Hudson Soft's strange Super Mario Bros. "sequel", released exclusively on a few Japanese computers. They got the green Cheep Cheep palette right though!

This official artwork of a Deep Cheep enemy (a type of homing Cheep Cheep) was released in November 2012, as part of a press kit for New Super Mario Bros. U. However, the Deep Cheep appeared nowhere in the game at the time.

In June 2013, when the New Super Luigi U DLC was released, the Deep Cheep was included in that version of the game. It is likely that the Deep Cheep was planned to be included in the base game, but was scrapped and moved to New Super Luigi U instead.

As such, between the two releases, there was a period of 8 months where this artwork depicted something that did not exist.
