❝ Pain and passion synchronized, comprising 𝐮𝐧𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧, old and wise. Songs of the soul. 𝚘𝚑, in torment they are born. ❞ ⌞ template. ⌝
As soon as she heard a fellow voice call out a command, her upper body bolted upright, her gaze averting from her partner and towards the source. A look of shock spread across her face for a brief second; was that really…?
“I-I..”
It was obvious she was pretty shaken up; her voice failing her as she tried to answer, like a lump had taken residence in there and prevented it. It felt like a weight was on her chest. She simply gave a hesitant nod, though given the state of things… it was doubtful she really was alright.
The Houndoom’s eyes grew wide as it was violently thrust into the air with the ground-type’s attack, landing with a loud thud and a yelp. It scrambled to it’s feet, now that it had a opponent that could fight back? That was their own size? It backed up. Before a second Earthquake could be used, it bolted, tail between it’s legs…
Rika had seen this look before. A young trainer that got in a little too much over their head. Whether it be on accident or not, the result was still the same. Still, she wasn't about to just let the student stay shaken up like this.
"Hey, hey, don't worry, everything is going to be okay." She keeps her tone soft, steady. The last thing she wants is to spook her or make things worse.
Before she does anything else, Rika glances back to the Pokemon battle, or the remnants of it. The Houndoom had fled like a frightened pup. Guess it wasn't so tough after all. Meanwhile, Clodsire watched his opponent flee. Figuring the battle is over, he slowly turns around and begins making his way back to his trainer's side.
"See? My buddy took care of the big bad dog. Just take a couple of breaths in and out." While trying to console the student and calm her down, she does a quick look over her. She seemed fine, thankfully, it was just her poor Pokemon that had taken a beating. "As long as I'm around, nothin' is going to hurt you or your pals."
As soon as Rika’s words made their way to her ears? Well, she… started to feel a bit better. Like a warm blanket had been wrapped around her. Shoulders that were towering slowly started to lower, her breathing started to centre itself once more, starting to slow…
Her purple orbs glanced back towards the battle that had wrapped up, seeing the… unfamiliar Pokemon that had dealt with the Houndoom. Was that… a smile? Yes, it was a faint one. But seeing the poison/ground-type slowly make their way over, seeing their face… it was so dopey. She loved it!
Lilana took her advice, her breathing slowing itself even further. All that tension that had built itself up inside of her? It started to melt away, the weight on her chest gradually started to lift.
She felt she could speak now. But, before she did, she’d grab a lone Pokeball and send her tired Skiddo into it, he deserved it. She’d place a kiss on said ball before stuffing it back into her bag. Glancing upwards towards Rika. She began to explain.
“T-thank you so, so much, miss. We were group training and… and I think it might have been waiting for us to tire ourselves out… If I had just… I dunno…”
There was a twinge of embarrassing present in her voice, like she felt that there was a way she could have known that she was going to be ambushed or something. Her simply being silly, but it weighed on her mind.
[ Really excited for her to take on the Gym Challenge at some point. The interaction possibilities are gonna be so fun! Especially with characters like Grusha and Iono. ]
[ Hm. Silly question but given it’s called. Well, experience. I’ve been thinking that levelling up could occur regardless of winning / losing an encounter. The experience of the battle itself is what makes a Pokemon stronger. Makes it so her team can level through interactions even if they lose. Thoughts? ]
That makes sense!
Nah.

A Wild Rescue! Time - 5:35 PM
A closed roleplay for @melusea
Evening drew near within the region; the sun drifting off to sleep in the distance, leaving a faint orange hue to the world. Most would be wrapping up their adventures for the day, mainly due to the fact that adventuring in the dark blanket of night, without a very specific reason, was very foolhardy. Especially for fledgling trainers. Lilana of course knew this, and wasn’t one to take such a risk. She knew her limits. But alas, it seemed luck had something else planned for her…
The air was tense as the battle raged like that of the sea during a storm. It had all been such a blur; group training with her Pokemon had just wrapped up, and as they were all about to head off for the hefty trek back to the academy, a wild Houndoom saw an opportunity and took it. The result? Well, she was down to her final partner, Irvine, her Skiddo. An unfavourable matchup, to say the least.
“Y-yikes… this is… b-bad…”
Lilana’s usually cheerful disposition was completely gone. She was in over her head, her shoulders raised high and tensed as her breathing shook. She was panicking, no one would be out here at this time… Irvine continued to dodge and try to get some damage in, but the fire-type was just so, so tough. The grass-type was struck, and a yelp escaped from him, being thrown backwards towards Lilana’s feet. A scream barged it’s way out of her mouth, lowering herself to him as he struggled to his feet.
Unbeknownst to her, a hero was on their way…
With all her duties finished early, it was nice to get out and stretch her legs. Fresh air was always welcomed after a hard day of work, especially when being stuck indoors all day. Traversing through a town or city was her go to, Rika likes to mingle with people, see new faces and maybe learn something new.
But she also enjoyed strolling outside into the wild. As an Elite Four member, Rika can easily handle herself. She isn't one to start a battle out of nowhere, but she will if she has too.
"Hm? What's that?" Not only did a Pokemon's cry catch her ears, but so did that of a trainer. That did not sound good.
Rika rushes over to the scene, finding a student going up against a Houndoom. Those Pokemon always seemed to cause trouble, especially at this hour. Regardless, she isn't about to let that dark-type have its way.
"C'mon, we can't let'em have it's way," she says with a grin, hand already pulling out a Pokeball. "Clodsire, go! Use Earthquake!"
She tosses the ball into the air and out comes the amphibious Pokemon. He lands right between the student and the approaching Houndoom. Clodsire doesn't hesitate to follow the command, the ground beneath Houndoom's paws begins to shake, before it becomes uneven and strikes it. While her Pokemon deals with the wild Houndoom, Rika makes her way over to her.
"Hey, kid! You alright there?"
As soon as she heard a fellow voice call out a command, her upper body bolted upright, her gaze averting from her partner and towards the source. A look of shock spread across her face for a brief second; was that really…?

"Once I reach Rank A, I will make it my mission to bring happiness to the people of Lumiose! To do so, I will make each and every one of them into the strongest Trainer they can be—for that is my duty as an influential socialite! Let us begin our promotion match—and the conclusion of the Le Super-Tournoi de Jacinthe. May it be a battle worthy of the occasion!"

“Wow! You’re a Paldean Champion?”
The girl asked, head tilting to the side before beaming a grin up at the woman, holding her hand out to shake.
“It’s very nice to meet you, miss! I’m Lilana. Would it be ok if I asked some questions? It’s just… I’m trying to become a better battler.”
She hesitates slightly, but does take her hand for shake.
"It's nice to meet you too, lilana! And of course, what dud you have in mind?"
Its not often Mara gets to pass on advice, but, she doesnt mind helping where she can.
“Oh, thank you so, so much!”
She’d release the Champion’s hand after the shake, adjusting her bag straps slightly before continuing.
“What would you say helped you out early on when it came to going up against a Gym Leader? I’ve been thinking about taking on the Gym Challenge but… I know I’m just not ready to do so yet.”
(Sorry, its slow on my end. I'm at work and it's annoyingly busy, haha.)
"Hm, that is an interesting question my friend."
She starts, needing a second to actually think of an answer. It has been a while since she took on the challenge. But there is one thing that personally pushed her.
"To be honest, it's okay to not be ready. Sometimes, extra training is what's needed. Other times, like for me personally, you just need a push."
She pauses for a second. Thinking about how she wants to phrase what she wants to say next.
"It doesn't have to be crazy. But something that makes you stop and think 'how would this affect xyz?' You know?"
“Yeah… Yeah! I think I know what you mean!”
Lilana gave a gentle nod towards the woman as she spoke, her smile persisting.
“I guess I’ve been so pigeonholed into being as ready as possible that it’s kinda… paralysed me to even start it, y’know? Thank you so much for this, I think… that was actually the push I needed myself, actually!”
"The important thing is not how long you live.... It's what you accomplish with your life."

Morning Training! Time - 6:00 Am
The veil of inky black once called night had been pierced by the morning sun’s arrow; shattering the grasp it once had over the world. Most students would be stirring from their slumber at such a time, getting ready for the day ahead.
All except one. She was already out and about! It was her usual routine, one she had been doing for a month at this point, and today would not be the start of it being broken! Lilana would start her days with a little bit of training with her team before her classes started. Where was this particular scene? Well, her favourite spot of course! She used it as a place to train, study as well as to just relax herself when things got a little much.
Amongst the waves of green fields was a particular oak tree, one that towered above all others in the immediate area. It stood out due to it being a loner; one not among the other Oaks. Maybe that’s why she gravitated towards it so much; she felt that it needed a friend, perhaps? Regardless, this was where our current scene was taking place.
“Irvine! Try to control their central line!“
A confident voice echoed throughout the field, a quick command speeding from her lips as an intense battle took place between a Skiddo and Meowth, Lilana overseeing the encounter from the ground, Alistair watching from the branches up above. Vines emitted from the Grass-type, trying to keep the Meowth’s bouncy nature contained and boxed in. Each swing made the Skiddo hop a little, each movement filled with purpose. Meanwhile Basil was making sure to evade each and every swing, thrusting himself backwards forwards, to the side utilising all four of his limbs. Lilana smiled.
“Basil; good footwork, keep it up and stay alert!”
This scene would continue, all the while the girl was unaware of a new presence that would soon be making their way into the scene.
