James smiles warmly and nods. He begins to take small, slow steps backwards towards the door. The pair slowly made their way to sickbay.
“When we get to sickbay, we’re going to try to figure out how much damage was done to your brain and to your memories.” James attempts to explain simply, “Once we can figure that out we can work on getting them back.”
Kitty continued following James, her steps gradually becoming steadier andquicker. She gave James a distracted nod in response, unsure of what to say.
Most of her attention was divided between examining their surroundings andher own thoughts. She occasionaly glanced at James, quickly looking away.
The two walked in an awkward yet solemn silence until they reached the sickbay doors. Maybe, James thought, Kitty's memory would come back just by seeing the place she's spent so long in. He knew that it probably wouldn't work, but there's always hope.
"Here we are. sickbay. We'll have the other medical officers do some scans and tests so don't worry. They know you pretty well and they won't hurt you at all." he said. "And, uh, if you remember anything, anything at all, just tell me." He took a small step towards the doors and they slid open. He gestured for Kitty to enter ahead of him. Inside, Kitty's medical team stood ready.
"After you" James said.
