Is it just me or do you also feel that conversations with your people are limited to a small talk, casual "how are you?" and "what's up?" The caution to not ask too much, and to not say too much.
We crave a deep understanding connection but somehow, we can't really accept being known. Everyone walks around with a heart full of secrets, a mind heavy with words unsaid. We laugh at half-hearted jokes, nod at predictable answers, and move on before anything real can settle between us. Vulnerability has become a rare currency, one that few are willing to spend. No one dwells, no one lingers. No one pauses long enough to ask, "What keeps you up at night?" or "What makes your heart ache in ways you can't explain?"
Deep conversation feels so heavy because what if you don't even care about what i say? I don't remember how many times I've left the conversation in the middle because you weren't paying attention or you brought up something else. I swallowed my thoughts because it was easier than dealing with indifferences. So close to the connection we crave but yet so far because of the fear of the unknown.
It's tragic isn't it? We settled for fleeting moments, for shallow words when we can have soul-deep conversations. Why? Just because you build those walls, apparently to protect yourself, unaware how they keep us from belonging, from love and, understanding. We exist next to each other but we all are alone in our heads.
