I haven't been actively posting on Tumblr for a while and decided to revamp my account...right now.
Bear with me on this, I haven't uploaded fanfiction since middle school & can't say too much about how great my work ethic will be.
I will be making and building my masterlist as well.
EDIT: For now my blog will only contain SFW content because I haven't gotten good at NSFW yet...
My requests are open :)
°❀⋆.ೃ࿔*:・°❀⋆.ೃ࿔*:・
My only rules would be the obvious:
- No rape/incestuous themes
- My blog is NOT welcome to homophobes, racists, or any other bigoted groups
- No "pro-shipping"
·:*¨༺ ♱✮♱ ༻¨*:·
I write for the following fandoms/groups
- Alice in Borderland
- Squid Game
- The Walking Dead
- All Of Us Are Dead
- Weak Hero
-Blood Hounds
- Hunter x Hunter
- Spy x Family
-Deathnote
-Stranger Things
°❀⋆.ೃ࿔:・°❀⋆.ೃ࿔:・
If you want to request something that's not on this list, that's fine. I'm pretty laid back so I'll likely consider it. The intention of the list is just to know what to mostly expect from me. Though I prefer if most of my requests would be x reader because that's what I find I happen to be best at.

The sound of your pencil gliding against the paper filled the silent sanctuary of your bedroom, each streak building up the handsome face you’ve found quite hard to forget. Your CD spun in the background, making life feel far too normal.
A knock at your door caused you to jump, scrambling to hide the drawing beneath a pile of others as your father entered the room.
Peering inside, he chuckled as he heard the music. “The hell is this?”
“Lady Gaga.” You replied, giving him a blank look.
“Where’d you get that? Alexandria?”
“Yeah.”
The lie slipped off your tongue so easily, a rush washing over you as you watched him fall for it.
“My girl,” Your father smiled. “I knew you’d come around.”
You gave a weak chuckle. You didn’t come around for shit. In fact, you didn’t even so much as glance at any of the belongings in Alexandria. The CD was brought back by one of the Saviors who found it out on a run.
“I just wanted to know if you wanted to head up to Hilltop in a few hours, I’ve been so caught up with Alexandria I almost forgot to pay that pigshit leader a visit.” He said, looking down at his watch—or really—Gregory’s watch.
Something came over you, an epiphany, an idea of sorts. “Yeah,” You replied with a quickness. “Yes, I’ll go. I mean, I haven’t been there in a while.”
Negan chuckled, “Alright, I’ll have you head over with Simon and the men in a bit.”
You nodded, your smile dropping as soon as the door clicked shut. Simon? You were going with Simon? That man can’t stand you! Hell, you’ve never heard a positive thing leave his mouth when it came to you.
You pulled the drawing back out, glancing down at the glossy eye and wild hair of the boy.
Tucking it away for safe keeping, you tied your hair up and left your room.
Knock.
Knock, knock, knock.
Knock.
You patted gently on the door, pressing your ear against it for any signs of life before gently opening it.
Light peered in from behind you, Daryl practically hissing at the sight of it.
“It’s good to let the light in,” You said gently, setting down an opened can of food and a bottle of water. “Too much darkness can disrupt your biorhythms.”
You picked up the trash from the food you brought last time, seeing it stashed away in a corner.
So, he did eat it after all.
“I told one of your friends about where you are, maybe they’re planning to come get you.” You spoke, a gentleness to your voice that Daryl hasn’t heard since…
Since Beth.
“Though, I’m not sure, he didn’t seem to believe me.” You replied to his silence, looking down at your feet. “It was the boy… with the eyepatch? What’s…What’s his name?”
Silence filled the air, Daryl didn’t grunt, he didn’t move. Nothing except the sound of your own breathing filled the room.
Glancing down at the food one last time before looking back at him, you sighed. “I hope you don't mind tomato soup.”

The truck bounced over every rock on the dirt path as the Saviors drove up to Hilltop. While the men around you conspired on the things they planned to do once at the community, you conspired a plan of your own.
Few times has Hilltop ever seen you, not because you don’t go, but because you lurk in the shadows. You were like a mouse mazing its way through the night streets of New York, silent and alone.
That was until last time—a man had approached you.
“We’re here!” Simon yelled from the front.
Everyone filed out of the vehicles, readying weapons and cracking jokes. Meanwhile, you were lost in thought, assembling the gun you didn’t plan to use.
A hand landed on your shoulder, thick fingers digging into your skin with a malicious force. You turned to see Simon, an unpleasant look on his face.
“I’m not your dad,” he growled. “I don’t see a goddamn point in you tagging along, you don’t do shit, you don’t help with shit. I know you’re up to something, and when I find out…” He let out an unamused chuckle. “When I find out, I will stop you. I don't care what I have to do.”
He tapped a finger to the middle of your forehead. “Right here. No one will stop me, not the little friends you’re trying to make in Alexandria, not your dad, no one. So, I suggest you straighten the fuck up.”
The hairs on the back of your neck stood up, goosebumps mapping your entire body as each cold word left his mouth. Simon was… Inexplainable. He could do whatever he wanted, and form out a significant enough lie to tell your dad. Maybe he’d even kill your dad, you didn’t put it past him. Either way, you knew the rest of the Saviors would lie on his behalf over defending you.
Looking up at him, you swallowed as you nodded. He pushed you away, causing your step to falter a bit.
“Gregory!” Simon shouted, hands on his hips as he practically oozed a sadistic confidence. “Open up, old man!”
As the gates opened, you made your way into the community. Everything was all too familiar, glancing around like you’d been there a hundred times.
Gregory eventually stepped out, immediately beginning to suck up to Simon. You took this interaction as a means to slip away from the crowd. You walked along the wall until you came face to face with someone.
“Jesus! You scared me…” You gasped, your hand resting over your beating heart.
He let out a chuckle, “I didn’t mean to.”
“Listen, I have to be quick because I’m here with Simon, not my dad.” You explained in a hushed tone. “He’s been onto me, if he realizes I’m gone–”
Jesus put his hands out, telling you to calm down. “I got it, I got it.”
You exhaled, “My dad has taken control of another community, it’s similar to this one. I think it’s led by a guy named Rick?”
“Alexandria?” He whispers.
“You know of it?”
“Yeah, I was the one to send them to the Saviors outpost.” He said, “What about it?”
“I was going to say…between the multitude of communities in the area, you guys could bind together against the Saviors.” You swallowed. “Alexandria doesn’t know about the Kingdom, but I plan to tell this boy about it next time I go. Also, my dad is holding an Alexandrian man hostage—if I helped him escape, would you be open to hiding him out here? The Saviors don’t know that Alexandria and Hilltop are in cahoots with each other.”
Jesus nodded, “Who’s the man?”
“His name is Daryl, this is where I’ll tell him to go. If he comes by, you have to let him in. Alexandria will be the first place my dad checks for him.”
Jesus clenched his jaw, a wave of familiarity washing over him. “Alright. Have you figured out a way to…lower the numbers of Saviors?”
You let out a breath, “I’ve figured out a few ways, I could always go on supply runs, but after a few deaths, people would get suspicious of me. I have had a lot of free time though, I could make a faulty bullet. If I replace them, I’d have to be gradual. I also can’t be caught spending too much time meddling in the lab, so they’ll take a while to make.”
“Whatever you decide to do, just make sure you’re careful about it. You’re the inside man here, can’t have you winding up dead.” He said with a kind smile.
You ran off, heading back to where the Saviors had been easily weaving back into the crowd just before they headed into Gregory’s flashy place of residence. Keeping your head down, you mingled at the back of the crowd as a very boring conversation commenced.
Time seemed to drag on forever until you were all headed back to the trucks, carrying heavy crates, you breathed a sigh of relief as you sat down.
“Where’d you run off to?” A voice growled. “Don’t think I didn’t notice.”
You glared up at Simon, “I had to pee.”
Simon scoffed, wiping the sarcastic grin off his face as he furrowed his eyebrows. “I don’t know what the hell you’re out there doing, but I know it won’t work.”
He grabbed your face with his hand, gripping it intensely. “You...you are full of shit, little girl.”
He scowled as he passed you, leaving you there to think. As the engine rumbled to life, something shifted. Little did Simon know, he just solidified your decision on gutting the Saviors from the inside out.
°❀⋆.ೃ࿔*:・°❀⋆.ೃ࿔*:・
You stepped off the back of the pickup, stretching your limbs as you prepared to help bring supplies inside. As you glanced around, you saw Daryl in the courtyard of geeks.
They let him out? You thought to yourself, giving a subtle wave that he did not reciprocate.
“Okay, boys, let's get this haul unloaded and inside.” Negan chirped as he came around.
A few men got up to grab supplies, the box breaking as glass shattered everywhere.
“Negan, I need to talk to you.” You turned your head as the Savior approached. “There were few problems with the redirect.”
“What do you mean problems?” Your father demanded.
“It didn’t get done.”
Your attention was cut by chaos from inside the truck.
“Son of a bitch!” A Savior shouted.
Before you knew it gunshots were flying everywhere. You ducked down, covering your ears as the boy emerged from the back of the truck. Standing up slowly from your crouched position, you stared at him in awe.
“Stay back! Drop your weapons!” He demanded. “I only want Negan.”
Your dad slowly started with his ear-piercing whistle, chuckling as he stood behind a Savior.
“Damn, you are adorable.” He chuckled. “Did you pick that gun ‘cause it looks cool? You totally did, right? Kid, I ain’t gonna lie, you scare the shit out of me.”
More gunshots fired as a few Saviors went to grab him, that was, until Dwight tackled him to the ground. You picked up the gun before Dwight could get his hands on it, holding it against your body.
“Dwight, back off.” Your dad muttered, holding a hand out to the boy. “Is that any way to treat our new guest? C’mon, kid, I will show you around.”
You glanced back at Daryl, seeing him watch the scene with a sharp eye.
“You know, you do the same damn stink-eye as your dad, except it’s only half as good ‘cause…” Negan chuckled. “Well, you know, you’re…”
“Dad!” You interrupted, putting your arms up in a way that read: What the hell?!
Negan looked over at you then back to the boy, his smirk not faltering. “Really? You’re really not gonna take my hand? ‘Cause you're still lucky you even still have a hand.” He sighed, looking back at Daryl. “Same as your boy Daryl over here, now that I think about it. How’s the job goin’ Daryl? Hot enough for you?”
Carl reluctantly took Negan’s hand, standing up and brushing himself off. As Negan gave direction to Dwight, you and him shared a quick, fleeting moment of eye contact.
You watched as Dwight took Daryl away, tempted to follow behind him.
“C’mon,” Your dad said to Carl, beginning to walk away before he turned back to look at you. “(Y/N). That means you too.”
You broke out of your train of thought as your dad called your name, hurriedly catching up to the two of them.
The familiar, musky smell of the Sanctuary filled your nostrils as you stepped inside. You stepped up along the edge of the indoor balcony, gazing down at the crowd of Saviors below. Each and every one of them knelt at just the presence of your dad.
“The Saviors have gone out into the world and fought the dead and come back with some really good stuff. Some of that stuff can be yours if you work hard and play by the rules.”
You felt the boy look over at you, however, you kept your eyes on the people below.
“Today, everybody gets fresh vegetables at dinner. No points needed.”
The crowd roared with cheers and applause, your dad turning to look at the boy beside you.
“You see that? Respect.” He whispered. “Cool, huh?”
Negan tilted his head toward you, “They still on their knees?”
You looked over at him and cleared your throat, giving out a demand of your own. “As you were.”
And just like that, they scrambled back to their duties like animals. It was then that Carl realized just who you were, and the level of power you held inside (and outside) these walls.
You both followed Negan down the halls into one of the many rooms. This room was one of the ones you dreaded the most.
As you stepped inside, you caught the gaze of his many “wives”.
You kept your head down, unable to hide your disgust. Being inside this room felt like psychological torture for you, it was one of those things you couldn’t avoid when met with it.
“Every woman from where you’re from dresses like they’re at an autoshop. You’re gonna wanna look at their titties. It’s cool, I won't mind, they won’t mind.” Negan whispered to Carl.
Your dad took one of his wives to a corner, leaving you and Carl there to share the same contempt look about the situation you’re in.
“I know,” You whispered as he stood there. “Listen, there’s some things I need to talk to you about. It has to do with Hilltop.”
His eye widened, shocked to hear the community leave your mouth.
“I know about the deal you guys made, but don’t freak out, because the secret is safe with me.” You said with a light smile, pressing a finger to your lips. “I talked to Jesus.”
“He told you?” He whispered, his eyebrow furrowed.
“Yeah. He did.” You replied, “Like I said, your secret is safe. I think it’s good you’ve made contact, it means the plans have a higher chance of succeeding.”
“What plans?”
“I said we’ll talk later.” You hushed him as your dad came back over.
You watched as he sat in front of his wife Amber, having a hushed conversation with her as she mumbled apologies. You cringed as she professed a teary “I love you.”
You felt Carl looking at you, but you didn’t take your eyes away from the scene. You hated watching how he treated these women in place of your mother. What would she think?
Footsteps creaked behind you as Dwight entered the room with Daryl. You didn’t miss the eye contact that he and Carl shared.
“Carl, will you grab this tray for me?”
Carl. So, that’s his name? Carl, Carl, Carl, Carl.
“Why do you got him here?” Daryl gruffed.
“Woah! What we talk about when you’re not here…is none of your business.” Negan winked. “Do not make me put this toothpick through the only eye he has. You go with Dwight. He’ll get you a mop.”
You bit your lip in suspense, the tension in the room thick enough to be cut with a knife.
“Dwighty boy, fire up that furnace. I’ll be down in a few.”
“Oh shit,” You whispered under your breath as Carl glanced over at you for the hundredth time. You sensed every time he looked in your direction, it was for a sense of grounding. Almost like actually seeing the weird ass community that was the Saviors made you look far more normal—and even trustworthy.

Many people hated your father. Not just the people terrorized by your group, but even a few amongst the Saviors hated him. He was ruthless, merciless, and evil. He tortured and killed people in ways you never imagined he would. Worst of all, he did it with that sick, shit-eating grin on his face.
Still, nobody hated him more than you, hated and loved him at the same time because no matter how evil he became, he was still your dad. The man who tucked you in at night, who used to drive you to school every morning, who pushed you so high on the swings that you felt like you were flying.
But you hated him, hated how he could kill people so easily; how he tortured those who were just desperate to survive; how he robbed innocent people of everything they had, swearing it was for your sake, to give you a better life.
You couldn’t help but find yourself more concerned with the likes of his victims each time he did this.
At each line up, you typically kept your head down, kept quiet. The sounds of skulls cracking was enough, you didn’t need to see the way someone’s face could so easily become a pile of nothing. It wasn’t hard to stick in the shadows during those gruesome moments either because your dad typically just…did his thing.
Except this time, Negan drove off with the man “Rick”, telling you to “watch over them and keep them in line” for him.
You looked confident enough, easily hiding the conflicting emotions inside of you as you received many stares from the victims. Your eyes trailed over some of the faces, avoiding the mangled corpses on the ground and the smell of blood in the cool, night air.
It wasn’t often that your dad killed two people in one night, it just seemed that this group got a little out of control. You had known the minute that man had punched your father, another fate was bound to be doomed.
That’s just the way things went around here.
Someone had caught your eye though, it was a boy who seemed to be around your age. He had a bandage over his face, shaggy brown hair, and some sheriff’s hat on his head.
He looked at you with defiance, his face wet with tears of sadness and anger. You stared at him for a bit longer than intended, trying to keep an emotionless face. His stare felt like he could see through your soul, and God did you hope he could. Maybe he could see that inside, you weren’t like the people you stood amongst, that you were different.
You wanted to be seen like that. You wanted to be seen as your own person.
You weren’t “Negan.”
The next few days after, you kept to yourself—as you usually did. You were debating what your next move would be, it was only a matter of time before you got to visit Alexandria. Not only were you concerned about Alexandria, but you knew about the man that was being held captive.
Shit, what was his name? You thought as you laid on your bed. Dylan? Derek?
You groaned as you sat up, staring at the posters of pop stars (and other things alike) on your wall. You smiled to yourself a bit. Your dad had always gone out of his way to try and give you a teenage experience—even if there wasn’t much he could do—the gesture always meant a lot.
Maybe his name was Daniel? You thought.
Somehow, you found yourself walking along the cells, each step you took making your heart beat quicker.
If someone found you here, what excuse were you to give? You didn’t have a single ally in the Sanctuary and everyone knew you had a heart of glass, too empathetic for your own good. Ironically, that’s the reason most people didn’t like you; they found you weak, emotional, not cut out to be a Savior.
You stood outside of his cell, hesitantly raising a fist before letting it lightly hit the door. There was rustling coming from inside, you took a breath before opening it.
Light shone in, but only from where the door was cracked open. Peaking inside, the man looked at you with a sense of stubbornness and also…weakness. You were aware of the psychological torture he was enduring, yet it seemed he still held some defiance. After all, you overheard Dwight mentioning a “hunger strike.”
“Hey,” You said, a bit breathless. You suddenly remembered the food in your hands as you gathered it for him. “I brought you a can of soup and crackers.”
He stayed in the same curled up position, staring at you with an intensity that sent shivers down your spine.
You glanced around, it absolutely reeked of bodily fluids inside. “If you could just…hide it? If Dwight sees it, he’ll know I was the one who gave it to you, and he’ll tell my dad.”
Still, no response.
“You don’t have to take it, I know it doesn’t make sense that I would help you. I just can’t live with this on my conscience.” You tried to explain, setting it down. “Maybe that makes me selfish.”
You took the silence as your cue to go, giving a slight nod, you turned around and slowly closed the cell door. You pressed your back against it, closing your eyes as you listened in for any movement.
When you heard nothing, you let out a silent sigh of disappointment and left.
°❀⋆.ೃ࿔*:・°❀⋆.ೃ࿔*:・
Alexandria was on the schedule for the next day, you thought about that boy again as you dressed yourself. Tightening your belt, you wondered if you’d see him there, what his house looked like. Even though you were going to steal from the Alexandrians, you were still excited to see this new place. You always loved meeting new people and getting out of the stinkhole that was the Sanctuary.
“You ready to head out?” Your dad called from the other side of the door.
“Yeah!” You replied as you finished doing your hair, you opened the door to him.
He always brought you everywhere with him, even prior to the apocalypse. He knew how most of the Saviors felt about you, it’s not like you had a single friend in all of the Sanctuary. He’d received many complaints from Simon—and others—about your fragility, he knew that you couldn’t see things the way he did.
“Well, you look nice.” He said, ruffling your hair.
“Dad! Stop, I just brushed it.” You grumbled, attempting to flatten it back out.
You waited in the passenger seat of the car, flicking your knife in your hand as the Saviors prepared to leave. You found out (via eavesdropping) that the rugged man’s name was Daryl. You weren’t too far off with the guesses.
Your mind wandered to Daryl, if he had ever taken the food. You had no idea how often they fed him, you just knew that it wasn’t nearly enough for a man of that size. Silently, you made a vow to yourself to help him out, it relieved some weight from your shoulders in a way.
His people probably missed him, they had no idea what Hell he was being put through at the Sanctuary. The Saviors just pounced on him like a savage animal, desperate to be tamed.
You were snapped out of your daze when Negan got in the car, handing you “Lucille.” God, you hated that. Of course, you were upset when your mom died and you knew he was grieving, but you couldn’t help but find it unsettling the way he treated that bat like it was human.
Like it was her.
The worst of it all was that he was using a murderous weapon in place of her, the most kind-hearted person you knew. The irony of it. She’d be appalled at the man he’s become and you knew it.
“If you see anything you want, and I mean anything at all—you go ahead and grab it.” He said as he started to drive down the roads. “I know you wanna play the good guy here, but these people work for us. Remember that.”
You stared out the window, not bothering to hold back the way you rolled your eyes. He had this talk with you everytime. Every-fucking-time.
“You don’t gotta worry about Rick or none of his people. They came into our outpost, killed our men, so don’t go feelin’ all bad for ‘em.” He continued. “They would’ve killed you had you been there. No mercy”
You gave a short hum in response, not really bothering to absorb anything he said. The times in which he would remind you of the sadist he turned into were the worst, it always dampened the image of him you were trying to preserve.
Pulling up to the walls was almost magical, the doors opened as the vehicles strolled in. You found yourself glancing out the windows, looking at the array of displeased faces.
Stepping out of the car, it was like taking a step back into the old world. Beautiful homes packed in neat rows, mowed lawns, and white picket fences. It was a dream. It was almost as if everything around you paused, you could close your eyes and pretend.
Pretend that your mom was still alive.
Pretend that the flesh-eating monsters around you didn’t exist.
Pretend that your dad hadn’t turned into a monster himself.
As the Saviors broke off, you decided to go as well. It was either that or witness your father terrorize and taunt Rick once more.
Hard pass.
You zoned out more and more with each step, the air feeling a bit fresher than it usually does—but that was probably in your head. Glancing up at the buildings, you decided to follow the sidewalk up to one of them.
The large doors softly creaked as you opened them, the smell of old wood filled your senses. It looked to be an old church.
Your fingers brushed over dusty, wooden benches; feet gently tapping against the wooden floors as you made your way up to the front. An old, beautiful piano sat there, almost as if it were waiting for you.
A small smile grazed your face, the first genuine smile you had expressed in so long. Music was always your passion growing up, it was an art that transcended so many boundaries. Language, culture, societies.
That was the beauty of it.
You sat down on the bench, fingers lighting glossing over each key before gently pressing down. It was a bit out of tune, yet you smiled.
You closed your eyes as you began to play a soft melody to yourself, losing yourself in the music. All these memories from the world before flooded back to you, memories you had tucked away that reappeared from just a few notes.
If you imagined hard enough, you could hear your mother’s voice beside you as she taught you to play, the nostalgic smell of her perfume surrounding you. The only thing missing was the warmth and safety she brought you.
You became so lost that you hadn’t heard the door open—that is, until a bellowing boom echoed against the walls as it shut.
The keys hissed as you jumped, your elbow landing on the keyboard.
It was him.
He looked at you with the same irritation that he had the night you both met. Who knew a single eye could hold so much emotion?
“Are you planning to take that from us, too?” He asked, a hint of annoyance in his voice as he stalked toward you. “Might as well, right? Your dad is taking everything else from us.”
You exhaled a shaky breath as you fixed your posture, shaking your head. “No, I– I just wanted to play.”
“That’s bullshit.” He muttered beneath his breath.
He had confidence in his stance, not fearing you in the slightest. It honestly intimidated you a bit.
“I’m not taking it.” You repeated, looking at him seriously. “It’s out of tune anyway.”
There was a silence between the two of you. He obviously had his guard up—and rightfully so. He didn’t seem very trusting when it came to you.
“Where’s Daryl?” He suddenly asked.
Figures he would ask that, who wouldn’t?
“Alive.” You replied.
“That’s not what I asked.” He sneered.
You clenched your jaw, glancing back down at the piano keys. Was this it? Did you risk everything for the sake of your humanity? Or do you ignore—or even lie to him?
“I know,” You replied, looking back up at him once more. “But there’s only so much I can say before I get in trouble.”
He let out a breath, looking at the piano before looking back at you. He seemingly gave up on you, turning away as he started to walk.
“His conditions aren’t great. He’s locked up.” You blurt, swallowing a ball of pride and anxiety. “They keep him in a cell, naked. He’s also not fed much.”
Carl freezes, he doesn’t turn back to you quite yet, letting the information process. He’s not even sure you’re telling the truth. Hell, for all he knew, you could be lying right now just to get him worked up.
“He’s not allowed to do anything aside from sit in there, engulfed in darkness.” You rambled, “My dad has Dwight play the same song on loop for hours on end to keep him from sleeping for too long.”
He finally turned to face you, still not uttering a word as he tried to keep a stoic facade.
“It’s one of the forms of torture at the Sanctuary. By not letting him complete his REM sleep functions, he goes through psychological distress.” You explained as you met his gaze. “The song is fucking awful too. Dwight blasts it on the speakers.”
Carl stood stationary, just looking at you like he couldn’t believe what you were saying. “How do I know you’re telling the truth?”
“It’s not like I gain anything by lying about his conditions.” You shrug.
He processed your words, you could already see the plans forming in his head just by looking at him.
“He’ll be let out eventually, but only to do physical labor.” You said. “My dad wants him to climb the ranks and become a Savior, which I know won’t happen. I just feel it’s worth mentioning, so if you’re worried about him dying, I wouldn’t count on it.”
“Right.” He muttered.
You chewed on your bottom lip as you slightly nodded, turning back to the piano.
“You play well.” He said beneath his breath before he left the church.
You smiled softly to yourself as you looked down at the keys, mindlessly tapping at a few of them as you recited the interaction in your head.
If you're willing to, could you write something for chishiya x reader?
Was thinking about something like, after a game, before going back to the beach, they pass by a museum and reader wants to go in. Not sure what museums there are in shibuya so let's pretend they find a dinosaur museum, and reader was obsessed with dinosaura when she was a kid, so she starts to ramble and get overexcited about everything there, like a child at a candy shop, and Chishiya is Just there thinking "really? With each step taken, gravel crunched beneath your shoes. Your muscles were tired and your brain was foggy with exhaustion, not that it was out of the ordinary in a place like this.
You and Chishiya walked beside each other, he kept his cool demeanor while you practically trudged with every step you took. Tonight was a seven of spades, and while Chishiya usually let the work be done for him, you always jumped right into the middle of it. He often called you stupid for it, seeing zero point in exhausting yourself when some other idiot would eventually take the brunt of it.
In his case, the idiot was you.
“God, it’s so hot out here.” You groaned, wiping sweat from your neck. “Can I just lay down for a second?”
Chishiya didn’t look at you, his stoic gaze looking at the street before him. “You can, but I won’t wait for you.”
You rolled your eyes at his attitude. “You should, I’m the reason we got out of there. I think you owe it to me as a ‘thank you’.”
Chishiya didn’t argue against you because you were right. No matter how foolish it was, you had fought at the front of it and managed to get the both of you, and even some others, out with time to spare. Even so, he didn’t “owe” anyone anything. The only reason he puts up with your shit is because you’re useful enough to keep around.
“Oh, my god! No way!” Your excited voice tore right through his train of thought, looking over in your direction.
His gaze followed yours, your flashlight lighting up a giant building.
National Museum of Nature and Science
“I told you a flashlight would be useful.” You grinned, turning to him as you shone it in his face as you playfully hit him.
“It’s not,” He said, covering the flashlight with his hand as he pushed it down a bit. “We need to get back to the Beach.”
You watched him start walking again, his hands in his pockets. He didn’t even glance back at you.
“Hatter won’t know.” You argued, shining the flashlight on the back of his head. “Just for a minute.”
Chishiya squinted at the light as he turned around and looked at you. Really, it was pointless. All you guys had to do was go play a game, win, and head back to the Beach, not make a million stops to do things that brought no benefit to the plan.
“It’s not a necessity.” He replied, bluntly.
“You have such a stick up your ass, it’s not like I’m asking to go to a strip club, it’s a museum.” You said, raising a brow at him as you bared an annoyed look. “I figured a guy like you would be into science.”
He watched as you turned to go off on your own, not checking to see if he’d follow. He exhaled through his nose as you went into the building, a bit agitated because he found himself wanting to follow you. He figured a person like you wouldn’t be into science.

As you entered the museum, you waved the flashlight about, looking for signs and other things around. You walked around, holding your flashlight up to numerous structures and exhibits. Really though, you were set out for the dinosaur exhibit.
You hadn’t been to it since you were a child, never finding the time to be able to go again. Except now you found yourself asking, if not now, when?
As you turned a corner in the dark building, you felt someone grab your shoulder from behind. You swiftly moved away as you let out a scream, shining the light into Chishiya’s face yet again.
Breathing heavily, you furrowed your eyebrows at him. “The hell is wrong with you? You scared the shit out of me.”
“You said that I owe you.” He replied, pushing the flashlight away.
You let your hand fall to your side, letting the moonlight from the windows illuminate his face. “Yeah, well, you should’ve said something, I thought I was here alone.”
Chishiya didn’t respond as you went back to walking, glancing at each sign to find the right place to go.
“They’ve really changed this up since I was a kid.” You mumbled, looking over at him. “Did you ever go here when you were younger?”
“No,” He responded.
“Really? I thought smart kids hung out here.” You said as you walked. “Because it’s all nerdy and stuff.”
“You went here as a kid.” He said, emphasizing it.
“Yeah?” You quirked an eyebrow, confused as to why he repeated it.
He just sighed, exhaling softly through his nose. You had to be one of the dumbest people he knew, only second to Niragi.
He stayed silent as he followed you around, all your mindless rambles going in one ear and out the other. Meanwhile, Chishiya was trying to figure out why he even bothered. One half of him was saying that he had to stay because you didn’t know your way back to the Beach. The other half of him knew the first half was lying.
So, why was he here? He certainly knew he didn’t owe you anything, that wasn’t up for debate. Could it be that he simply wanted to be here? Around the science, I mean.
Not you.
“I found it! God, finally. I feel like this place runs for miles.” You sighed in relief, turning back to him. “This time tell me if you’re going to follow.”
Chishiya walked in, glancing up at numerous dinosaur skeletons, each being briefly lit up by you. He just watched the back of your head as you looked around, his own thoughts running wild.
“Ah, this is an Argentinosaurus. You’ll never guess which country it was found in.” You murmured, glancing over at him. “It was found in Argentina, by the way.”
He knew that, of course he did. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out where the Argentinosaurus was found.
“They’re the largest known land animal of all time, they weighed like—one-hundred-ten tons.” You rambled. “It’s also the longest dinosaur we know of. If you put four fire engines back-to-back, that’s how big it was. Can you even imagine that?”
Chishiya didn’t show it on his face, but your knowledge made him curious. How was it that you seemed like an airhead in any other situation, yet you know all of this?
He watched the moon illuminate your face as you spoke, you paid him no mind as you looked up at the fossil. Your eyes were always so bright, your voice was so infectious, he never understood it. If anything, he was a little jealous. And bothered. This light you carried was like a disease, he could never be around you for too long before he noticed the way you disrupted his thoughts, kinda like…right now.
“Honestly, a lot of dinosaurs were more like birds, a lot of bird species we have today evolved from species that existed with the dinosaurs!” You said, finally looking away from him and smiling.
When you turned to him, you realized he had already been looking at you, losing your train of thought.
Chishiya looked back at you, his hands in his pockets as he stared. “I take it you liked dinosaurs as a kid.”
His reply was blunt, a statement. It wasn’t cold, he was just observing like he always did.
You slowly nodded, “Yeah, I actually really like this type of science, y’know? Evolution of the planet and species. Pangea, Neanderthals, pre-historic animals.”
“Neanderthals were pre-historic animals.” He replied.
“No, they were human.” You said, meeting his gaze. “Like us.”
Chishiya just raised his eyebrows in response, giving a short nod to acknowledge your words. You walked farther into the room, him following a few steps behind you.
“I don’t think they have a Stegosaurus but they were the dumbest dinosaurs. Their brain was the size of a walnut!” You grinned, looking back at him as you walked. “Reminds me of Niragi.”
Chishiya felt his lips slightly tug a bit, a small huff of air coming from him.
“I think the reason dinosaurs are so big is their bone structure, wide hips, upright posture, and unique foot structures. Their bones also had little air sacs in them which made it possible for them to breathe during inhalation and exhalation.”
He felt it. The awe in his eyes as he looked at you speak.
To anyone else, the emotion would be invisible, but he could feel it in the way he stared. You were beautiful. You were a puzzle. You were a disturbance.
But it was like in that moment, he loved it, this whole time. He loved the way you got under his skin, the way you spoke about nothing and everything, the way you treated him like someone. Like a friend. Like he was deserving of it.
The feeling made him uneasy, but the smile on your face and passion in your eyes grounded him.
Love?
“You’re so quiet.” You commented.
He blinked, looking at you. “You talk enough for the both of us.”
“I know, I didn’t say it was bad, though. I like it.” You said, wandering around. “We’re like a yin-yang thing, yeah?”
“Sure.” He replied, nodding to you. “Yin-yang.”
You sighed, shining the flashlight toward him, not in his eyes this time. “We can go back to the Beach now, I don’t need Hatter jumping my ass.”
“Lead the way,” Chishiya said as you both walked out of the building.
You stepped out, turning off the flashlight as you set for the Beach.
“Wrong way,” Chishiya called out, glancing back as you walked in the opposite direction. “We just came from there.”
You turned around, jogging back to catch up with him. “Oops.”

You were a more reserved girl, you always have been. You shared your thoughts and feelings through brushstrokes and pencil lines rather than words. Maybe that’s why you ended up with the life you had, a failed artist who was living in her car before a mysterious man invited you to play games for money.
You graciously accepted at the time, though looking back, you definitely regret it now. In fact, you’d do anything to go back to living in your beat up Toyota, selling paintings wherever you could. You’d prefer to be anywhere but where you are right now.
The man who recruited you made it sound easy enough, you win money for playing children’s games. That was what he said, wasn’t it? Maybe he had slapped you one too many times and you missed the part about the murder, blood, and death.
When Player 456 started shouting warnings to everyone, you brushed him off as crazy, some cheating asshole who wanted the money for himself. Turns out, you should’ve listened the first time, been more careful, because now here you were, blood on your face as the girl in front of your dropped to the ground.
After the "game", you sat on one of the bunks, the thin mattress squeaking beneath you. You sighed to yourself as you wiped your face with your sleeve, seeing dried blood come off your skin. Swallowing a gag, you instead turn your attention to the meal in your lap, eating hungrily to get your mind off of this circus.
As you ate, you glanced up, seeing a man looking at you with an odd look in his eye. It wasn’t sinister, no, just…odd. Maybe it was because you knew how to analyze human expression that you could see through his mask, he looked a bit shocked to see you, as if you were old friends.
You glanced down. Player 001.
You looked away as he continued to stare, going back to eating your food in solitude. Your mind went back to the money, what things you could do with it. Buy a house, get a newer car, serve yourself decent meals rather than a shitty ramen cup.
In-ho felt a wave of familiarity mixed with a pit in his stomach as he looked at you, you looked just like her. You could be her twin. He figured maybe it was a figment of his imagination, maybe he was just too far away to get a good look and his brain was simply filling in the gaps.
Stepping away from his newfound group, he excused himself politely as he walked over to you. You were so immersed in your meal that you hadn’t glanced up at him, giving him time to look at your features. Your hair, your eye shape, the tip of your nose, and the fullness of your lips were all too familiar to him.
Eventually you looked up completely, swallowing your food before speaking. “Can I help you?” You asked, softly.
In-ho blinked, his face adorned with a friendly smile as he chuckled. “You have a little something on your face.” He motioned, commenting on the sticky, red liquid dried to your cheekbones. “They have a restroom here, I thought I should let you know. I can’t imagine how I’d feel in your position.”
You nodded, timidly, “Thank you.”
He let out a breath as he nodded. “Of course.” His smile faded a bit. “You seem a bit out of it. Are you sure you’ll be alright?”
You hesitated for a moment, looking down and shrugging. “This is just…I’m not quite sure what to make of it.” You replied, setting the last of your food to the side, suddenly not hungry anymore.
In-ho slid in next to you, the mattress creaking beneath his weight. “I understand. These games are not quite as advertised.” He chuckled. “It’s a shame a young lady such as yourself has to experience this.”
“It’s a shame any of us do, it’s inhumane.” You mumbled, playing with your hands in your lap.
He watched you nervously fidget, his hand twitching to reach out for yours before he stopped himself. You weren’t his wife. You were just some girl who happened to look like her, exactly like her, and he was pleading with his brain to stop confusing him.
“My name is Oh Young-il,” He told you, reaching a hand toward you to shake.
When your hand shakily gripped his, he could feel the softness of your skin beneath his fingertips, the warmth of the blood still in your body. He masked his disappointment when you slid your hand out from his grip. “I’m Y/N.”
“Y/N,” He repeated softly, engraving it into every fold of his brain. “Beautiful name.”
You shyly smiled, trying his name out on your own lips. “Thank you…Young-il.”
He held back a frown, he didn’t want to hear that alias, that lie from your lips. He cleared his throat. “I think you should get washed up then, hm?”
You nodded, thanking him again as you spotted the bathroom. Stepping inside, you looked at just how much blood was on your face. Gagging once again as the recent memory resurfaced, you cupped your hands and waited for the water to fill them before drinking. You breathed heavily, in and out as you then splashed the water onto your face, scrubbing mercilessly at your skin with the thin paper towels. You looked back up to the mirror, your eyes welling up a bit as you sniffled. You were gonna be fine, you’d get out of whatever hellhole this is and you’d make it big. Your art, your name. You were gonna be somebody after you survived this.
You left the bathroom, looking around at the other players before settling back to your bunk. Still, you could feel eyes on you, even once the lights went out.

When you walked into the second game, your stomach churned. The childish set felt like a taunt as the rules were explained. A team-based game. As everyone scrambled into teams, you stood frozen in your place. You weren’t outgoing enough for this, you never had been. You just stood there as everyone got acquainted, no one sparing you a second glance as they passed you by.
A tug on your sleeve snapped you from your daze, looking over to see him again with a group of men behind him. “We need one more player,” Young-il said, a silent plea for you to join their group.
You opened your mouth to reply when another voice spoke up. “Excuse me? Can I be in your group?” The woman asked, putting a hand over her stomach, “I’m pregnant.”
You all looked down at her stomach as an exhale left your lips. You looked back up at Young-il, “Thank you, but I’ll be fine.” You turned to the woman, swallowing before speaking. “You’re in luck, they needed just one more player.”
In-ho couldn’t deny the disappointment and worry he felt watching you slip from his grasp. How was he supposed to ensure your safety this way? What if you were left to partner up with a group of morons who got you killed? What if he had to watch the light drain from the same face twice? He shook his head, curtly reminding himself that he didn’t know you, he had no attachment to you. Nothing about you was familiar except your appearance.
Your group was one of the first to go up, partnering with two women, and a mom with her son. You took a deep breath as you all walked down the track, arms linked. Your game was spinning top, wrapping the rope around hastily before tossing it to the group and letting it spin. The seconds counted down, no one watching the clock more sternly than In-ho.
00:03
00:02
00:01
Only when cheered erupted was it that he realized you all passed. You passed. For some strange reason, he felt relief that somebody survived the game he created. Not for the purpose of entertainment or another sick motive, but genuine relief.
You waited in the bunker as surviving players filed in, you didn’t notice it, but you were waiting for Young-il. You tried to distract yourself, keep company with the newfound group you had. Still, everytime that door opened, you glanced over in hopes of seeing his face.
Learning the names of your peers, Hyun-ju, Young-mi, Yong-sik, and his mother, Geum-ja. You all talked about your reasons for being here, the lives you’ve lived and what you hoped for in the future.
When the door opened once again, you looked over. Letting out a small sigh of relief as you saw his kind eyes, your hand shyly reaching up to give a small wave to him. He walked over toward you as you stepped away from your own group. “I was worried you guys weren’t gonna make it.” You confided, honestly.
He chuckled, looking down at you as he spoke. “I thought the same for you, crossing that line last second.” He breathed, gently touching your arm as his smile turned into more of a frown. “You should’ve stayed with us. I was going to help you.”
“I made it, didn’t I?” You replied, fidgeting with your hands again.
“Barely.” He quickly replied, his tone a bit sharp. He gripped your arm a bit tighter, quickly letting go once he calmed himself down. “Sorry, let’s just be glad we both made it.”
You nodded, looking down at his tracksuit and seeing the blue O. “You’re gonna vote to go home now, right?”
He smiled once again, letting out a soft huff of laughter as he nodded. “Of course, we’re going to go home now.” He licked his bottom lip as he thought to himself. “Why don’t you come sit with my group tonight? Gi-hun always has one of us on watch during the night to keep the rest of us safe while we sleep. Wouldn’t you be better there rather than all by yourself?”
You contemplated his offer before ultimately agreeing. His group welcomed you with open arms, the pregnant woman from earlier, Jun-hee, thanking you for switching places with her. You nodded, conversing with the small team until voting came.
You listened to the voice read out the numbers of each surviving player, waiting anxiously like everyone else who wished to leave.
“Player 132!” The voice rang, you slowly walked up to the buttons, pressing the big X with no hesitation. You walked over to the X side, standing beside Gi-hun and the others while it commenced.
Except things weren’t looking too good and by the end of it, it seemed the odds weren’t in your favor as the games were voted to continue. Your throat burned as you swallowed thick tears, disappointment seemed to be an emotion you were becoming familiar with by now.
In-ho watched the look on your face, following behind you as a hand landed on your lower back. To him, you were almost like a scared, little fawn, something that needed protected. That’s what he told himself, it was just instinctual to protect someone so vulnerable, no other reason.
“I know you’re worried,” He spoke. “But, you made it through the last game, I’m sure the next one won’t be too hard. They’re just children’s games at the end of the day.”
You sat down on the bed beside him, wiping away tears before they had a chance to fall. Nodding along to whatever it was he was saying, trying to feel some sort of calm in this current. “But…” You croaked, your voice thick with tears and despair. “It’s not just about me, I don’t want to keep watching people die, not like this. We aren't animals, we're people.”
In-ho sighed, nodding in understanding. “I know, but you need to focus on keeping yourself alive first. The others here will be watching their backs and you need to watch yours.” He told you, his hand still gently rubbing your back.
“Aren’t you scared?” Your voice wobbled with the question.
In-ho simply shook his head, “I know we’ll make it through. You should trust me more, Y/N.” He said, slightly nudging you to walk over toward the beds, sitting down with your meals.
As you ate, you sat beside a man named Dae-ho. Although, you couldn’t help but notice Young-il glance your way every so often, even coming over to offer you a bit of his food.
Gi-hun had explained to you how they orchestrated during the nighttime. When it came time to lay down, you found yourself unable to fall asleep. Not because of Jung-bae snoring near you or the discomfort of the thin blanket, but because your brain just simply wouldn't shut off.
You weren't sure how long you waited awake before you eventually sat up, getting off of the bed slowly. You took a few steps, seeing Young-il on watch.
In-ho had taken the silence of the night to think to himself, about you, what to do. On one hand, he felt disturbed and guilty, treating you like his late-wife rather than your own person. On the other, he was blinded by nostalgia and grief, you brought back something (or rather someone) he tried to bury in the back of his mind.
He knew you had been awake this whole time because he had glanced toward you a few times, seeing the uneven breaths or watching you adjust the blanket. Never once did you look at peace. So, he wasn't surprised when you sat beside him, just glancing over at your pretty face.
“I couldn't sleep.” You whispered to him, rubbing your arms for warmth. “I’m too worried. For everyone.”
In-ho rubbed your back again, his hand gentle and leaving warmth in its wake. “You're in our group now, and here we all work together. You're going to be okay.”
“Will you?” You asked, looking up at him. You noticed whenever you looked at him, you could see that same emotion behind his gaze. It wasn't malicious, it was soft, it was loving. Why would he look at you like that? Not even the most empathetic of people have that look in their eye, it breached the simple look of alliance.
You brushed it off. You were thinking far too much, far too late into the night.
“I will, we all will. That's what matters, isn't it?” He spoke, his voice deep, yet soft. He could hear it in his own tone, he could feel it in his own gaze. Nobody had to tell him, he already felt it.
You nodded slowly, looking out at the room. His hand was still on your back, you could've shivered from the touch. The look in his eye though, you couldn't shake it. You could read the emotion behind it so deeply, that was your job, wasn't it? You read people, studied emotions and brought them to life and never once had it bothered you. So, why was this bothering you so much?
“Young-il…” You whispered, looking down at your lap. “Why do you…always look at me like that? I saw it…even before we had spoken to each other, I can always feel it.”
In-ho took a deep breath, looking away from you and out at the sleeping players. He removed his hand from your back, a certain coldness returning to where he had once been. “You just…look like someone I know.”
You cracked a small smile, whispering as you attempted a joke. “Do I look like your girlfriend?”
“No.” He replied, clasping his hands together, gently. “My…late wife.”
Your smile faded, “Oh.” You cursed yourself, licking your dry lips. You felt awkward, nervously swallowing as a heavy silence set over you. “I-I’m sorry.”
In-ho looked over at you again, shaking his head with a somber smile. “You don't need to be. It's been almost ten years.”
“I still am. You're never really free from grief.” You mumbled. “Is that your debt? Hospital bills or…?”
He glanced at you, his eyes warm. “Sure.” He replied, “Hospital bills would make the most sense, hm?”
The way he worded it made it sound made up, like he was letting you infer what you pleased and let you be right. However, you were too tired to care, too in your own head to acknowledge the oddness of it.
“Just don't mention it to anyone, alright sweetheart?” He asked. You nodded along slowly. “So, why is it that you're here?”
“Um,” You hummed, clearing your throat. “I'm an artist. But, it's kinda hard to take off, I haven't made much.”
“Really?” He softly smiled, looking at you with genuine intrigue. “You any good?”
“I like to think so.” You replied, fidgeting with your hands. “Art is always the best when it comes from the heart, and mine is pretty sensitive. I think with my heart…I think a lot in general. About emotion and ways to convey it.”
In-ho hummed, his voice as sweet as honey. “You'll have to show me when we get out, okay?” He asked as he casually put a hand on your thigh.
His eyes looked for any disapproval from you, seeing as there was none, he kept it there. You couldn't deny you did in fact feel a little guilty after learning he did have a wife, even if she wasn't here anymore. But you couldn't control the heat in your body when he put his hands on your clothed skin.
“I will,” You agreed. “Maybe I could make something for you.”
He hummed, “Maybe you could.” He squeezed your thigh, the action sending heat through you.
“You know, I thought you were mad at me after the last game.” You mumbled, looking up at him.
His face contorted into a look of concern, or even guilt. Mad? At you of all people? If anything, you had done the right thing, giving up a strong team to help a pregnant woman instead. His hand moved up to your face, cupping your cheek gently.
“No, I wasn't upset with you. I was just worried.” He murmured, his thumb brushing soft strokes on your face. “You made it at the last second, I was just worked up.”
You felt yourself lean into his touch, it wasn't like you meant to do it. Really, you weren't even sure why you were acting like this. You just met him, you've barely had any conversation with him and yet, here you were.
Not for a second did In-ho miss your reaction to his touch, everything about you was just so gentle. Everything about you was so opposite of anything he could be.
In-ho was having similar, plaguing thoughts. Why was he acting like this? Years of suppressed emotion were surfacing once again and for once, he couldn't stop it. His humanity had disappeared long ago, he was unforgiving, merciless, these people were his pawns. Now here you are, picking his plan apart piece by piece with each glance you shot his way. He had to remind himself, he didn't join these games out of empathy or sympathy, he joined to keep an eye on Gi-hun. And yet, he felt himself slipping, the differences in In-ho and Young-il were getting lost in translation. He wanted to slap himself, that would snap him out of it. For God’s sake, he was the Frontman, the ringleader of the very games that have you scared shitless. He wondered how you’d react when he told you. You'd probably scream at him, look at him with disgust. You'd probably cry.
He knew he'd have to tell you once you survived the games, it's the only way he could keep you with him.
Oh, and you were surviving. He'd make sure of it.
In-ho let out a sigh, blinking his thoughts away as he gave you a soft smile. “On another note, you should rest. You’ll need to be ready for tomorrow’s game.”
“Shouldn't you sleep too?” You asked, not entirely sure how long he's been on watch.
“I will, Gi-hun takes over soon.” He said, whispering in your ear. “Go to bed, sweetheart.”
You nodded, inhaling slowly to calm your nerves. “Goodnight, Young-il.”
With one last glance, you headed back to your bed. After talking with Young-il, you felt more comfortable, your mind felt clear. Though, maybe that was because your thoughts went from worries of the next game to his face. The way he spoke to you, touched you. As if it were the most casual thing to him.
After Gi-hun and In-ho switched places, he walked past your bed, looking down at your sleeping face. In-ho glanced back at Gi-hun, checking that he was paying no mind to him as he pressed a soft kiss to your forehead.
Staring down at you once again, it seemed for a minute, his wife never died. That he was right back where he was a decade ago, his heart free of grief and troubles.
