Afire Love

Rebecca returned the hug, biting down on her bottom lip as she did, letting out a soft sigh, nodding in agreement when she suggested hot chocolate, pulling back as she ran her hand through her hair. She didn’t understand everything she was feeling at the moment - it didn’t make sense to her and it scared her. She just wanted things to be normal again. 

Charlotte smiled lightly when Rebecca nodded. The fae worked quickly to pull together two hot chocolates and in no more than five minutes she was handing one to her friend and walking into the living room. Sitting down, she waited quietly for a few seconds. “What’s going on love?”

“Yes, bears” he nodded his head and then paused for a moment. “Okay, you got me there, but you get the point” he laughed “I mean, if it’s not a bear, it’ll be something. Do you want my bat? I got one in the car…–don’t ask me why, but it’ll hopefully scare away any bears that wanna come and eat you..”

Charlotte laughed and nodded. “It might be a half blind guy who can’t drive properly,” she teased. “That’s a really lovely offer but I doubt I’ll be able to actually do any damage with a bat, unless it’s to myself. I’ll probably end up hurting myself,” she laughed. 

“Mhmm whatever you say dirt fairy” he chuckled and shook his head “You don’t like sharing and you deny being rude.. Tut Tut” he smiled, poking her cheek gently “Do i have a bottle of wine?” he asked, chuckling as he stepped closer to her “Oh Charlotte.. Naive little charlotte” he patted her head jokingly “It’s like you don’t know me at all..” 

“There is nothing wrong with not wanting to share!” Charlotte protested playfully, poking his ribcage after he poked her cheek. When he patted her head, she put her hands on her hips and looked up at him, brows raised. “Okay, it was a stupid question. But in my defense you could have like, been all out or something.”

Killian nodded his head “I’m glad I didn’t scare you….or kill you for that matter” he laughed “Are you from the homestead?” he asked before shrugging his shoulders “My bad– ah…okay. There could be bears out here, or like things that can eat you. Be careful if you’re planning on walking home..”

“I’m glad you didn’t kill me either,” Charlotte laughed, her brows raising again. “Bears?” she asked with another soft laugh. “We’re in a secret underground town for supernaturals and you’re worried about bears?”

“My car’s a piece of shit anyway so it’d probably break at the slightest touch” Killian shrugged his shoulders “Yeah, but I could have scared the bejesus outta you” he laughed “Alright, yes, let’s turn the blame on you then. You shouldn’t be out this late. All alone. I wouldn’t have almost hit you if you weren’t” he joked “Do you need a lift somewhere? Or is hopping in a car with a stranger a little too absurd this late at night?” he chuckled.

Charlotte laughed and shook her head. “But you didn’t scare me either so I’m all good,” she smiled, raising a brow and holding up her hands defensively. “Woah- okay I’ll go home then,” she joked before laughing again. “You sounded a lot like my brother just then. What where you doing out so late. I thought you were coming home earlier,” she mimicked. “I don’t need a lift anywhere, I was literally just walking around, but thank you anyway.”

Rebecca smiled gently when she noticed it was Charlotte, grateful that it wasn’t some awkward stranger. “Guess we were both off in our own worlds” she looked over at her. Pausing for a moment when she asked her next question. She couldn’t help but laugh gently “No.. no i really don’t think i am” she admitted 

Charlotte smiled lightly and nodded as she leaned against the bench near the girl, her expression softening as she spoke. At the girls confession, the brunette stepped forward and hugged her, pulling back a few seconds later. “How about we make more hot chocolates then sit down and have a chat?” she asked softly. 

Killian laughed, even though it wasn’t a situation to be laughing in “You sure? Another meter and you probably would have ended up squashed like a pancake under my wheel” he walked over to her quickly to make sure she really was okay “Not in a rush. My eye sight is just terrible. Probably shouldn’t be driving around at night to be honest, but I was bored so..” he shrugged.

“Let’s just say being run over probably wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world,” Charlotte joked with a laugh. “I really am fine, you didn’t get me, don’t worry,” she smiled. “To be fair I probably shouldn’t be walking around at night,” she replied.

“So much rudeness for such a little fae..” He chuckled “Ahh neither do i..” he admitted “But if you would like to join me with a regular sized, non pretend bottle of wine i might consider making an exception..”  

“Rude? I don’t know what you’re talking about. I’m a lovely person,” she teased. “Hmm.. you see I would but that also involves sharing sooo..” she trailed off and laughed. “Just kidding, sure thing. Do you have a regular sized non pretend bottle of wine?”

After her slight meltdown, Rebecca had been trying to get herself back together and she was doing okay but she missed her brothers, who had spontaneously disappeared and to be honest, she wasn’t okay with it. But she was trying and that was the main thing. Rebecca had been boiling the kettle when she noticed she wasn’t alone “Sorry, didn’t see you there.” 

Charlotte had just randomly been wandering around, not really thinking about anything or paying attention to anything either. She was definitely better than the week before, but she was also trying to not let what had happened get her down or make her hate the world. She hadn’t even noticed anyone else was in the room she had walked into until the spoke up, and when she looked up the brunette smiled softly. “That’s okay, I didn’t really see you either to be honest,” she laughed softly. “Are you.. okay?”

“I’m sorry, I seriously didn’t see you there..are you alright?!”

“Woah-” she laughed lightly, stumbling back a step. “I’m all good,” she said quickly, holding up her hands. “In a rush?”
