it took a hot second for quinn to recognize his former flame, now dressed in tight, provocative clothing that left very little to be desired, and his hair dyed in a bright blue color. granted, taeho’s style had always been a little bit out there, by quinn’s standards, but seeing him now makes it obvious that living under the same roof as quinn’s strict, conservative parents must have really limited his expression of individuality. the younger is just as dumbfounded as taeho when he runs into him. three years had passed since he had broken off all contact with him. not because he wanted to, but because he was beyond terrified of the feelings he had developed for him. it was a dangerous game that they were playing, dating each other in secret. quinn knew that taeho wanted more, but pursuing a real relationship was out of the question. in the end, quinn couldn’t take the other pressuring him to move away with him, so he felt like he had no choice but to end things with him. of course he felt guilty for hurting taeho’s feelings, but compared to telling his parents the truth about his sexuality or ghosting on them, it was still the lesser of two evils. “taeho…” his voice is soft, almost inaudible. as their eyes meet, quinn can feel his heart pounding against his ribcage. his ex-boyfriend’s dramatic reaction doesn’t surprise him, but his words sting nonetheless. the thought of taeho hating him upsets him more than he cares to admit. “i….” his mind draws a blank. conversations about feelings have never been the former jock’s strong suit. “taeho, i…. wait, don’t go!”
