funky video game beats!!

the cgi looks genuinely great I can't even describe it as aged it just looks fantastic, the backgrounds are all so detailed and just wonderful to look at holy shit I wish the miiverse guy was here to look at the water it looks so slurpable and I thought the 3d models were just gonna be like stiff action figurines but right from the get go Dart is just doing flips and shit and it all looks so good (the prison warden just chucking his minions is so fucking funny) and what do you mean it's got action commands for the combat it's so cool

I didn't think I had it in me to play another multi disc rpg for a long time after playing tales of eternia but now I'm supper giddy to see how this one turns out

but also this is a music blog and stuff so uuhhhh the menu theme is really groovy I wasn't expecting that kind of vibe from a game like this, I actually left to do something while I was playing and left the game on just to hear it it's so good still only reached the first town so after the cave so I've seen barely anything but thanks for the recommendation I love to hear you talk about random stuff even just in the notes

I'm going to be real with you. I've been having a fucking miserable week. But hearing that I've successfully influenced someone outside of my personal life to play The Legend of Dragoon has brought me a HUGE WAVE of such GENUINE DELIGHT, like, holy SHIT I am SO THRILLED ABOUT THIS.

I'm so so glad you're having fun with it!!!! I LOVE the combat system, it keeps me so engaged and it feels so unique, I don't think I've ever played another game with a combat system like this!! Each party member has their own unique additions, there's so much variety between all of them!! And my GOD the pre-rendered backgrounds are fucking GORGEOUS, RIGHT?? So much care and attention went into each and every background, they're ALL like that throughout the entire game and I love it SO MUCH.

The menu music is so funky, I've also left it on while doing other shit because it's just so SWANKY... so GROOVY... It's a vibe for sure. I just love the OST in general, honestly, if. That wasn't obvious LMAOO.

I really really hope you enjoy your journey through the game. I know it's got some problems, but it means SO much to me and it makes me so genuinely happy to hear that someone else is enjoying it because of me :)

[Monkey's Delivery Service from MOTHER 3] is almost always the first one to come to mind when I think about good bass in video game OSTs, for whatever reason. Admittedly not my favorite part of the game, it's kinda tedious, but that bass lives in my brain rent free.

[Cyllage City from Pokemon XY] also has a pretty good bass to it, in my opinion.

I'm so sleep deprived and having a hell of a time (derogatory) so this was an absolute delight to google, I'm CRYING why are they DOING THIS TO DOGS LMAOOO.

This type of poodle is fucking killing me. They are just Shapes held together by STICKS. What are we DOING HERE.

Underrated... That's a tricky one, all of the OSTs that come to mind are absolutely not underrated LMAO. Things like LISA, Space Funeral (even if i'm cheating with that one) the Persona games, Stardew Valley, the MOTHER series...

Yknow what. Defaulting to one of my absolute favorite games of all time, The Legend of Dragoon. It's a PS1 JRPG from... 1999 or 2000, I believe, and it's a really underrated game in general. Hidden gem, in my opinion. The music in that game makes me FEEL THINGS.

[SORROW] MAKES MY HEART ACHE. [TWILIGHT OF ROSE] MOVES ME IN WAYS I CANNOT EXPLAIN. [BOSS BATTLE 1] GETS ME FUCKING GOING, THE ENERGY IS INCREDIBLE. [DART'S THEME] MAKES ME WANNA SAVE THE WORLD IN A VERY ANIME WAY. And my god do NOT get me FUCKING STARTED ON [IF YOU STILL BELIEVE].

Thank you!! I absolutely agree, there are SO many absolutely INCREDIBLE video game OSTs out there that people just straight up don't know about, and I've learned about so many games myself from having requests open for so long. My favorite requests are the super obscure ones, honestly, especially from older things, like... I've gotten a request or two from Japan-exclusive PC-98 games and those delight me so much. I have such a fascination for old and obscure games from that era and further back.

I love the popular funky beats as well, of course! They're popular for a reason! But I do love that I'm able to learn about and share hidden gems with others in my little corner of Tumblr.

Well, I've had an idea for a game slowly cooking in my brain for the last... I dunno, six years or so, and I'd like to make it someday, but other projects keep getting in the way. I'm also admittedly really intimidated by learning how to program, even in something as simple as RPG Maker LMAO.

Well, I've only played DR1 and SDR2 and a couple hours of Ultra Despair Girls. Lost my copy that I accidentally stole from my ex boyfriend and the vita TV is lost in the abyss of our storage room WHOOPS.

It's been a running joke between my brother and I that we'll eventually get to playing DRV3 together. We've been saying this since the game came out in 2017.

Anyway SDR2 is my favorite, no contest. I love it so much. I love it so much. Gundam Tanaka my chuuni SON. MY BOY!!!!

AUGH that's a TOUGH ONE... I'm so so bad at favorites, I'm so indecisive LMAOO. My first two thoughts were [Ho-Oh's battle theme from HGSS] and [the Kanto gym leader theme Also from HGSS]. I just really like Johto.

But also special shoutout to [the lake guardian theme from DPPt] because I loved it so much as a kid and was CONVINCED it was obtainable as a CD in Smash Bros Brawl and I grinded the absolute SHIT out of that game trying to get it.

I've learned about SOOOO many games through the blog. Y'all pull out some obscure shit sometimes I'll tell you what LMAO. I'm having a hard time thinking of ones I've investigated because. I am tired. But I am EXTREMELY intrigued by corru.observer and it's been on my never-ending 'to play' list for a hot minute. The aesthetic in the music is RIGHT up my alley.

I am just. Really really bad at starting and finishing games. Stardew Valley currently has me in a vise grip, you see. So, I'm unsure if I'll be getting to it anytime soon. But I will Someday. This I Swear.

I... Wanna say that's true? At the very least I did not get far at all. I just checked and I didn't say that in any tags so I do not know how you know that, because I certainly don't recall mentioning it LMAOOO.

I also can't remember why I stopped playing it, because it was with the aforementioned boyfriend, and that would have been well over ten years ago at this point. I've heard pretty much exclusively good things about it, and I think I was having fun? It certainly seems like something I'd enjoy, I just like... Don't own an original xbox and I think our PS2 is busted (rip, we played that thing to death).
