Chip Dale

“I have money saved. We can use it to buy a house and get started.” Chip stated, he grabbed Jefferson’s hand and squeezed it. He couldn’t believe this was happening.

Chip stared at him, searching his eyes. “Are you sure?” He asked, his face breaking into a smile “you’d really do this?”

Chip bit his lip for a second. “I wouldn’t leave you. But I also really want to do this… and I know I’m asking a lot of you to come with me… I mean you’d be giving up the rest of your education. But I know this coach… if you turn her down once she’ll never offer again. This could be my only chance at getting to the Olympics. But I won’t leave if you want me to stay. I’d rather have you over any skating coach.”

Chip sat at the table to start his breakfast and pulled out his phone again. He unlocked it and slid it across the table to show Jefferson the email, offering him an opportunity to train with one of Canada’s top skating coaches. The offer even included a statement saying she’d claim him if he didn’t have one already so he could leave the school.

Chip smiled at him, “Thanks. I’m sorry I didn’t get up to help…” he took in a deep breath. “I think we need to talk about something.”

Chip was staring at his phone, at the email he’d just received. It was a big one. He didn’t know what to do with it… he put his phone in his pocket and exited the bedroom. He wandered into the kitchen and straight over to Jefferson. He hugged him tight and tried not to think about the fact they’d have to do scenes with other people this semester.

“More.” He corrected. “I love you more.” He chuckled and kissed Jefferson’s cheek.

Chip ducked his head, “I’m sorry. I wanted to text you but aunt Joey took my phone, I mean it’s probably a good thing that she did. I was in no shape to be using it. But still… I missed you. Actually at one point I think I was convinced you weren’t real and I’d made you up entirely.” He fell quiet, his fingers reaching up to grip Jefferson’s shirt and refusing to let go.

“Me too. I honestly can’t remember much of the last couple weeks. And what I do remember I’m having a hard time figuring out if it was real or not…” Chip chewed on his lip.

Chip nodded, “Yeah, I’ve been on a lot of different stuff to keep the fever down and everything. Not sure exactly the names of everything she gave me, though.”

Chip was more than happy to crawl right into the bed and cuddle close to Jefferson. He nodded at the question, “A bit. It’s not as bad as it was last week. Mostly just tired and cold all the time.
