Hestia
Hestia is the Greek Goddess of the hearth, home, architecture, the state, and family. She’s also one of the virgin Goddesses who is seen as a protector deity. Legend says that she was originally one of The Big Twelve (or the Olympians, or the council) but she stepped down to keep the peace on Olympus when Dionysus showed up.
General: hearth, home, living flame, architecture, bowl, veils, pantry, keys, pictures of houses you’ve lived in/cool architecture you like, family (chosen family counts) and ancestor stuff
Animals: donkey (ass) and pigs
Plants: Angel’s trumpet (Datura), California poppy, goldenrod, hollyhock, purple coneflower, and yarrow
Perfumes/Scents: angelica, iris, lavender, and peony
Gems and Metals: amethyst, garnet, gold, silver, and brass
Colors: gold, dark rose, lavender, silver, and black
Things To Pray For: protection, inspiration, happiness, guidance, and help getting rid of the home of negative entities
Invocation of Hestia Hail Hestia, Ancient heart Mother Goddess of the Spiritual Flame, We thank you for your constant love and care. We ask that you come and dwell here. Make of our home your home. Make of our hearth your hearth. Make of our temple your temple. Make of our hearts one heart, your heat. Hail Hestia!
Prayer To Hestia Blessed Lady of the Hearth Keeper of the sacred flames of Olympus Enter this home and make it your own Enter and be welcome Bless all who enter here with peace Bless all who dwell here with your protection Grant me and mine your protection That we may always find our way to you
Personal Experience: I have limited experience with Hestia as I haven’t really started practicing with her yet. But the experiences I have had have all been really positive and easy going.
Ways To Worship Poseidon When You’re Landlocked and Can’t Swim
Written by someone who is both landlocked and can’t swim.
Horses! Learn about them, find someone who likes horses and ask about them. Maybe even ride one if you can.
Learn about earthquakes and geology.
Take care of plants that need a lot of water, like marimo balls or other water plants.
Watch movies about horses or the ocean (my favorites are: Spirit, Finding Nemo, Little Mermaid, Muppet Treasure Island, Master and Commander, the Hornblower series, and the first 3 Pirates of the Caribbean movies)
Read books, fiction or nonfiction.
Listen to sea shanties
Documentaries!
Stay hydrated
Take long baths or showers, enjoy the water.
Take care of your local environment
Learn about island nations and their cultures and histories
And many other things I haven’t thought of. Feel free to add on!
Mythological Zeus and theological Zeus are such different things. Talking shit about worshipping the God of Gods just using the myths - which are the equivalent of folklore and do not necessairly hold religious value - and neglecting the whole context, religious hymns and epithets who characterize Him is just...wrong.

To the first flame, soothing wave warming cold veins into delight, smokeless fire caressing skins and hearts alike, I surrender. - Hestia
To the fighter, ever-armed, living and dying in countless battles, giving their names to his scares, the names of future hopes, spear swirling on a blood painted soulnight, I surrender. - Ares
To the path, opening before us, carrying ourselves, a liquid trail, wind on our tail, rock-solid stream, blowing on our back, for we are the arrows in the hands of the world, I surrender. - Artemis
To the shaper, eyes closed, weaving invisible threads into the air, playing by nose and ears, so that colors may be touched by the blinds, I surrender. - Hephaestus
To desire, absolute, drawing endless longing, whispering tales in river-talk, darkening heads to turn eyes towards inner stars, I surrender. - Hera
To the raging force hurling us forward, the tidal wave beneath our feet, switching small leaps to surging breaks, crashing down the ice, I surrender. - Poseidon
To the holy one, turning soils into forests and winds to mills, elevated hands we hold to unite with ourselves, an unflawed core of trust, I surrender. - Athena
To beauty, the one true pull, unfolding mind to body, body to soul, warmest kiss to the heart, yet radiant, I surrender. - Aphrodite
To the hand from afar, watching us grow, touching the skies and turning our heads to the cloudless sight of our purpose and self, I surrender. - Apollon
To the one breathing movement, pure motion blurring the frontiers between worlds and truth, bridge among all that is, I surrender. - Hermes
To all that is, all-engulfing, dissolving love. Sparks becomes music, prayers thunders in unheard colors, and I surrender. - Zeus
To the seed, back again, and again; winter-sheathed, blood-springs thawing from her heart, trees blazing from new wounds, I surrender. - Demeter/Persephone
“Being brave doesn’t mean you aren’t scared. Being brave means you are scared, really scared, badly scared, and you do the right thing anyway.”
— Neil Gaiman, Coraline
Ways to Get Messages From Deities
Gut feeling
Shivers down your back
See a flash of an image in your mind
Hear a positive voice with a brief message
Smell something
An earth angel directly delivers the information to you
You find yourself giving advice to another person, and realize that is the advice you needed to hear
Déjà vu
A series of unmistakable repeating symbols or signs
Hades will see a gay person with a shitty dad and go “Is no one gonna adopt them?” And then Not Wait for an answer.

Lord Ares be with them, these protesters as they are pushed to riot. Give them the strength and passion they need, the will power they must maintain, so that they may make a change. Shield their eyes from bullets of rubber and balls of paint and cans of gas. Shield their bodies from violent attacks. Be with the medics and reporters and innocent passerby, protect them from unprompted police brutality. Shield those who need it now, and give them the strength of your fury so that they may harness it and use it to make a change.
I Call To The Sisters Of Spilled Blood
First to the Furies of old I call,
Friends of the oppressed
Goddesses of justice
Of last resort.
Tisiphone, I call to you, voice of revenge
Speak aloud the names of the victims.
Rage maddened goddess of venom,
In dress as blood stained as our streets.
Come take this pain from out our hearts
And place it into our enemies.
Alecto, I call, eternal and implacable your justice.
Cut down the petty tyrants who have placed
Their violence above your immortal realm.
Our community is broken beneath their hubris.
Take now this outrage from off my mind
Let it crush them with the horror on their hands.
Mageara, I call now to you, Goddess
Who balances the scales. Who sees
The ‘haves’ with their boots pressed
Upon the throats of the ‘have-nots’.
Right this wrong, take back the power
Stolen by corruption and crimes made laws.
Return it to it’s place with the people.
Erinyes I call to you all
Because our courts have
Failed us, and man’s justice
Has again failed. Again and
Again it has failed. Poisoned
It lies, sick and dying. Only
With fever and fire will it get well.
Purge it from our system; the
Murderers, the poisoners of public
Trust. Oathbreakers are they who
Protect injustice and serve only
Themselves.
I call to you to curse them all.
Let no soul provide them shelter
Let no heart give them sympathy
Let them be turned from every hearth
Let them be denied at every door Let their evil be seen and
Let it not be accepted anymore
These enemies of the people, these
Monsters with badges and guns.
Who delight in our suffering.
They are no longer accepted.
To the fourth sister I call now.
Who’s bloodshed was quenched by the sea
Aphrodite, the goddess of communities
I call you now. Keep safe our loved ones
When tyrants assail us. Let ties that bind us
Become stronger in this time of strife.
Aphrodite who delights in war.
There are still those Who fight for right.
Hold high your shield and protect them
In the streets, and in their homes, and in
The courts which once were sacred to you.
Aphrodite, goddess who brings comfort. Heal
These wounds, mend the bones, flesh, and hearts
Broken in these trials. Let our cities mend
After the disease is purged from their bodies.
Goddesses of rage, of grudge, and of vengeance
Goddess of community, of war and of love.
Take from us our pain, our anger, our hate.
Take our cry for vengeance, too long denied;
And shove it down their throats. Let our
Wounds be theirs from now on.
We need be rid of them, we
Need be rid of it all,
Before healing can begin.
— Nikolaos Pseudonymous
Damn it google, that's not right.
stop this
Reminder that rejecting / leaving behind organized religion does not excuse you from being descriminitory or having privilege over marginalized religious groups such as Muslim or Jewish folks. You can be pagan or atheist and still be antisemitic. There’s nothing about being pagan or athiest that makes your antisemitic or anti-Islamic behavior any less bigoted.

I pray that Ares give strength to protesters fighting a war for their freedom, that Dike and Themis grant justice for those wronged by the United States and its racist vision, and that Nemesis exact the vengeance of all that is righteous against the police and the white supremacist state.
