MOVED!

ALSO! I know right now, my about page says March 24th as Varian’s birthday, but after some thought I have changed that to March 4th!! I’ll probably write a whole thing on his astrological sign and shit like that eventually because I always have fun with that, so! 

                            @irnmaidn​ asked  :  how does varian adjust to being the royal science NERD ? is he thrilled with it and take to it easily ? is the title a weird adjustment ? is he at all hesitant about taking that position at first ?

          Oh boy oh boy do I have  a lot  of  feelings  about  this!  So  I  actually  thought  about  this  a  long  time  ago,  but  now  that  the  show  is  finished,  I’ve  given  it  more  thought  &&  I’ve  adjusted  my  process  appropriately  for  my  take  on  Varian.  I’ve  always  subscribed  to  Varian’s  endgame  being  becoming  Corona’s  royal  alchemist.  It’s  a  perfect  job  for  him  &&  I  just  know  that  he’d  love  that,  because  it  makes  him  feel  useful  to  the  kingdom.  Varian  loves  being  able  to  help  everyone,  especially  after  everything  he  did  in  the  past.  

          Originally  ---  before  season  three  aired  that  is,  I  had  it  that  he  would  always  accept  the  position  ( && that still stands ).  Where  I’ve  changed  it  though  is  his  reaction.  Originally,  Varian  felt  as  if  he  didn’t  deserve  the  position.  Mind  you,  I  made  this  up  before  his  season  three  redemption,  so  the  whole  storyline  with  Varian  slowly  rebuilding  his  trust  with  Rapunzel  wasn’t  exactly  a  thing.  So  the  relationship  wasn’t  entirely  mended  in  Varian’s  eyes  &&  he  was  hesitant  to  take  the  job  at  first.  He  just  didn’t  want  to  disappoint  Rapunzel  again.

          But  in  light  of  this  past  season  &&  Varian  having  the  time  to  fix  his  relationship  with  Rapunzel  &&  make  up  for  his  wrongdoings,  I  think  that  his  decision  to  accept  the  title  of  Royal  Engineer  /  Science  Nerd  /  Alchemist  was  a  lot  easier  to  make.  In  his  eyes,  he  had  more  than  redeemed  himself  &&  was  happy  that  Rapunzel  now  trusted  him  enough  to  offer  him  the  job.  He  knows  that  he  can  make  her  proud.  He  makes  sure  every  day  that  she  never  regrets  the  decision  to  give  him  the  position.  

          It’s  definitely  still  weird  to  Varian  that  he  has  such  an  esteemed  title.  He  takes  a  little  time  getting  used  to  it,  but  he  wears  it  proudly.  To  him,  this  title  represents  how  far  he’s  come  in  his  journey.  He  went  from  a  kid  with  dreams  too  big  for  his  small  village,  a  friend  &&  scientist  to  the  princess,  an  enemy  to  the  crown,  to  rekindling  his  friendships  &&  serving  the  crown  in  the  best  way  possible.  It  takes  a  lot  of  getting  used  to  for  him  even  now  that  people  are  happy  to  see  him  in  town.  No  one  cowers  away  in  fear,  or  stares  at  him  suspiciously  anymore.

          Cassandra  has  always  meant  a  lot  to  Varian.  Of  course  we  know  he  had  a  crush  on  her  for  awhile  --  He  eventually  got  past  that,  but  that  didn’t  make  Cassandra  mean  any  less  to  him.  He  started  to  see  her  as  more  of  a  big  sister!  Of  course,  their  relationship  has  had  it’s  ups  &&  downs.  When  Varian  turned  against  Corona  &&  all  of his  friends  --  that  included  Cass.  He  didn’t  see  her  again  until  she  had  turned  against  everyone,  so  I  think  that  the  two  of  them  had  a  lot  to  talk  about  first.  

Y’all did any of us fucking notice that in Varian’s last scene hIS FUCKING HAIR STRIPE IS GONE???????

                    Varian  was  excited,  to  say  the  least  that  he  was  getting  to  help  Princess  Rapunzel.  After  the  latest  incident  in  his  village,  this  would  be  a  way  for  him  to  prove  himself  useful.  With  Rapunzel  &&  Cassandra  there,  however,  he  was  a  little  more  talkative  than  usual.  He’d  gotten  to  talking  about  Flynn  Rider  &&  couldn’t  help  but  share  his  collection.  

can we PLEASE just collectively cry over the fact that cASSANDRA WAS WEARING THE NECKLACE VARIAN GAVE HER WITH THE CASSANDRIUM BECAUSE I’M STILL FUCKING WEEPING ABOUT IT I’M NOT OKAY!!!
