why is this such a popular opinion bro istg i'm jumping. killua might be my fave but people always water down what killua means to gon, and overall forget gon has feelings too... the point is that they're fucking equal dude. they truly love each other. gon might've "saved" killua's life in a way, but there are many important things we need to remember, for both of their characters.
1. killua did it himself first by escaping the zoldycks mansion. 2. even if gon truely had a significantly bigger impact on killua's life than killua had on HIS, it still wouldn't mean he loves killua less. and 3. killua's impact on gon's life is also immense. killua is litteraly the most important person to Gon and i wish people did not dismiss it that way. in caa, gon might've not put "as much effort" into the friendship as killua has, but that is a complex aspect of their relationship. it is partly because killua was always very determined to be useful to gon. he aways thought being useful to gon defined his value as a friend and a person : it is a miscomunication between the two which led into something bigger during the difficult context of caa. it is also partly BECAUSE of the context of caa: which was incredibly hard for gon. he was a grieving kid whom had NEVER grieived before and never had faced death in such a way.
we know gon loves killua deeply since the very beginning of the series, zoldyck family arc is what showed how important killua already was to gon : it wasn't some blind generosity, it was deep true love, no matter if you believe it's platonic or not. it is because of gon's determination to bring killua back, not hesitating to put himself in great danger to do so, that truely marked a shift in their relationship on killua's side. it went from "i want to experience being a normal kid alongside gonbc i'm happy when i'm with him" to "i feel truly loved and important whenever i'm with him and i do not want to leave his side". killua loves gon so deeply bc gon loved killua deeply in the first place.
