“I have always been so stubborn. Whether it’s the graze of my knuckles against the cold concrete or the tenth shot of tequila trickling down and burning the back of my throat. My pride has always been my most cherished part of myself. I never quite learned or understood why people would ever feel the need to swallow it. I can stay angry and silent for as long as I find it suitable to be so. I can’t consciously remember the last time that I gave in to someone first. But then I stumbled across her. Her beauty. Her eyes. Her smile. Her laugh. Her touch. Her kiss. Her heart. And suddenly it hit me. I may have always been stubborn, but one look at her and I realize that my pride is not as important as the words I love you and I am sorry. So I’ve come to the conclusion that that is when you know exactly who you belong with and how much of my heart she truly holds. I would swallow my pride any fight, and time, any day, as long as I always have her.”
