I have such a hard time figuring out how to write Darumi's voice. In my other fic where I wrote her, I had her using first person pronouns, but after learning more about everyone's manner of speaking in Japanese I decided I'd do the third person thing to hopefully make it feel more...Darumi

I also adjusted the way everyone refers to each other based on that, though I opted against using honorifics. It always just feels kind of forced to me in English writing, though it is interesting. If these guys ever start calling each other by their first names/change honorifics as they become more familiar over the course of the route I'm not aware of it. (Aside from Tsubasa becoming Tsubasa-sama to Darumi, of course.)

Even though I try to write in specific characters' povs, I haven't really been matching the names used in narration with what they call each other - aside from the one I wrote with Tsubasa and Yugamu, where I wanted to really emphasize that they're not close. Will I change this going forward? I don't know. In my head they're all [first name] to me.

Anyway, I knew Darumi had to referencing a piece of killing game media and/or an eroge. I was inclined towards the latter, even though that's not really my genre. Obviously my thought was to go for something by Nitro+, but I wanted to avoid Saya no Uta since it's already namedropped in the game. I was actually going to go for something Nitro CHiRAL because I'm a little more familiar with those until I remembered that I've actually played Totono. I played the censored steam version, but still.

I thought it might be a little too casual of a game for her tastes, but far more hardcore VN players than I seem to respect it, so why not. Maybe she's just attempting to make concessions for Tsubasa*. The "betraying original love interest to pursue someone else" was of course amusing to me in the context of romancing Tsubasa (& co). There was definitely potential in there for a crack about the NTR but I think we can take it easy with the cucking jokes.
