[Monkey's Delivery Service from MOTHER 3] is almost always the first one to come to mind when I think about good bass in video game OSTs, for whatever reason. Admittedly not my favorite part of the game, it's kinda tedious, but that bass lives in my brain rent free.
[Cyllage City from Pokemon XY] also has a pretty good bass to it, in my opinion.
And to pull one from my childhood, [City Funk from Drawn to Life] is SO STANKY. Appropriate name, it's funky as hell. Certified Funky VG Beat.

What are some soundtracks you think are under rated
Underrated... That's a tricky one, all of the OSTs that come to mind are absolutely not underrated LMAO. Things like LISA, Space Funeral (even if i'm cheating with that one) the Persona games, Stardew Valley, the MOTHER series...
Yknow what. Defaulting to one of my absolute favorite games of all time, The Legend of Dragoon. It's a PS1 JRPG from... 1999 or 2000, I believe, and it's a really underrated game in general. Hidden gem, in my opinion. The music in that game makes me FEEL THINGS.
[SORROW] MAKES MY HEART ACHE. [TWILIGHT OF ROSE] MOVES ME IN WAYS I CANNOT EXPLAIN. [BOSS BATTLE 1] GETS ME FUCKING GOING, THE ENERGY IS INCREDIBLE. [DART'S THEME] MAKES ME WANNA SAVE THE WORLD IN A VERY ANIME WAY. And my god do NOT get me FUCKING STARTED ON [IF YOU STILL BELIEVE].

AUGH that's a TOUGH ONE... I'm so so bad at favorites, I'm so indecisive LMAOO. My first two thoughts were [Ho-Oh's battle theme from HGSS] and [the Kanto gym leader theme Also from HGSS]. I just really like Johto.
But also special shoutout to [the lake guardian theme from DPPt] because I loved it so much as a kid and was CONVINCED it was obtainable as a CD in Smash Bros Brawl and I grinded the absolute SHIT out of that game trying to get it.
It is not in the game. I had very limited internet access at the time, I didn't know any better LMAOO.

[Semifinal Battle from Pokemon Colosseum]. Absolutely no contest. Hands down. Fell in love with it the first time I heard it at the tender age of eight and it has been my favorite ever since. Ooohhh it's so good. GOD it's so good, that BASS... the SYNTH... the guitar too, it all goes together so wonderfully and it just MOVES ME. Truly cannot overstate how much I love this track.
one of the biggest plusses to this blog, for me, is that it being largely request based allows for more obscure, lesser known, or otherwise off the beaten path VGM to reach more people (at least, in theory). As someone who's very invested in VGM as an artform- actively researching it, writing about it (rarely), deep diving soundtracks even from games I haven't and may never play- I think that's a net good because so much of the medium is kinda slept on both from a listening perspective, and from an academic study perspective. Which is a shame- there's *so much more* amazing VGM, in all kinds of genres, besides what you hear in Nintendo games or UT/DR or what have you, and I am actively anti-gatekeeping about it- I WANT more people to hear it! So uh, tl;dr, thank you for providing a means to get more people to check out songs or soundtracks they otherwise wouldn't. Stay frosty and remember, VGMDb and Mobygames are your friends!

I absolutely agree, there are SO many absolutely INCREDIBLE video game OSTs out there that people just straight up don't know about, and I've learned about so many games myself from having requests open for so long. My favorite requests are the super obscure ones, honestly, especially from older things, like... I've gotten a request or two from Japan-exclusive PC-98 games and those delight me so much. I have such a fascination for old and obscure games from that era and further back.
I love the popular funky beats as well, of course! They're popular for a reason! But I do love that I'm able to learn about and share hidden gems with others in my little corner of Tumblr.

Well, I've had an idea for a game slowly cooking in my brain for the last... I dunno, six years or so, and I'd like to make it someday, but other projects keep getting in the way. I'm also admittedly really intimidated by learning how to program, even in something as simple as RPG Maker LMAO.
It would be EXTREMELY LISA-adjacent. [Haunting and eerie], [somber and melancholic], and just [bizarre and potentially obnoxious nonsense] in battles against awful body horror monsters. I... Do not know how to classify these as a genre.

What's your favorite Danganronpa game, and what's your favorite track from the series?
Well, I've only played DR1 and SDR2 and a couple hours of Ultra Despair Girls. Lost my copy that I accidentally stole from my ex boyfriend and the vita TV is lost in the abyss of our storage room WHOOPS.
It's been a running joke between my brother and I that we'll eventually get to playing DRV3 together. We've been saying this since the game came out in 2017.
Anyway SDR2 is my favorite, no contest. I love it so much. I love it so much. Gundam Tanaka my chuuni SON. MY BOY!!!!
Again, super bad at favorites, but the [main theme or whatever from SDR2] gets me pumped and makes me soooo fuckin nostalgic. It's been a long time since I've played a Danganonpa, and I think I have them on steam, so maybe I'll have to give them a replay...

I've learned about SOOOO many games through the blog. Y'all pull out some obscure shit sometimes I'll tell you what LMAO. I'm having a hard time thinking of ones I've investigated because. I am tired. But I am EXTREMELY intrigued by corru.observer and it's been on my never-ending 'to play' list for a hot minute. The aesthetic in the music is RIGHT up my alley.
I am just. Really really bad at starting and finishing games. Stardew Valley currently has me in a vise grip, you see. So, I'm unsure if I'll be getting to it anytime soon. But I will Someday. This I Swear.

I... Wanna say that's true? At the very least I did not get far at all. I just checked and I didn't say that in any tags so I do not know how you know that, because I certainly don't recall mentioning it LMAOOO.
I also can't remember why I stopped playing it, because it was with the aforementioned boyfriend, and that would have been well over ten years ago at this point. I've heard pretty much exclusively good things about it, and I think I was having fun? It certainly seems like something I'd enjoy, I just like... Don't own an original xbox and I think our PS2 is busted (rip, we played that thing to death).

I love love love peach and mango flavored things, but peaches themselves have a texture I don't care for and I'm a little bit allergic to mango fruits on their own. I cannot tell you how much that upsets me LMAO.

Ooh, interesting question! It's been a loooong time since I started the blog, somewhere around... 2013? 2014? On top of that, my memory is fucking atrocious, so I'm struggling a little to remember, but...
I've just always really loved music, I guess? I get a lot of inspiration for creative projects from music, it's very important to me. I'm almost certain the idea came up with my boyfriend at the time. He was a collector of rare games and consoles, and it really rubbed off on me, so we talked about shit like that all the time. I wanna say the topic just came up at one point and we kept playing with the idea and one day I was just like. You know what. Fuck it. Let's do it. So I did it!
It was something like that, at least.
