Ultimate Princess

Life’s busy and stressful, and my writing mood isn’t the strongest rn, so I sent a dropping request for Sonia Nevermind in. I just wanted to thank everyone I was threading with, because honestly I had a blast as her in the short time I was writing her here. Sonia was someone I always wanted to try to write for, and it was a nice experience so far! That’s why, I also would consider reapping her one day, if I’ll get the mood for writing her back one dayTM. 

    “Not at all. You’re right– Laughing is contagious, too. I might do it a little too much, though.. But that’s irrelevant right now.” She spoke with a smile to Sonia, listening intently to her words. The other girl did seem to give off a dignified aura (a trait Yukiko couldn’t help and appreciate herself). She had never heard of Novoselic before and the fact that the blonde mentioned its possible demise was quite worrying. The thought had occurred for the priestess’s own life, too. She wouldn’t know what she would do if something were to happen to her family’s inn.

    “Did something happen to your kingdom? I certainly hope not. It’s unfortunate you can’t go check on it right now, but.. If you have trust in your friends and family back home, I’m sure everything is just fine.” Those were words she wanted to live by, in any case. Both her own goals with her family and a member of the Investigation Team taught her this. She could relate to Sonia, in that regard. Concern for others was an admirable trait.

    Yukiko lightly bowed towards the other girl (a custom she was used to), nodding her head afterwards. “It’s a pleasure.. Sonia-san.” It did feel odd calling someone she had just met by their first name, but she would respect the other girl’s wishes. “Do you like Japanese culture? I grew up in a small town myself, so it’s what I’m most accustomed to. I’m from a place called Inaba. It’s tiny, but nice.”

“It truly is. And I do not think there’s a ‘too much’ if it is about showing how much you enjoy something!” Really, it filled the blonde royal with a warm feeling. She wasn’t too used to hear people around her laughing like that, but the more she did appreciate things like these. 

But when the topic went back to her kingdom, the smile of the (maybe former) princess faded away. A worried expression appeared and she started to face the ground. “I am afraid that is a longer story to tell. But... the world where I came from, almost completely fell into ruin.” She stopped there before continuing. Mentioning she was one of the people that caused that ruin surely wouldn’t benefit her in this situation. “But I am truly thankful for your comforting words. Maybe there still is hope. But let us change the topic to something more delightful for now!”

    Maki had been referring to the fact that she knew she came off as an unfriendly and cold person (unfitting for the Ultmate Child Caregiver), but it wasn’t worth it to delve into much further– She was never one to enjoy having the topic of conversation solely onto herself. Albeit, she would rather discuss her child caregiver title than her assassin one. It was simpler to explain, in retrospect. “I guess it is. I don’t care much for kids. I couldn’t tell you why they like me. It just happened.” Still, the fact that she had found another ultimate was peculiar. She couldn’t say she was expecting it, let alone someone who wasn’t in the killing game with her.

    “It’s.. strange? What’s odd about that? If there’s another school that scouts talent, I don’t know about it.” She had only learned of her status at the school thanks to the flashback light they were given amidst Ouma’s chaos and Momota’s disappearance. It was because of their student status that motivated them to pursue forward and act as symbols of hope. She wasn’t sure what Sonia was specifically referring to, but perhaps it had something to do with Junko Enoshima or the tragedy. Still.. Even if that were the case, things weren’t lining up correctly. She lowered her gaze in contemplation as she added, “What do you know about Hope’s Peak Academy?”

“You do not care much you say? Yet, you still have been blessed with the skill to be a mother-like figure to them. That is even more impressive! I still think you should be more proud of your talent!” Still, something felt weird even for the sometimes naive princess. Why was Maki avoiding to look her in the eyes when talking about her talent. It was almost as if she would try to hide something from her, but Sonia still moved on to the topic of Hope’s Peak Academy. It seemed more important now. 

“Is there really? How interesting indeed...” She became silent after a while. She knew maybe even too much about Hope’s Peak Academy. Maybe not back then when she attended it, but after graduating (and destroying) it even more. Even the fact that they did shady things as the surgery on one of her classmates Hajime Hinata, to create ‘the perfect student’ she was now aware of. But this wasn’t a story that would be wisely to tell to any stranger. 

Subversion Part 1 Event Info

Sonia isn’t a royal so she will act differently than her usual self. She’s still proud and will try to keep a graceful attitude in most situation, but her speaking pattern will be a little more normal!

She’s still a polite and very friendly girl with good intentions.

She’s studying several languages and works part time in the "Spirale Metro Library“

Her hobbies remained the same. J-Dramas and Serial Killer still are super interesting to her and she also loves anything related to the Occult.

She grew up way less isolated than she did as a princess and has an easier time making friends. So as a result, she will act a little more familiar with anyone than she usually does as well! 

Can finally use slang right (probably)

Co-workers in the library are of course her friends!

Any muses that also takes several classes for different languages are most likely familiar with her too. 

She also has a big heart for animals, so she could be often seen anywhere where fluffy little friends are located as well.  

    Yukiko couldn’t help and start laughing at the lingo being used– A light chuckle turned into a full laugh. “Pfft.. Hahahaha, you’re right. Let’s get this bread, indeed..!” She started giggling to herself for a good solid few minutes. It took her a moment to compose herself (as per her usual chuckle fits), but nonetheless, she was able to do so with an added apology. “Ah, I-I’m sorry. I can’t seem to control my laughter sometimes. And yes.. I am new here. I’m still not very familiar with the area, as regrettable as it is. But.. Servants? I’m sorry for the intrusive question, but are you perhaps from a family of royalty?”

    With a smile and head nod, she felt she would certainly be able to befriend this other girl. Her smile shown quite brightly and the other’s blonde hair seemed rather radiant. “Of course. I was looking for a suspense game, myself. I’ve been fond of ones with puzzles lately, too– An added layer, I suppose. It is very cold out, hm? I have no objections. Let me properly introduce myself, first. My name is Yukiko Amagi. It’s a pleasure to meet you.” That being said, she sustained her smile and bowed to properly greet her new friend.

“Oh, my apologies, did I say something strange? People do say I tend to get some things sometimes wrong. I also must admit, I did not grew up speaking Japanese, so some slangs and quotes still are a little hard to use...” She admitted a little embarrassed, but after a while watching Yukiko laugh like that, she couldn’t help but join her with a soft giggle. 

“Oh please, there is no need for you to be sorry, it is quite nice to laugh about mstakes like that! And everyone does know, that laughing together is benefitical for bonding too!” When Yukiko asked her about her royal status, she nodded as an answer before adding: “Yes, I am the princess of the Kingdom Novoselic, but to be frank with you, I am not quite sure if my kingdom still exists.” Most likely not, but it was not like she had the chance to go check for herself yet, shortly after she woke up from the simulation, she ended up on this island after all...“But please, don’t treat me differently because of that, I truly wish to befriend everyone, there’s no need for any kind of special treatment!”

   They’ve hardly started and she’s already so accommodating and encouraging. His face is practically glowing, and he obediently resolves not to feel discouraged. Truthfully, he’s already learned a lot about being a gentleman and has had plenty of time to practice – before and during his time here – but he always takes the chance to learn more, just in case. It’s still as glorified a concept as ever, in his mind.

He touches his hair and glances down at his feet as Sonia speaks, and he would have answered her question if she hadn’t stopped him. It’s a good thing, too – he’s immediately relieved to know that shoes won’t be a requirement. No one’s actually ever told him whether or not it’s gentlemanly to go barefoot, and frankly he isn’t sure he’d want to know the answer.

As soon as he feels he’s allowed to speak again, he does so. 

“Umm… No, Gonta doesn’t think it’s normal in Japan. All my friends wore shoes. But Gonta didn’t grow up like normal people, either, so he is more comfortable walking around like this! If it isn’t a problem, then that’s very good.” It’s never been an insecurity of his, but he is glad to know he isn’t alone. “So then… tying my hair up. That’s something I can do! I’ve already learned that the suit and the glasses help me look gentlemanly, too.”

“What did I just hear? Is that some of that ‘hot gossip’ the other girls do usually talk about? My, I always wanted to get involved in something like that before! Plese, do say how you grew up, if you did not grew up like other super ‘normal’ folks people, it has to be really interesting!” Again, using slang wasn’t her strength, but hopefully Gonta would not notice that. 

Even though she was a princess, Sonia truly loved things that are different from the norm. Maybe it was because she grew up differently and isolated as a royal herself, and could so relate a lot to that. But another reason was also, because she always was just fascinated by people that were different or even weird in general. That was also the same reason why she was so passionate about some serial killers as well, even though it probably was not the most fitting thing to like for her status.

But still, after a while she wanted to get herself togethe againr and tried her best to present herself more serious again.

    Maki never had any issues with spending time by herself. Although the Christmas decor sought to add a certain air to the city, the girl merely shrugged it off. The orphanage she was at prior had acknowledged the holiday, however, that was in the past. Upon hearing the voice of another girl, Maki’s red hues slightly widened. A sweet potato? Admittedly, she was going to reject it. She didn’t need it. Without saying a word, the assassin merely took the potato into her hands and sustained the plain expression on her face.

    “Thanks, I guess,” was her response to the food. Albeit, she was appreciative of being offered it in the first place– Not many people would do such a thing to strangers. Yet, the mentioning of Hope’s Peak Academy caused her face to slightly soften. She was a student there? Well, the title of Ultimate Princess did seem to fit her. Maki took a bite of the sweet potato and uttered her own response to the inquiries: “I’m Maki Harukawa. I had an Ultimate title, too– I was the Ultimate Child Caregiver. Strange, right? It doesn’t matter much now. Although.. I can’t say I was expecting to run into another Ultimate student here like yourself, but whatever.” She certainly wasn’t going to tell Sonia of her true title at the moment. It was simpler to be a child caregiver.

    Still, Maki held some curiosity towards Sonia’s title. She placed the remaining parts of the sweet potato in her lap and interlocked her red hues with the other girl. “So.. A princess? Of where?” Perhaps that sounded too forceful or rude, but nonetheless, it was better to be blunt.

The princess was positively surprised, as soon as Maki mentioned that she also had a talent just like her. “Ultimate Child Caregiver? Why would that be weird? It does sound like a marvelous talent! Showing the children the right path is a very important task, not only for a parent, but also for a ruler like myself as well! It is most definitely a talent that absolutely everyone can benefit from! They do say ‘children are our future’ for a good reason after all!” Sonia didn’t even notice that Maki was talking about her personality being unfitting for her talent. Probably because the blonde would disagree with that and so couldn’t even start assuming it.

“Harukawa-san it is then! It’s truly a pleassure to meet you. Even more now, that I got to know how much alike we already are. I suppose you were a student of Hope’s Peak as well then? But hmm... hat is quite strange... You seem younger than me and well...” Hope’s Peak didn’t exist anymore, it went down after she graduated, and she herself even helped with it’s downfall... But there’s no way she wanted to tell that to a stranger she just met. She had an image as a princess to keep too. Not everyone has to know about the weight of her sins, especially not someone she just met.

   His heart leaps at the mention of ‘friends’ – for once it’s someone else suggesting friendship before he can, and that does nothing but delight him. The anxious excitement inside of him feels like it’s doubling, but he’s doing his best to keep himself tempered. A title is a title, and much like himself, he won’t forget that she’s just a normal person, too.

… But still, that doesn’t mean the prospect of being friends is any less exciting, especially when he’d doubted it.

“O-okay!” he says, bowing his head for just a second.

“Fifteen cultures, wow…” That actually sounds a little overwhelming, but his eyes are sparkling anyway. “Gonta wouldn’t know where to begin with that, but he’s flattered that you think he’s capable. And even though you see Gonta as a gentleman already, he knows there are always more things to learn and practice… So whatever you’d like to teach first, Sonia-san, Gonta will be grateful!”

“That is true. It would perhaps be a little too much to start right into this, but please do not feel discourraged already. We can put it aside and come back to it later, I still truly believe a fine young man like yourself, would be a fast learner indeed!” It was truly delightful to watch how passionate Gonta was about the whole ‘being more gentlemanly’ thing. Even though she really thought, that being a gentleman was mostly tied to being a kind and polite person, rather than knowledge about certain cultures and other things related to that. But she also somehow thought, that this answer wouldn’t be what Gonta wanted to hear just yet. If he wasn’t feeling good enough, maybe she could advise him to take some further steps she knew from the ‘gentlemen’ she met in her past. 

All that Sonia says only leads to more confusion, and just as well, more annoyance. First of all, Togami has no idea what she means by her other classmate; truly he is one of a kind, absolute perfection, and the thought of anyone even coming close to him is laughable. Though he did not know everyone in the class above his, as far as he was concerned none of them resembled him in any way, shape, or form – perhaps her memory truly was failing her then, possibly some disorientation from arriving here in Spirale (not that he had had any, of course). 

However, as mildly insulting as it may be to him, what she says next is what he finds himself dwelling on: something called the Future Foundation, something he’s never heard of before, something he was…apparently a member of. Now, admittedly, he is the one who is disoriented; he has to remember all that Mukuro has told him, about how their world had descended into chaos not too long after he had disappeared. This organization must have resulted from that, then – and if he was a member, then surely he – or rather, the other him, the one that was and was not Byakuya Togami – must have survived Enoshima’s twisted killing game. This realization causes him to internally sigh in relief; though the person Sonia referred to was not him – he refused to acknowledge this other as such – it was comforting to know that no matter what existence he may have, Byakuya Togami was not dead. In this way, he has some closure, though again he never has nor never will experience those terrifying events; at first he makes a mental note to tell Mukuro this, and yet…perhaps he shouldn’t, as he’s not sure how she would feel knowing she hadn’t made it and he had. Now isn’t the time to worry about that, though…

“I have no idea. Quite frankly, I don’t know what this ‘Future Foundation’ even is. I assume it was formed after the mutual killing, then?” By way of explanation, he adds, “I’m from a time before all that, so all I know I’ve heard from Mukuro Ikusaba, and she never said anything about a ‘Future Foundation.’ Regardless, this island is rather strange, but from what she’s told me I’m sure we’re much better off here than in our world.”

Not only Byakuya got really confused by this encounter, Sonia did as well. Who even is this, if he’s not aware of what ‘Future Foundation’ is... How very confusing, did she mistaken him again? No, that couldn’t possibly be. He definitely was the Byakuya Togami she saw back then next to Makoto Naegi and the others. 

“Excuse me, but now you are the one not making any sense to me. You are fom a time before that? My, so what you are trying to say is, that even before we reached this place, we were from two different univeres? That truly is quite confusing, but I do think I slowly am starting to understand...” Even though it gave her a little headache. There were so many unsolved mysteries, not only about their pasts, but about the Island they live in now, too. However, the best thing to do, was not seeking an answer to each one of these questions, at least for now. 

Mira couldn’t help but giggle a bit as Sonia pet Lilith, somewhat amused by her reaction. Lilith was always a great conversation starter, and it was a blessing she was so calm and attention loving. Lilith simply bowed her head in response, allowing herself to be pet.

“Oh, well thank you! That’s incredibly kind of you to say. I think she likes you, hah. Her name is Lilith!”

“Have you been here long, Sonia? I’ve only just arrived here, everything is still…very overwhelming.” She stopped herself from letting a sigh escape, still trying to find the positives in the situation. “There’s many things to explore, though, which I’m enjoying.” With the way Sonia spoke, Mira was definitely getting the feeling this girl was also a noble. Perhaps the two had something in common already.

“Lilith, is it? Truly a wonderful name for such a beautiful creature! I am so honored that she takes a liking to me as well!” Sonia laughed silently and continued to pet the attention loving bird.   

    Yukiko couldn’t help and wander around the Little Tokyo area within the city– The view of the cherry blossoms paralleling the premise held an air of elegance and familiarity to the priestess. The cuisine areas were certainly a lot fancier than the Junes food court, but then again, it wasn’t as if she particularly minded.

    The rather large sign of the electronics store caught the girl’s attention, causing her to walk inside and pick up a ghost game that caught her attention. She had been scanning its cover until a rather pleasant-sounding voice interrupted her line of thought. J-Dramas? She wasn’t too familiar with the store, but honestly, they did sound like they could be interesting.

    “Um, let’s see.. I’ve only been in this store once before, but.. I imagine it can’t be too hard. Let’s look above– There’s signs at each aisle. Why don’t you go check out the drama section? I’ll go with you. I thought I would glance over the suspense games, but it’s no hurry.” With a soft smile, she walked in front of the blonde girl as she led her towards the correct section.

“Only once? My, does that mean you are one of the new citizens as well? I apologize then for questioning you such an intrusive question!” An embarrassed laugh escaped the royal’s lips. The more surprised and pleased she was by the girl’s offer right after that. “You would not mind accopmany me? I am truly grateful to you. Back in my home, I never used to my own shopping, my servants always brought me anything I told them I needed, so I am a little new to this. Very well then, ‘let’s get this bread’!! Excuse me... was that used right? No matter, we shall head to the drama section ‘asap’!”
