actions. also, in this timelines he’s technically never given mercy since he  gets yk… eaten in the last episode before the timeline is reset.
