so, cedar's intersex 🎉🎉🎉

let me explain how this happened though and how i found out, cause i think its really funny-

a while ago, i came across a video explaining how electric eels dont have reproductive organs and no one knows how they reproduce. me being ace, i saw that and thought 'oh! what an awesome asexual icon : D' and decided to give that trait to cedar, whos also asexual- (this was my first mistake- why would they be an ace icon when theyd obviously be an intersex icon-)

but see, i never said this outloud- this was just a joke i had in my head- it is canon to cedar, but i never had the right context to reveal that, so no one could point out my error to me- and it wasnt until after i researched different intersexualities for serafín that i paused and thought "wait. would cedar count??"

and then i had like, a day of researching info about electric eels to figure it out lmao-

because initially i thought probably not? there was no intersex term i came across that described humans born with no reproductive organs, and since fish dont exactly follow the binary humans created, it didnt feel like he was if we were following eel standards- but hes also partly human? so there was obviously an issue there-

but then i found out electric eels do have reproductive organs: they develop either during later stages of their life, when they reach 'spawning grounds', and/or when artificially done in labs (i assume by injecting hormones? but i couldnt find any further info) so, this implied cedar had the potential to not be intersex...? which really confused me, cause can one be intersex if they can naturally just...not be intersex??

BUT THEN, i found this article by the ecotonemagazine, which stated that not only do most electric eels seemingly live most their lives as intersex, but some eels have been found to still be intersex even after developing functioning testicular and ovarian organs-

THEREFORE, cedars intersex : D

what makes this really funny to me though is the fact that not only did it take this long for me to realise, but it wasnt until after i intentionally made serafín intersex for representation that i realised cedar was just. here this entire time lmao-

in my defence, cedar also wouldnt find out until like. much later into the story- and he probably wouldnt identify with the label that strongly initially? cause it was artificially done, and for cedar, not having reproductive organs is just like. the best case scenario for him- he'd absolutely view himself as intersex though, itd just take them some time to process that theyre allowed to use that label-

I had plans to redraw a lot of these, specifically the post-mortem Seb. I think it's trash and every time I see it in my notif box I shake with anger

waaahhh I drew Seb and Lia as babies;; I had a bunch of little paintings planned of the solace siblings as little kids, all of them heavily based on pictures of me and my siblings.. I did this one but wanted to restart because it wasn't stylized enough

I remember posting a wip of this on the writing division discord. It was supposed to be a young Mr. Shade w/ Mrs. Shade and Lopee. idk who the woman closest to the camera is.. probably should have removed her or blurred her out since she takes away the focus from the other two.

these cowboy Sebs i never posted because i thought they were UGLY. Looking back, they're not bad, i just being hard on myself.

I really wanted to do the PMV with MCR's Cancer.. I think it fits Seb so well but I never started it ouuh

Chell's "I Heard Your Voice Again" was meant to be an animated comic. It would have started with Painter and Chell playing around, Chell making random sounds and Painter having to guess what they were. Eventually, Chell would hum Seb's song which he would hear over the walkie talkie and *politely* ask her to cut it out.

This is just more lists and some world building. Canon Pressure's setting was in Roblox, but I wanted to remove it from that context in my OC AU.

Like last time I'm going to add more writing I've done. I like these a lot more than the obsidian stuff

This last one I planned to make into a comic with Isaias and Cherry. She was going to ask him about his necklace and this would have been have been his dialogue.

as some context:

theres a storytelling module as part of my animation course, and we need to make a pitch deck for an animation idea. we were also asked to pick a social issue for this-

so, i chose the idea of romance being seen as inherently 'more' or a 'step above' friendship/ platonic relations! this is an aromantic story about a man who wants to find a meaningful connection in a world that heavily values romance. however, he himself is uncomfortable with romance and so feels like 'the odd one out', until he meets someone else whos also alone and gains the courage to talk to her, not realising how similar they are : 3

its meant to be a sweet story emphasising that friendship is its own unique relationship outside of romance, without putting either type of relationship down. and although its still uni work in the end, ive been really happy and excited about this project!

i might try to make a carrd or strawpage or something for it- cause i need to make a powerpoint pitchdeck, but id love to be able to show off the idea in a better way too (especially for portfolio stuff-)

if youve read this far and want to (absolutely no pressure, especially cause there isnt much info here), id love to get more input from people here- so, if youre willing to leave your thoughts, what do you think about the colours? cause i keep being told theyre fine, but im super doubtful about that- im not sure if the bg colours are too dark in some parts, but i want to try and keep a decent amount of contrast too so it doesnt get 'muddy'- do you think they actually work? or do you think i should try and lighten some of the colours? that and the colours for the main characters!!! i wanted them to specifically be the colours of the aromantic flag (with small specks of green), but i dont want the ending to be too obvious...the whole idea is that Coworker (one in the hat) hides the green on her behind her glasses and she reveals her eyes at the end of the story, but im not sure if her being grey makes that too obvious or if it could be interpreted as 'oh shes alone like Protag'.... ive tried messing around with yellow but i feel like she blends in too much with the bg, i cant find the right value...unless thats a me problem-
