Our little guy didn't make it

Phone calls and consults with multiple vets since Wednesday - including one this morning who denied my request for a complete blood count - and I'd had my extremely correct concerns shut down every time

Poor baby had some real nasty internal bleeding and I feel so unbelievably guilty

Wattle is roughly 6 weeks old, judging by the number of tiny needle teeth in his mouth and the little flecks of gold in his eyes

Perils of an Australian summer

Silly Sage found an eastern brown snake INSIDE my house, killed it, and brought it to me first thing Monday morning 🥴

My partner works as a removalist and likes to bring home things from work, usually furniture his customers don't want or a six pack of beer as a tip. This week, it was this poor, neglected little cat. She'd never been inside before, didn't have a name, and would've been dumped to die had my partner not stepped in.

Her fur was so matted that it was tearing chunks from her skin, I couldn't find a groomer that was willing to take her so I spent 12 hours sitting on the floor with her, gently trimming the matted fur out of her coat. I salvaged her little mane and her curly belly fluff, and she has a beautiful smoke undercoat that I've left some length in to keep her warm.

We took her to my favourite vet early yesterday morning who says she's about 15 years old and is very healthy, given her circumstances. They even called this morning to check on her, and were very pleased with her progress.

Rescued in February with life-threatening injuries, I adopted him three months ago and he's settled in so well. He has FIV and a heart murmur but he's currently a very healthy gummy shark!
